Pakistan middle-order versus India middle-order - Which is the weakest of the two?

Pakistan has the likes of Iftikar, Khushdil, Shadab, Asif and Nawaz.

India got Sky, Hardik, Pant, Hooda and DK.

Currently, both teams are struggling without a formidable middle-order despite a few individual performances that stood out in Asia Cup 2022.

Not only our middle order is weaker but our top order is weaker too. Pak at least have Rizwan and Babar (and Fakhar though he looked totally out of sorts in Asia cup) in their top order.

Who do we have? Rohit, Rahul and Kohli, who misfire more than they fire and are on their last legs.

In ODIs, we are still persevering with a has been (for some time now) Dhawan. We don't even want to try out anyone else in place of these oldies except for Gill and see what roaring success he has proved to be even though its against Zims and WI.

I think the Pakistan middle-order in limited overs cricket at the moment is one of the weakest in international cricket.

We currently are selecting players who wouldn't have been fit to clean the boots of many former greats.

India's is better. All our middle order does is stand there waiting for the overs to fly by. Asif hits a few sixers before losing his wicket where as the likes of Khushdil can't even do that!

India lacks finishers since Pandya has given up on that role. India is left with SKY and DK. Pant is an enigma in this format. You would think this format is ideal for him. But even ater 50 games he hasn't found his feet. Deeper analysis reveals Pant needs to stay 20 to 25 balls before unleashing himself. Something you can't do in T20. I won't say they are total waste. But T20 is all about role based. Otherwise you would see Shubman Gill, Shreyas Iyer, Samson would be batting. INdia's problem is always the balance due to one dimensional cricketers. Because of that India makes compromising choices. If i want a player from Pakistan that would be Shadab Khan. He will lend a great balance.

Pakistan on the other hand is overdoing with Balance. Having players who can do a bit of everything. 3 spinning all-rounders in the side. 3 seamers. 3 top order. 2 finishers. Finishers are always going to be very inconsistent unless they are pedigree batsmen like Maxwell, Miller. Even they cannot be consistent. Pakistan should do away with one spinning all rounder and draft a proper batsman in. May be Imam? Again he is a top order.

I said this even before Asia Cup started that Pakistan has a non existent middle order. This is the weakest middle order I have seen from Pakistan in T20s. It's a miracle that they reached the final of Asia Cup whereas the strong Indian batting lineup didn't live upto the hype especially guys like Pant and Pandya.
