He is the best player of spin in the country and should be automatic pick for tests in Asia,
 
Game back to Aussies hand again. Sarfraz must have to score a hundred now. He is in good touch today, should keep attacking and score quickly.

While this partnership was great, but Pakistan will still be playing catch up throughout this test barring a miracle from Sarfraz/tail-enders.

Preassure, nothing else. He escaped the review and should have learned by that by using his feet, instead he was struck in the crease.
 
gonna be really hard to get to 300..the rest dont look like they can hold a bat...sarfi will have to manage the tail and get the score to 250..once they get there they will have to try and hit and get to 300...if they do manage that, game on hai..vurna its aussies all the way..pitch seems flat and uzzie and finch will have their tails up..I expect a lead or deficit of 200 at least unless we can blow them away..

It's a 2 innings game, so they might come back with ball & bat - still 3 chances left. But, Azhar Ali isn't working at 3 - if the lead (either side) is within 50, he'll make sure that PAK feels the pressure with his 25 ish SR.
 
As much as i like Babar its clear since his debut that he is not good against spin defensively. He is young and has time on his side but he shouldnt be an automatic pick in Asian tests.

During the Asia Cup it looked like he had improved against spin but today's dismissal was poor. Not sure what he was thinking.
 
Sarfraz needs to be switched on after tea and we cant afford for him to get out straight away otherwise we are in big trouble.

Should spend time with Younis. Cant lose such a talent because his weakness against spin. Plus needs to play more FC cricket on spin friendly pitches like Karachi.

Anything over 200 is handy in Test, particularly if you are batting first. There are 3 more innings to amend on innings, but I think 350 will put PAK in extremely strong position. There is no per after 0.5 innings of the game :)

Stop your double standards. The way you bash other players like Babar, Azhar, et. al. , show some spine, be neutral and ask for Sarfraz to get out of at least ODI side. For starters.

I think 300 is a decent score on this wicket, 350 would be a really good first innings score and anything above that you cant lose.
 
Based on the morning session, it looked like 300 was a very good total. Now with the pitch having dried out, 450 was par.

Need something special from Yasir & Abbas with the ball otherwise Pakistan is looking at a deficit of 200.

He is weak against what should have been bread & butter for a right handed Asian batsman - off spin. I wonder what Grant is doing in God knows, may be 50 years in charge now :( For 3-4 years I have seen Babar struggling against off spin and any offie flighting the ball above eye line, he panics.
 
People are misreading the pitch. Lot more turn than Dubai. 300 is par. If we get early wickets Aus will struggle. Finch and Khawaja are due failures.

Fakhar and Fawad are valuable in Asian tests. Although i am not a fan of Fawad but we need him now till other young players establish themselves. Seniors like Asad, Azhar and Sarfraz doesn't score big which also shows in their averages. Fawad scores big against spin and at good pace too.

No Fawad any more. This culture has to change - whenever a young player fails, PAK brings back 35+ bunch. Ahzar has 3 failures, MoHa 2 after 1st innings, while Babar actually has failed once here (was Run Out & Not Out at Dubai).
 
PAK should win this Test - if it's gripping like that on Day 1, don't see this AUS batting lasting 2 innings here - PAK need to put 500 in combined innings here to edge out AUS.

I was just looking at some stat cricbuzz put up, there was one wk 90 Taslim Arif v Ind, Kolkata, 1980 who had a better to very good avg of 62 and still wasim bari took his place with a career avg. of 16 ? he might be a good keeper but vast difference in avg. It looks like the situation of Ind in case of saha vs pant, if saha is opted for a long time even when pant would have improved his keeping skills...

Babar just looks clueless full stop in test cricket.

If we manage 300 here, might have something to bowl at.

This pitch will produce a result atleast. Spinning from the very 1st day which is unlike UAE pitches.

Nothing against dropping non performers - my point was to call back spent forces based on their game may be from 5-6 years back. Why Fawad - why not Saad, Saud or Usman? If the don't debut in UAE, don't think Jo'burg is ideal for debut.

No. 8 shouldn't be considered tail ender. But Sarfraz now should be more selective about strike sharing.

Like that one just now, it's a leg break pitching a foot outside off and Yasir is stretching and reaching for it. Just bad batting against a nothing ball.

Just wait on the googly as that is the only potential danger ball this guy will have with that action.

Not watching the game but is the ball turning way more than Abu Dhabi. From cricinfo commentary it seems there is spin and bounce on this pitch.
 
Well the good thing is that Pakistan actually tried to play at a modern run rate for once
