Tactics pertaining to this match or selection in general?
He’s not allowing easy singles, if you look closely at the fields he has been setting for both Bilal and Yasir. Yasir has been guilty of providing one rubbish ball every over, while Bilal is struggling because there is hardly any bounce in this wicket. Not much Sarfraz can do if Yasir and Bilal do not bowl according to the fields. I believe his handling of the pace bowlers in general has been spot on. Could give a few more overs to Haris though.I never agreed with the selection of Bilal. Haris has out bowled him. Should have selected another specialist spinner.
He should aim to keep the field up and not allow easy singles. Maybe should bowl Hafeez more if he is in the team. But if things were going well the Sarfraz fan club would be telling us it's because of him.
If we were stop the scoring that would help but these 2 are playing our bowlers with ease.
If pak selection/ management had a brain cell in them they would select
Fakhar
Sharjeel
Baba
Haris
In ALL formats the likes of imam hafeez azhars wouldn’t make the eng/ind 3rd xi
Sharjeel is finished, even if he is allowed to come back tomorrow. It'll take at least one full season (next domestics) for his to get back into batting grove. And, I am not sure about his fitness level - ideally, when he'll be ready, he should be well into 30s.
Rather have a paid $$$ sharjeel dot ball than these useless imams hafeez’s tuk tuking all day!!

This Watling guy is a gritty player.
How is the pitch anyone?
Chill it's the third day, 2 more days to go
Pak batsmen will grind it out with Tuk Tuk
Sri Lanka had a much better attack than New Zealand. Pakistan can chase down anything around 200, provided the batsmen keep their heads in this chase.Tuk tuk will put the team under more pressure. Same batting line up couldn't even chase 135 against Sri Lanka. Now they will chase over 200 against a superior team?
What does Watling frustrating a nonsense Test team like Bangladesh have to do with this match?Watling as frustrated Bangladesh a lot in the past.
No surprise Pakistan are facing it too

Herath was superior to this NZ bowling attack combined. He was instrumental in dismantling Pakistan in that series. Boult, Wagner or any other pacer cannot have the same impactHerath is a supeior spinner to NZ spinners but wasn't aware that Lakmal was better than either Boult or Wagner.![]()

If NZ lose a wicket, de Grandhomme should have license to attack and really take the game away from Pakistan with a quick cameo as he's capable of.
A quick 40 or 50 and NZ can bat us out of the game. We don't have Younis Khan's 4th inninings heroics to rely on anymore. They will back Boult, Wagner and co to defend whatever they set.

The only nonsense here is that BD posters bring in Bangladesh in every thread as an example as if they really matter as a Test team. Its annoying. The only nonsense here is that you are not getting the context.
Watling has taken New Zealand from a difficult position to a comfortable position. He has done that against BD too several times. It is a case of similarity.
The only 'humiliation' I saw, was Boult throwing his toys out of the pram when Fakhar began dishing out some horrid beating to him in the ODIsBoult has already humiliated us in this series. If there's any reverse he will find it.

Watling has played two absolute blinders against Sri Lanka and India, where he combined with a senior player to drum up massive partnerships that shut the opposition out of the game. I'm sure you had no idea about those knocks, while you were too focused on Watling's innings against Bangladesh which he himself wouldn't care about I'm sure.

Abbass 21-10-29-0
Great figures, even though he a 0 in the wickets column
Btw Mohammad Irfan Jailer ( SLA not leggie) got 4 wickets today against Eng Lions.
I would draft him to the main side asap.
He is a Bangladeshi poster, what's wrong bringing that example here? You are a laughing stalk in AUS for 20 years now - still I have heard Dean Jones bringing PAK game as example. Do you realize that Kiwis have got you nervous here & you are taking your frustration out of Bangladesh? No, you are absolutely wrong if you think Watling won't care about his Test inning against any team, just like whole PAK cricket including Coach celebrated Fakhar's 200 against ZIM reserves. Don't try to insult any one - his example was perfectly within context.
Dude you are the only one getting riled up here unnecessarily. I just mentioned Bangladesh. I didn't say BD is the only team he performed against. Yes I heard about his exploits against other Asian sides but I didn't get to watch the match so I didn't bring them into discussion.
yeah he is one of the domestic perfomer over the years plus he fills up runs with the bat idiocracy
Watling is another underrated New Zealand cricketer. He has been one of the most reliable WKs of this decade.
Real shame that NZ don't play more tests. This guy is quality.
Unlike Kashif Bhatti he is from Lahore and has done well on un-supportive pitches too.
Interesting bit about batting i never knew he can bat too.
