What's new

Pakistan hit back with 2 wickets after being bowled out for 282 on Day 1 of the 2nd Test

Looks like 500 runs pitch!!! May God save us from big innings defeat

Very useful 18 run last partnership. Well done Abbas and Hamza. 282 is a fine recovery from 57/5. However still think they are about 100 runs short at least unless Abbas and Yasir can weave their magic. A wicketless session here for Pakistan will be demoralizing.

May as well bowl 1 of Hafeez or Asif as Khawaja and Finch gave issues against spin.

55 Runs from the tail could be decisive to the outcome of the game. Cmon boys lets attack for the last few overs!!

This may not have been a 400+ pitch but it was definitely a 320+ pitch. But Pakistan should back themselves. They've dismissed Australia cheaply in just the previous match and they can do it again.

Obviously, a different pitch from Dubai. There is a lot more for spinners here than the Dubai pitch. The score is decent, remember Australia has to bat last here.

Too many wrist slitters on the forum, do not back their team.

Abbas is the type of bowler Australia struggle against. Forces them to come forward by bowling good line and length.

It's not easy to back consistent non-performers like Hafeez, Shafiq and Sohail.

What an ending!

Game is finely poised.

Test Cricket best form of the game bar none!!

Great Day for PAK, led by the Captain, from 57-5.

Now Sarfraz needs to keep attacking. I have seen too many times AUS starts to counter attack when in trouble and fielding side often goes to defensive after few blows, and AUS's bottom half runs away with the game - best example was that Hobart Test, when AUS was 120-5, chasing 365 & scored last 250 at almost 5/over. It's a 18 wicket game for PAK now.

Pakistan has it in bag. Pitch is turning from day one and Aus has to bat last here.

Pretty much all those counter attacks come in their home ground. I am not sure if they can do the same on turning tracks.

Now that the wicket is bowling friendly I’d hope that Pakistan is planning to get them out twice after enforcing the follow on.

I think, they try everywhere but obviously with little success outside home. Here, Sarfraz needs to be ahead of the game and believe that PAK is in driving seat - at worse even a 50 runs lead doesn't put AUS ahead, because they'll bat last. PAK has come back from 57-5 on Day 1, must keep that good feeling flowing when AUS is batting - a target of 225 should be enough on Day 4/5 here.

This is a better wicket expecting 4th day finish here

yeah wouldnt be surprised..we need to bowl them out cheaply tomorrow and then get a 250 plus lead..even if we can keep their lead to around 50 we have a chance..

Playing Fakhar is the right strategy. Pakistan needs quality batsmen wherever they can find them. It is not as if there are many waiting in the wings.

As I was saying :)

Need to restrict them to as low as possible. Even if we concede a lead upto 50, we may have a chance. 3rd Tests against England in 2012 and 2015 are the examples.
It's definitely not a 400 run pitch. Need to keep attacking. Interesting day ahead tomorrow.

UAE pitches offer more turn on Day 1, 2,3 in comparison to Day 4,5 whereas in other countries it is the opposite. Pakistan has to attack immediately and not take their foot off the peddle and repeat the mistakes of the previous game.

Yah, 220 should be very hard for Aus in 4th inning. Aus best chance is to score runs tomorrow. I would have liked to see Aus batting first to make it even.

Pakistan really pulled it back and Abbas was...well, Abbas. Terrific day of cricket and if the Aussies can counter, this could be another enthralling test.

Pakistan have done well to comeback , If the pitch continues spinning Pakistan will know batting last will be tough for Aussies.

Khawaja was a big wicket, don't see any other Australian Batsman having the technique to negotiate spin apart from Paine but this is a different wicket from Dubai.

Cracker of a test match expected.. most likely we will have a result.. who knew it could happen on day one on a UAE pitch

Not true. Dubai wicket was wierd, where it was truly good to bat on even the fifth day. Paine and Lyon are not good enough batsmen to survive Yasir on a fifth day wicket in the UAE.
