It does not. That was not a good run, but Asad would have made it had he not stuttered in the middle of the pitch. Also Rizwan's fault too because he just dropped it and ran without looking at the partner. Overall just bad communication.
As much as we have a tendency to make players into stars - I feel like Pakistan have ended the test careers of Bess and Butler, no matter the result of this match.
Unless they take England home with the bat, but even then, they've been so poor at their primary function that England seriously need to consider replacing them
I always think that once a team gets the lead to 220, every run effectively counts double.
230 is defendable.
250 is difficult to chase.
270 is a winning target.
290 puts the chasing team under massive pressure.
Buttler will never be dropped until England feel that his batting is not good enough for Test cricket. They know Foakes is the best keeper in the country, but they are still adamant that Buttler is an insanely talented batsman who will repay the faith eventually.
The English selectors rate him on par with Kevin Petersen in terms of natural talent and flair. That is why he is getting a long rope.
44 Tests for ONE hundred has to be the worst return for someone who has ever been so highly rated, if that’s the case.
Pak should ideally bat till the end, come in tomorrow and play aggressively before getting out or declaring.
I meant to write that the size of your legs is a huge factor. But yes it does, people with long legs have longer strides hence can run faster. Having short legs is a massive disadvantage when running.
I am a bit too jittery about this. I think yes the pitch is breaking up and everything. But YS had a purple patch in the first innings. Not sure if he can summon it in innings no. 2. Don’t want to make heroes out of Burns and Sibley now.
It is a question of what could have been if they pull the plug on this Test career. They are always tempted to give him one more series to see him play that defining, explosive innings that they think he has in his locker. To be fair he has played two good innings in the last two Tests, but he obviously needs to do more to repay the faith.
Positive, if what at times risky approach by Pakistan.
Important partnership this as not much left to bat.

your views on rizwan?
I completely agree with you. Butler has insane talent, and I fully supported him England retaining him, even if his figures continued to be average.
However, his keeping in this match has completely changed the scenario. There is no way England will let him continue to keep after the simple chances he's missed in this match.
There is a chance to consider him as a specialist batsman but their team is pretty packed with allrounders already.

If haris sohail had been available atleast we wouldn't have to stick with oldies...The best they're gonna do for next test is have an aged fawad in the lineup

Well I think he will definitely get the next two Tests. Don’t see him getting chopped mid series.
That sounds logical, but short people actually accelerate faster because they are generally lighter in weight. If you have ever taken a physics class, you should remember the equation Force equals mass times acceleration.
Size has nothing to do with speed. How big is a light particle and how fast can it travel?
Who is faster between the wickets? Yasir Shah or Mohammad Abbas? Yasir is faster even though the other guy is a fast bowler.
Same as before. He will never be a top batsman but he is far better than Sarfraz as an overall package.
He will be first choice in all formats for the next 4-5 years at least.
if these two can see off this last 30 mins then that should be the plan.
This umpire is showing why neutral umpires are so important.
