Pakistan lose three quick wickets before stumps after taking 280-run first innings lead

PAK shouldn't enforce follow on here - need 5 days cricket.
 
What should be aim of Pakistan if they bat first. Bat till Day 4 and have 500 on board and let Australia play on Day 5?
 
Abbas proving all his critics wrong who were saying that he wouldnt succeed in UAE. This guy should be played on the roads of Australia as well.
 
Tundler Abbas having a better test career than hype boy Amir. This shows how important it is to back top performers in domestic despite the expert opinions about them on PP.
 
Need to bat positively for 17 overs tonight and tomorrow get lead up to 450 as quick as possible and declare.

Please don't mock at him as saying him trundler. Then u should call McGrath as trundler. Bowling fast isn't everything u know.
I totally agree with ur 2nd line. Fawad should have played 60 tests by now.
 
What a waste of space this guy Wahab Riaz is.. Who keeps bringing him back. I think Mir Hamza or Hasan Ali would have done better.

Don't think he's mocking Abbas. He's mocking those who call him a trundler.
 
Abbas and Bilal have been amazing, but what a capitulation 142-1 to 202 all out. 10 wickets fell in the space of 60 runs. I thought they'd not make 482 despite the start, but not fold like this. Good thing it wasn't Pakistan, forums would be in riots, nice to see the collapse happening in the opposition team this time.
 
Abbas what a gem we have in our ranks.

The county stint has done wonders with his bowling.

Likeable lad.
 
Abbas will play a similar role for us just like veron philander is doing for soth africa ,though vernon philander is still miles ahead in terms of batting from abbas.
 
Abbas has become the leader of the pace bowling attack, needs to be given a go in ODIs as well

There's no need to bat until 500. Australia will just be looking to survive. Another 100 is enough.
 
Shadab Clealrly looking unsettled because of Asif’s 5fer. It could be curtains for him at this level for quite some time now

I think this will be a perfect move as he has experience in england and his bowling is tailor made for english conditons.I just wish he can add another 5kph then he will be a very hard bowler to play at.
 
Expect a blockathon from Azhar here and given momentum to Aussie bowlers in this inns.

lost three unnecessary wickets. anyways Pakistan should try to bat half way after the lunch score some 150 more runs. 475 to win for Australia.
 
NWM doesn't work always. 1st innings, I can understand but with a 300+ lead, sending NWM just gave Aussies to take an easy wicket - had Bilal survived, still it would have cost some dots when PAK is in dominating position. Sarfraz can declare now and AUS will still lose, but ideally PAK should bat till an hour after lunch and set 500+.
 
Poor test match with bat with Azhar, carries on like this and he should be dropped.
 
I never liked the idea of nightwatchman. Is Bilal a proper batsman? His performance in both innings don't suggest though.
 
Azhar has lost the plot completely as a batsman. He should work hard to gain touch otherwise horror is waiting for him in this series.
 
Good toss to win for sarfaraz. Already in bad form, had he lost the toss Pakistan could have been in similar situation.

Azhar should have been sent in as the Night watchmen instead of Asif.
 
No point of bringing a night watch man. I never believed in this stupidity. If a batsman can't play then why he is called a batsman?

Trevor Hohn's selections still boast of the ego of Australian late 90's and early 2000s. In the hindsight, it doesn't really make much sense to drop one of your better players of spin ie PSP Handscomb and a technically sound opener ie Matt Renshaw for a perennial struggling batter ie Travis Head and a guy with a fancy name ie Labuschagne. Even Maxwell would have been good on these wickets and can shephard the tail.
 
The aussies have not learnt from their mistakes from the 2014 tour, you cannot play ODI and T-20 players in these conditions which require Alaistar Cook type grinding.
 
One thing is clear, Sarfaraz won a crucial toss. Pitch has started to aid spinners from Day 3 onwards.

True, it is absolutely criminal to not pick renshaw, handscomb and maxwell, who are experienced and proven players of spin bowling. Renshaw and handscomb would have prevented a collapse and maxwell is a useful no.6 in asia and is also a handy spinner. Australia ensured they would have no chance by picking rookies over those 3 players.

If those 3 were picked and australia won the toss, pak would be the losing side now instead of aus.

I won't go so far to say pak would be on the losing side as they were still establishing themselves esp Handscomb and Renshaw. It's not like no one has won Tests in UAE batting second.
It would have made the competition a bit more gripping if they had picked them.

By calling him a tundler I was taking a jab at those who start calling each and every bowler a "tundler" and write them off. I remember when abbas made his debut. The march thread was full of people calling him a tundler while he didn't complete his first over yet.

Abbas has so far done quite well and we as fans should learn not to be prejudice against our upcoming 9layers otherwise we would never find replacement for players who have no business in pak team.
 
i think pak have enough runs now, wicket is spinning now, Yasir will come good in this inning he is a bit rusty.
 
We should at least set the Aussies 400 to win. Even that should be more then sufficient to take a 1-0 lead! It's time to celebrate comrades!!:uakmal
