Yeah underdog story is always good, but that being said, Pehawar look unbeatable right now.
Peshawar have pulled through defeat twice. They are beatable as long as you hold on to your chances.

Karachi Whites look very good too.

Abbotabad look upnfor this...farhan and haris were mindless slogging and are 3 down now

In the first Semi-final of the National T20 Cup 2023, Peshawar has set a total of 169(all out) in 19.2 overs against Abbottabad.

Israrullah shines with the bat as he scored 73(34).

Abbottabad's Shahab Khan posted massive bowling figures in the first semi-final of the National T20 Cup 2023 against Peshawar.

3.2 overs
33 runs
5 wickets

His 5-wicket haul helped Abbottabad bowl Peshawar out for 169 in 19.2 overs.

Peshawar is an unbeaten side in the National T20 Cup 2023, and now they are probably on the verge of being ousted from the tournament in the semi-final.

chacha's bowling career ended

well done for not picking a proper spinner

Is it just me or does anyone find it a weird format for the top two teams to face-off in the semi final? Shouldn't the benefit of finishing top be that you get to play the lowest ranked team?

Sajjad Ali hit Iftikhar Ahmed for 4 sixes in an over.

He has scored 57(29) bowled by Mohammad Imran

What happened to Peshawar? They ran out of gas as soon as it mattered?

Never trust the word of some people who think abbottabad top 6 is good.

without any surprise, they advocate for some of the worst/bland white ball batsmen for international cricket as well.
You were saying?

Peshawar’s 10-match winning streak finally came to an end as they faced a thumping defeat at the hands of Abbottabad in the first semi-final of the AH Group Presents Jazz Super 4G National T20 Cup 2023-24. Yasir Shah-led Abbottabad secured a berth in the final of National T20 Cup for the first time after storming to a seven-wicket victory with 13 balls to spare.

Abbottabad’s chase was built around immaculate striking by openers Fakhar Zaman and Sajjad Ali Jnr, both of whom hit a combined 12 sixes. The first-wicket stand yielded 113 runs in quick time, putting the pressure on the Peshawar bowlers.

Sajjad smashed his third fifty on the trot, taking a special liking to Peshawar captain Iftikhar Ahmed’s bowling as he deposited him for four maximums in one over. Mohammad Imran ended his stay at the crease after he accumulated 57 in 29 balls with seven sixes and a solitary four.

Next batter in, Kamran Ghulam, was dismissed cheaply for four but Fakhar continued to unleash lusty blows to motor the chase. The star batter finished with an unbeaten 79 off 46 deliveries, studded with five maximums and eight boundaries.

Abbottabad’s winning runs also came off a six that Afaq Ahmed struck Abbas Ali over long-off, emblematic of the team’s dominance today. Imran was the only Peshawar bowler who threatened the opposition as he gave away 18 runs in his four overs including one wicket.

Earlier in the day, Abbottabad’s decision to bowl first reaped rewards as leading run-getter of the tournament Sahibzada Farhan (15, 10b, 3x4s) was removed early by Aqib Khan. Left-arm pacer Shahab Khan then got the big wickets of Mohammad Haris (16, 21b, 1x4, 1x6) and Iftikhar Ahmed (0, 2b) in his first over to leave Peshawar four down for 75.

Israrullah then launched a brilliant counterattack, smoking 10 fours and three sixes in his 34-ball 73 at a strike rate in excess of 210. However, Israrullah found little support at the other end as no other batter crossed the 20-run mark.

Shahab ran through the Peshawar line-up, bagging five scalps – his second five-fer of the competition. He was duly named player of the match.

The second semi-final will take place between Karachi Whites and Rawalpindi at the same venue later today. Toss will be conducted at 1930 PKT while the first ball is set to be bowled at 2000 PKT.

Rawalpindi have won the toss & elected to bat first

Abbottabad going to the final also proves the point that KPK are the big daddy of Pakistan cricket team.

In the 2nd Semi-Final of the National T20 Cup 2023 against Rawalpindi, Yasir Khan of Karachi Whites was stumped by Azam Khan and bowled by Danish Aziz. Rawalpindi is currently 62/2 after 8.4 overs.

Yaqoob has a nice action but isn't powerful enough to bowl with such a short run up. Just needs an extra yard or 2 in his runup

That catch by Azam Khan was brilliant off Dahani’s bowling

2nd Semi-Final, National T20 Cup 2023

Rawalpindi vs Karachi Whites

Innings Break

Rawalpindi 177/5 (20 overs)

Kashif bowling with some serious heat. A real propect based upon his pace. What I saw last year was an 83mph bowler today some of these balls into the 90s. The stats don't look good but they were just slogging him.

first time watching ammad bat, nice timing and bat swing, like his approach, shot selection a bit random tho.

Azam Khan playing a match winning knock.

In T20's, I think he is Pakistan's best option in the middle order.

Unfortunately he won't get to face bilawal bhatti at international level. Let's not forget he averages 2 with 50 odd strike rate lol. Even Chris martin can do better.

The Karachi Pinid match is getting close! Has made for good Saturday night watching

And he's had good expirence playing in the Windies, could be a good option

Excellent tournament.

Well done PCB for giving exposure to all good/decent cricketers in Pakistan. Now you have a real picture of what you must improve going forward

Great call here Rana. They looked unbeatable!

Great call here Rana. They looked unbeatable!
It was on the cards. Iftikhar was about to botch the chase yesterday too against FATA. He really needs to get out of this “I need 10 balls to get going” mentality.

Karachi Whites advanced to the final of AH Group presents Jazz Super 4G National T20 Cup 2023-24 as they beat Rawalpindi by four wickets in the second semi-final. They will take on Abbottabad in the final on Sunday at National Bank Stadium, Karachi. The toss will take place at 1930 PKT and the first ball will be bowled at 2000 PKT.

Earlier in the evening, Rawalpindi won the toss and elected to bat first. Shahnawaz Dahani struck with the new ball as he dismissed the out-of-form Haider Ali (2, 4b). The other opener Yasir Khan (8, 10b, 1x6) failed to get going as well even after clubbing one six. Umar Amin walked into bat during the fifth over and finished with an unbeaten 82 from 47 balls comprising of nine boundaries and three maximums.

Zeeshan Malik (32, 34b, 1x4, 2x6s) and Mohammad Nawaz (35, 17b, 4x4s, 2x6s) played around Umar as they contributed towards keeping the innings together. Rawalpindi hit a total of 14 boundaries and eight towering sixes that took them to 177-5. Karachi Whites used seven bowlers but only Shahnawaz Dahani, Sohail Khan and Danish Aziz managed to get a breakthrough for their team.

Karachi Whites’ pursuit of the chase was intentful as Khurram Manzoor bludgeoned his way to a five-ball 18 before being dismissed in the first over. Ammad Alam continued the charge as he smoked three sixes in his 19-ball stay at the crease accumulating 24 runs.

Mehran Mumtaz struck in back-to-back overs to jolt Karachi Whites’ momentum. The departure of Omair Bin Yousuf (25, 22b, 1x4, 1x6) and Danish Aziz (22, 14b, 1x4, 1x6) in a space of four overs tilted the balance of the game.

Azam Khan (38, 25b, 2x4s, 3x6s) took the game in Karachi Whites’ favour as he launched a barrage of boundaries against Bilawal Bhatti in the 16th over, ransacking 20 runs. The baton was then passed to veteran Anwar Ali, who showcased glimpses of his heydays with an unbeaten 15-ball 25 hitting two sixes and one four.

Sohail Khan befittingly hit the winning runs as Karachi Whites got over the line with 11 balls to spare. Kashif Ali and Bilawal Bhatti conceded 89 runs in their six overs taking only one wicket. Azam Khan was declared player of the match for his breezy knock.

Scores in brief:

Player of the match – Azam Khan (Karachi Whites)

Honestly speaking, the super 8s have been good

Really happy for Abbottabad to make it to the semis. They can cause an upset and go on to win the tournament
poor quality of cricket overall.

poor quality of cricket overall.
What do you want it to be? At the standard of IPL?

The super 8s was pretty much PSL level without the international pros or the decent national team players

It’s a respectable standard

The super 8 stage was very interesting and Peshawar losing to Abbottabad proved that if it is not your day, you cannot do much even though your team was undefeated the whole tournament.

Ammad Alam has impressed me the most.
Yes, he has been the find of the tournament as a batter. Aggressive, can smash the bowl hard, and has all the shots. The technique can be a bit better but it will improve in the future when he is groomed.

Unfortunately your view of cricket doesn’t align with modern standards like mine does.
Nothing to di with alignment. Supporting a franchise( especially in cricket) is the equivalent supporting coca cola or Pepsi but with a local twist . In 20 or 30 years it might charge but for the foreseeable future most fans will follow players, not teams. That doesn't mean it's everyone but most don't care too much either way.

Final-National T20 Cup 2023

Abbottabad vs Karachi Whites, Karachi

8:00 PM PST

Karachi off to a decent start
32-1 in 4 overs
but they will need a big score because dew should set it later and they need to account for Fakkhar

The more I watch Ammad the more convinced I am that he will struggle against international bowlers along with omair. Imo both are domestic level players.

In the National T20 Cup 2023 final against Karachi Whites, Abbottabad's Shahab Khan has bowled impressively, securing figures of 3/27 in his three overs so far.

Shahab Khan did great again in the National T20 Cup 2023 final. As he did it in Semi Final against Peshawar.

He took four wickets for 28 runs in four overs today in final. Shahab has been fantastic throughout the tournament, showing how skilled he is. His performance in the final proves that he's a key player for Abbottabad.

What happened to Anwar Ali's run up? He's taking 5 steps and delivering like a spinner. Not that his pace would've changed much anyways. But unless this is some tactic that I don't know. This is quite disappointing.

Who is this Shahab Khan? Picking wickets and scoring crucial runs for fun for his team. Worth a look for the national side?

Abbottabad looking a bit shaky while chasing the target, possibly feeling the pressure of the final game.

They are at 36/3 after 8 overs and cant afford to lose any more wickets now.

Karachi Whites won the final against Abbottabad by 9 runs to take on the title of the National T20 Cup 2023.

Karachi Whites beat Abbottabad by nine runs

Karachi Whites 155-9, 20 overs (Khurram Manzoor 53, Omair Bin Yousuf 36, Danish Aziz 22; Shahab Khan 4-28, Adil Naz 2-23, Fayyaz Khan 2-34)

Abbottabad 146-9, 20 overs (Atizaz Habib Khan 43 not out, Fayyaz Khan 23, Fakhar Zaman 19, Ahmed Khan 19; Shahnawaz Dahani 3-16, Danish Aziz 2-18, Anwar Ali 2-26, Aftab Ibrahim 2-30)

Player of the match – Shahnawaz Dahani (Karachi Whites)

Karachi Whites created history at National Bank Stadium as they defeated Abbottabad by nine runs in the AH Group Presents Jazz Super 4G National T20 Cup final to clinch their first-ever title win. The last time Karachi Whites reached the National T20 Cup final was back in the 2016-17 season, when they lost to Karachi Blues at Multan Cricket Stadium.

Yasir Shah won the toss for Abbottabad and invited Karachi Whites to bat first. Right-arm seamer Adil Naz struck early to dismiss Ammad Alam for just five runs in the third over. A 71-run partnership between Khurram Manzoor and Omair Bin Yousuf brought stability to the innings.

Left-arm quick Shahab Khan then broke the partnership by dismissing Khurram, who scored a valuable half-century (53, 46b, 9x4s, 1x6). Omair (36, 30b, 9x4s, 1x6) later fell to left-arm pacer Fayyaz Khan.

Danish Aziz chipped in with 22 from 12, including two fours and a six, before the left-hander was removed by Shahab. Danish’s dismissal saw Shahab complete four wickets in the match, following his five-wicket haul in the semi-final. His fellow quicks, Adil and Fayyaz, ended with two scalps each.

Karachi Whites finished with 155-9 in the stipulated 20 overs.

Right-arm pacer Shahnawaz Dahani got rid of Sajjad Ali Jnr in his first over as Abbottabad set out to chase 156. The Yasir Shah-led side thus struggled to settle on the crease from the start as the opposition bowlers kept mounting pressure by delivering the ball on the right lengths.

Successive wickets fell, bringing Abbottabad to 57-3 at the halfway mark. Atizaz Habib Khan, who came to the crease after the fifth wicket fell, played a fighting knock to keep his team alive in the game. He hit an unbeaten 43 from 26, including six fours and a maximum.

Shahnawaz took back-to-back wickets in the 18th over to further push Abbottabad into a corner, countering the batting onslaught unleased by Atizaz from the other end. For his economic spell, he was adjudged player of the match as well.

Atizaz was supported by Fayyaz (23, 9b, 3x6s), who smashed three sixes after coming to bat in the 18th over to bring his team close to the target. However, he was caught in the last over and his team fell 10 runs short of the target, ending at 146-9 in 20 overs.

Shahab Khan ended as the tournament’s highest wicket taker. He took 25 wickets in 10 games at 11.64, including two five-fers and as many four-fers and was named best bowler of the tournament.

Best batter of the tournament award was given to Peshawar’s Sahibzada Farhan for 492 runs in 12 games, including a century and four half-centuries.

Abbottabad’s Sajjad Ali Jnr, with 442 runs and 10 dismissals in 12 matches, was the most successful wicketkeeper in the tournament.

For his all-round performance in the tournament, Iftikhar Ahmed was declared player of the tournament. In 12 games, he had 395 runs at a strike-rate of 163.90, including four half-centuries, and 18 wickets at 15.05.

Karachi Whites came into the National T20 Cup having won the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy and finished second in the Pakistan Cup. They defeated Faisalabad in the final of the premier first-class competition at Gaddafi Stadium and lost the Pakistan Cup final to Peshawar at Pindi Cricket Stadium.

Scores in brief:

Karachi Whites beat Abbottabad by nine runs

Karachi Whites 155-9, 20 overs (Khurram Manzoor 53, Omair Bin Yousuf 36, Danish Aziz 22; Shahab Khan 4-28, Adil Naz 2-23, Fayyaz Khan 2-34)

Abbottabad 146-9, 20 overs (Atizaz Habib Khan 43 not out, Fayyaz Khan 23, Fakhar Zaman 19, Ahmed Khan 19; Shahnawaz Dahani 3-16, Danish Aziz 2-18, Anwar Ali 2-26, Aftab Ibrahim 2-30)

Player of the final – Shahnawaz Dahani (Karachi Whites)

Player of the tournament – Iftikhar Ahmed (Peshawar); 395 runs and 18 wickets

Best batter of the National T20 Cup – Sahibzada Farhan (Peshawar); 492 runs

Best bowler of the National T20 Cup – Shahab Khan (Abbottabad); 25 wickets

Best wicket-keeper of the National T20 Cup – Sajjad Ali Jnr (Abbottabad); 442 runs and 10 dismissals

Nice to see Karachi win. They have consistently dominated across format for the past two seasons now and its all thanks to the inclusion and development of their younger players.

Worth pointing out that Azam Khan took an absolutely incredible catch for the first wicket.

Fakhar got bamboozled by Anwar Ali cutter which was one heck of a delivery and turned out to be the turning point in the match.

Karachi definitely have the smartest, most intelligent cricketers in Pakistan. They clearly do follow what’s going on around the world and want to replicate it in their cricket

Karachi Whites are the well-deserved winners of the National T20 Cup 2023 title. They played modern-day cricket throughout the tournament. Ammad Alam is a future star and was an important part of Karachi Whites.
