What's new

Pakistan defeat Cricket Australia XI by 201 runs to win D/N warm-up game

So basically we'll probably end up loosing to a bunch of Australian Teenagers

As if things weren't going bad enough :livid: :livid: :livid:

i thought there might start being some signs of a thought process with mickey arthur, but im starting to think hes just another chap who fills his boots and moves on. most obvious error is how the coaching staff figured sami was a first slip fielder when it took all of 0.002 seconds for kiwi commentators (probably the worst in the world) to precisely identify why he was absolutely not.

Eh?

There are a truckload of commentators worse than the kiwi commentators.

Lol seems like this wicket is hard to bat on. Sadly no hatrick for Amir.

Swing for Rahat, but short and wide, he would have been hit for two boundaries in international cricket, by now

What is going on? Are they really bowling well or does this have to do with the batsman?

At least we will get the chance to bat for a long time in second innings.

Wish if we could do this to actual aussie team, it's improbable but not impossible, oz top order is very vulnerable.

Thanks. Is it the skills or the conditions?

Hard to judge... bit of both.
He was swinging them corners. 1st wicket was taken with a ball pitching around off stump and swinging back to hit the middle pole...
Rahat was swinging it too but he was bowling it short and wide, the one he pitched up got him a wicket. Amir was on the money

And that, my friends, is what I have been telling you for months about Pink Ball Day/Night cricket in Australia.

You score your runs as quick as you can before it gets dark, then you declare and try to take 4-5 wickets under lights.

Pakistan's score was only around 50 runs below par. And Amir is a better bowler than the South Africans whom I watched under lights at Adelaide.

Misbah didn't declare, but hopefully he is starting to realise that 500 runs across 2 innings will win Pink Ball Tests in Australia if you ensure that the opposition top order has to bat under lights.

Maashallah you're a genius, how did you figure this out ?

Junaids will be over the moon..
Brace yourself for upcoming threads on when to declare in Australia

Almost!

208 all out in 84 overs is just silly.

Pakistan would have done better to score 110 runs per session and to declare at 200-6 at Dinner. (It gets dark an hour earlier at Cairns and Brisbane than in Adelaide).

220-6 declared at 60 overs.

Then reduce the opposition to 50-7 in the dark.

Then do the same the next day: knock over the tail to dismiss the opposition for 80, then reach 70-2 at Lunch and race to 200-5 declared at Dinner on Day 2 - a lead of 340.

Then declare and look to reduce the opposition to 50-4 by the close.

importantly, one of the CA XI wickets was caught in slips

Day nighter at Gabba gonna be interesting.:srini

Not just that, the experience of playing the swinging ball in New Zealand might be invaluable.

I would not write Pakistan off. The only worry is whether or not Misbah understands that it's better to be 220-6 declared at Dinner than to bat all day, be 260 all out, but then bowl in daylight instead of under lights.

Declaring at 200/6 is no chance, not even by Aussie funky standards

They are setting up a pool at the Gabba for the match. It's gonna be a great occasion. Watching the match under the lights in the cauldron like stadium.

Good workout for Amir.

At least some of the critics would be silenced.

Every shield captain has known this for a few years now.

Set batsman can handle the pink ball at night - a new batsman can't

So do you think Australia will declare if a situation like that arises?

Say if Australia is at 214-6 at dinner..

or just play sharjeel and bat as an odi. try to get 270 in 70 overs. then iver to amir and sohail for a 9 over spell each. i wouldnt risk rahat as he bowls too much filth

You lot can make fun of Junaids but he is arguably the best poster in the cricket section, his insight is amazing and he's spot on more often then not. People go on like he's making up everything out of thin air, pay attention to his technical analysis and compare it to what you see on the pitch the evidence is all there even though it must be hard for some to digest given their ignorance; at least watch domestic D/N pink ball games in Australia before challenging his views, ya'll have become mini Virat Kohli's all hype no substance.

3 runs for 4 wickets is something I want to see against the real Aussie team, how good would that be :)))

I'm going. And I went to both the Adelaide Day/Night Tests.

Seriously, the pink ball does nothing in daylight after Day 1. You have to bowl under lights to get people out.

he bowled superbly in one of the matches against a county team and was getting a lot of late swing , the real thing is the international cricket though. All the best to him.

so Amir only shows up in 3 day warm ups now maybe this is his standard now.

that is why a backing a proper bowler over the likes of Sohail khan and Wahab has a benefit in the long term. A classy player comes into play eventually.

Younis looked in good touch for that fifty.

And what a beautiful delivery from Amir first ball.

hes bowling to a bunch of nobodies under friendly conditions.

I don't get why the are not playing Sharjeel. Shafiq has 18 runs in 70 balls, against nobody bowlers, really?? - Pakistan UAE batting style has now given a new lease for 2 more years by Baadshah Salamat

Sharjeel is must in this team, specially considering dynamics of D/N, you have to bowl under lights with new ball period. We really have good new ball bowler.
