What's new

Pakistan hit back with 2 wickets after being bowled out for 282 on Day 1 of the 2nd Test

Very impressed at how Fakhar has gone about his inns today.

I think Azhar and Babar should be looked to dropped for next test series.

I agree...time to move on. Fakhar's already made his claim to one of the spots. Need another, preferably a newbie to cover the other.

The wicket is very good for batting. Don’t know what our jokers were doing against Lyon. Need to get to 300+ from here to make sure fifth day pitch comes into play.

Good shot Sarfraz. Much better from him today. I have been critical of him but he's doing a good job today

These two have done well but there's still at least another 200 runs to go

Sarfraz's fitness . Huffing and puffing after facing only 50 balls.

Fakhar on the other hand hardly breaking a sweat.

100 Partnership, need to double that at least.

158/5 is still not great.

Allan Border can't stop praising him, but yes we should go with what you say. :))

Australia are building some pressure here. I hope Fakhar and Sarfraz don't give in.

Sarfaraz has scored a 50. Let me check if black snow is falling outside.

Ramiz with one of his specials: "streetwise smart." Such pearls of wisdom...

The key to this partnership has been how quickly the runs have come. Run rate this session has been 4.3. keep going.

Sarfraz haters will be looking for holes to hide in as we speak.:sarf

No. 1 good score isn't good enough. He needs to maintain this form now. He has played well today, I won't take that away from him but he needs to take this into the next series.

That's the problem with this forum . 1 good game will hide sins but 1 bad performance and that player or team is rubbish.

Thank goodness Sarfraz has scored a half century. Happy for him, it's like Sarfraz of old when he came in and got that big score down the order.

Fakhar has done well, but again he started off far too shaky. Starts off too badly whether in ODIs or tests. Think we'd be better off playing him down the order at least in tests after that, he's clearly great once he gets set. Could slot in at 3 or even 4 potentially, I'd let Imam and Azhar open.

Great to see Sarf back. Need him to score more consistently now. Need 300 here. Lot of turn already.

4 for 0 at 57!!!

But must have to praise both players, particularly Sarfraz- counter attacked his way out of trouble. Fakhar as well - playing uncharacteristic innings. These 2 needs to hit hundreds here, other wise AUS might take the game far away for 4th innings to come into equation.

As soon as I woke up and checked the score, that awful collapse earlier started. Things getting back on track now, but still a long way to go. One wicket is all it takes, and we'll fall in a hole again. People are saying this pitch is getting flatter as well. They both need to make big centuries. Many players tend to get out immediately after reaching the milestone. They can't afford to do that here. Maybe even a 150+ score for one of these, maybe even a 200+ score!

Good counter by Sarf and Fakhar.

The run rate was amazing.

Seems like a good batting wicket. Need to get to 300 at least. On a flat pitch,Khawaja and Finch will be dangerous.

I hope Sarfraz doesn t set fields like this when we are bowling. Paine is making it too easy now. Doesn't seem to be any intent to bring more fielders up.

Need to finish this session without losing any wicket. Game will be more or less balanced then.

Critical inns from Sarfaraz here. Pak could've lost Test match in first session itself.

Atleast now there is hope of substantial first inns score. Babar Azam and Azhar Ali wkts were truly wasted. Will be kicking themselves for missing out here

Surprised he's taken Labuschagne off tbh.

Watching this partnership makes me even more livid about the humiliating surrender from the middle order.

These two need to be still batting at close of play. Games still in Aussies favor at moment.

The test will be how these guys restart after team. When they are in a flow like this it's easier to bat. Having to restart the momentum will be a test and I am a little nervous about post tea. Hope these guys can do the job.

Who is going to make way for Imam in next Test? Surely Fakhar is going to keep his place.

Babar, Azhar or MoHa?

Phew. No wonder Fakhar looked so chilled when they reviewed.

Phew fakhar survives, that would have been a huge blow just before tea.
