Pakistan end Day 3 on 407/9, still trailing New Zealand by 42 runs

We have a tendency to do this but we do it randomly and seemingly for no apparent reason, and we do it for far too long.

It's a test match - a few overs here and there you might need to get your head right or see the ball properly or understand what the pitch is doing etc and for a few overs you might want to just stay in but we just go on and on and on for an hour with literally no indication of what we are trying to achieve.

Did it against England in the 1st Test too when we were in with a shout and there was a 10 over spell where we only scored 4 runs.
 
Hasan ali isnt performing with the ball otherwise he captained his side pretty well couple of seasons ago.
 
commentators are absolutely criticizing the batting approach of pak. waqar going after saud shakeel for not bossing the game after playing hundreds of balls. rightly so. they seem to want this to be draw from day 3 itself.
 
It seems that no one in pakistans camp is concerned about how this session is going. No messages of pressing the pedal a bit.
 
How can a part time dibby dobbly bowler like Mitchell only concede 7 runs in 5 overs?
 
Saud has a 100 and he's doing an Azhar Ali and dead batting everything like is a hand grenade been bowled at him.

You make a fair point but the truth is that most of the grounds in Pakistan are of a very poor standard and have had no renovation in decades. We had many years without Test cricket in Pakistan and there was plenty of time to try and improve the quality of grounds and facilities but no effort was made by regional cricket associations or PCB.

Remember that we can only host international teams in cities where there is infrastructure and facilities around the ground to ensure security, healthcare (in case of emergency injury) etc. In many cities we are very much behind the rest of the cricket world. Look at our neighbours in India they have established grounds of an international standard throughout the country and it helps to engage locals in enjoying the game. We have a long way to go brother and are lucky that city like Multan has got Test cricket.
 
This is why no body wants to play in Pakistan so boring to watch so how do we expect a crowd.
 
Boring, dull but sensible batting from the two youngsters. They have a full day tomorrow. Any lead above 75 will be handy before the pitch starts taking turn.

This is the last Test match of the season and the new regime of Sethi and Afridi want to mark their authority with a win. I'm expecting the ball to start turning sharply tomorrow by tea.
 
just tuned in , geewhiz Darryl mitchell 7 ov 1/7...you cant be serious...too sloow going
 
What pathetic innings from Shahkeel. These guys are playing for a draw. It is absolutely pathetic mentality.
 
To be honest I can't even blame Saud Shakeel for this.

Imagine being a player in this team and how sick you must be of constantly losing and your batting lineup collapsing.

Yes it's a negative mindset but they know what will happen if they start attacking. We'll be all out before even reaching NZ's total. Then NZ will come out and smash us to pieces. We're playing for a draw and it's clear.

Problem is for test cricket's spectator appeal this is terrible.

For me, Salman Agha has more incentive to attack.
 
Test cricket is boring was boring will always be boring time to get rid of this format if they want cricket to go to the next level. People talk about Bazball but that is no way to play test cricket it was suppose to be played slow. They turned it into t20 people are still not gonna watch that for 3-5 days such a boring sport other than t20
 
No point criticising Saud he is batting on instructions, in my opinion Pakistan want to wear down the pitch to such time that when NZ come to bat it will start assissting the spin bowlers. So both batsmen are killing time and cut down on any shots with a slight risk.
 
Tuk tuk from Saud. It is a pathetic innings. Batting at a strike rate of less than 40. If Azhar Ali batted like this, knives will be out for him, but because it is Saud Shakeel, who is the new flavour of the month, he is getting a pass.
 
NZ are lucky they have 5 bowlers plus Mitch to help out, so bowlers are not over tired.
 
In this time pakistan could have easily reduced the deficit to 20 25. But only 50 runs in last 25 overs.

As soon as a Pakistan batsman attacks, he gets out. They know they haven't got it in their locker to break out this shell.

Not his decision its the coach and captain who decide the tempo for new comer like him. They are happy to draw the match.

There were no instructions tbh.....Agha had a SR of 50+ while Saud who's batting on 100+ had a SR in 30s.

Predictable Hasan Ali. NZ did their homework on him by having a fielder at deep midwicket.

If nz get a lead if 30 40 , its good. More chance of a result in the match.
NZ bat for 80 overs ,give pakistan a target of 350 in 100 overs.
 
Wao man it's just useless blocking or reckless hitting, nothing in between and nothing in between their ears i guess, such a dumb lot, more than talent it's the grey matter which our team lacks.
 
Hassan’s T20 career may be over with his bowling decline but the guy can still smoke them if he really applies himself

Kind of guy England would know how to get the best out of in white ball cricket
 
Anyone criticizing saud shakeel has no idea this is what test cricket is and it’s boring

He needs some technical help in his bowling acting. Losing a lots of pace due to the bent leg in delivery stride.

Are you saying he cannot play any shots, there is a reason why he was batting more fluently when Sarfraz was there and not after he departed, he hasd been instructed to bat risk free completely.
 
The tail won't last long here, saud is batting like a tail ender as well right now
 
I would love to reverse sweep Mitchell over those two fielders at point and gully

He can play shots but for some reason has the tendency to go into a shell as soon as a wicket falls....and it's not the first time it has happened.

He took 40+ balls to get off the mark y'day, surely that can't be an instruction.

He's a good player but needs to improve there.
 
Amazing temperament by Saud Shakeel. Not easy playing the blockathon.
 
Saud will be aiming to be not out for tomorrow, but with Pakistan tailend maybe difficult.
 
There is definitely one jackpot spot for spinners from this end. Ball just doesn't bounce if you hit that spot.
