I think, PAK has played well here - one poor shot from Sarfraz at critical moment cost at least 50 runs, which probably has kept Kiwis slightly still in this game. Santner is not Herath.
 
Cricbuzz commentators called Williamson the best player of spin and soon received a flood of emails from Indians threatening them that their app would be Boycotted.

So then they called Williamson arguably best.

Haris Sohail is the best spinner for pak other 2 are just making up the numbers!
 
Quality of Umpiring is going drastically down these days. By logic, that can't be out. Off-spinner, bowling over the wicket against right hander shouldn't get LBW on playing shots.

Can’t really blame Bilal guy hasnt played enough quality cricket.. the rest have played 40 test matches & not improved
 
Probably PAK's session, but Kiwis also have scored 78/3. Another 100, game on.

Looked out to the naked eye. Bruce Oxenford has given terrific decisions so far in the series. A rare wrong decision by him.

Though I agree quality of umpiring has regressed.
 
Yasir Shah just looks so ordinary. Bilal Asif too. I hope Pakistan gets them out as early as possible. Because anything around 150+ would be tough to chase the kind of batting we have
 
Bilal is such a waste of space. Completely wasting this opportunity to go for the kill.

Man, we're missing Zafar here.

On a turning track, bowling over the wicket if Offie is to get LBW, he has to strike within sticks - that ball will always miss leg, or other way if that ball is to hit leg stick, point of pad contact will be outside off.

Watling was playing shot - 100% time you can safely decline the appeal & you are safe.
 
OH NO! Abbas hasnt got a wicket so far this innings, does that mean he’s been found out? Is it time to panick already? :ashwin
 
If NZ can give a target of 200 I think there is mostly a chance of NZ win. This Pakistani batting line up made of Hafeez,Azhar,Asad looks very brittle to me.
 
This partnership is already 40. Good fight back by the kiwis. Both has average of above 36. Ominous sign for Pakistan. They let go the advantage in the first innings. Their batters are to blame for.
 
Morning all. Whilst it looks like Yasir Shah has improved since the Australia series, Bilal Asif has been blunted in this match. Another gun spinner would complete our attack.
 
Not sure why Haris Sohail hasn't been bowled especially after he completely outbowled both Yasir and Bilal in the first innings?

Another 50 runs and NZ will be favorite considering so many tuk tuker and walking wickets in the team

Against Australia he was mainly taking tailender wickets and was useless against their top six.

In this Test he's taken some important wickets of Latham, Williamson and Taylor. But yes overall, he's been pretty average since making comeback.

"All rounder" Hafeez has bowled a grand total of 2 overs in this Test.

Doesn't make team on merit as a specialist batsman, so what's the point of his selection ?
 
Its going to be a nail biter. With pakistans both spinners neutralized its one hell of a job to get them all out before its too late.
 
This is going to be a stunning test match.

Low scoring cricket matches barring T20s are always nail biting
 
A silly run out looks to be the most likely mode of dismissal right now.
 
pitch has flattened out, dont think pakistan will have a problem chasing. but lets see what happens tommorow.

With all due respect, Nicholls and Watling are not good enough batsmen to survive on a turning wicket. Even an out of form Yasir should be able to get them out. Our batsmen need to take heart from this and apply themselves better.
 
The new ball would suit De Grandhomme. He would've been vulnerable against the reverse swinging and spinning old ball. The match is right now clearly in NZ's grasp. Avoid a silly passage of play and they can easily post a 250+ run target.
 
Even after 30 odd tests, Yasir doesn't have a straighter one, flipper or a googly. Can't keep getting wickets based on leg spin alone.
 
Specialist captain tactics not helping us now.

But let me guess all the blame will be passed on to the bowlers. :))

Watling is a very underrated player. Seems to always play a part in a key partnership.

Btw posters saying we can chase anything under 200, you first have to dismiss the team for under that. We don't even look like getting these 2 out. :facepalm:
 
NZ will probably aim to bat the day out and try to bat for some of tomorrow. Anything over 200 on day 4/5 pitch will be very difficult. Azhar and Imam blockathons will put the batsmen under extra pressure.

We don't even look like getting wickets and they are rotating strike with ease. We should all be positive and just ignore the bigger picture at hand :)).
 
The pitch looks decent to bat on. Think day 4/5 it will get more difficult to bat on.
 
NZ's session. These two have applied themselves well and have been patient.

Huge last session coming up.

This pair has batted out full session!!! Kiwis might attack 2nd ball here, another 50 by this partnership, they are in driving seat.
 
Advantage NZ for sure right now. If NZ can play out the final session and even bat a bit tomorrow then I back to win them. But with new ball with Pakistan I think it will be a bit difficult in the beggining.
