Never trust the word of some people who think abbottabad top 6 is good.

without any surprise, they advocate for some of the worst/bland white ball batsmen for international cricket as well.

After a day’s rest in the AH Group presents Jazz Super 4G National T20 Cup 2023-24, the Super Eight stage action returned across three venues in Karachi.

Peshawar, Rawalpindi and Lahore Blues took the honours with triumphs in their respective games. The last match of the day is set to start between Karachi Whites and Sialkot at 2000 PKT. The coin toss will take place at 1930 PKT.

Lahore Whites vs Rawalpindi at UBL Sports Complex

Rawalpindi secured a vital five-wicket win as they chased a target of 147 in 19.1 overs against Lahore Whites. Saad Nasim, Lahore Whites captain, won the toss and elected to bat first earlier in the day. Zaman Khan drew first blood as he dismissed a well-set Muhammad Akhlaq (37, 21b, 7x4s, 1x6). Lahore Blues lost Tayyab Tahir (22, 17b, 3x4s), Ahmed Shehzad (27, 29b, 1x4) and Saad Khan (6, 5b) in consecutive overs as Mubasir Khan and Jahandad Khan kept making inroads. Skipper Saad Nasim’s unbeaten 27-ball 33 laced with one six and two fours made sure Lahore Whites put up a competitive total on the board.

In reply, Rawalpindi openers scored briskly as they plundered 55 runs in 5.2 overs before Zeeshan Malik (21, 17b, 4x4s) had to depart. Lahore Whites then got three quick wickets including that of the in-form opener Yasir Khan (33, 28b, 4x4s). Skipper Umar Amin (25, 25b, 2x4s) joined forces with Mohammad Nawaz (22 not out, 23b, 2x4s) and made sure to take Rawalpindi close to the target. In the end, a timely cameo by Jahandad Khan (17 not out, 6b, 2x4s, 1x6) was crucial in taking Rawalpindi over the line.

Jahandad Khan was declared player of the match for his all-round heroics.

Lahore Blues vs FATA at NBP Sports Complex

At NBP Sports Complex, Lahore Blues put up a valiant effort to defend a total of 153 runs as FATA fell nine short of the target. Lahore Blues won the toss and elected to bat first. Opening batter Umar Siddiq (40, 28b, 5x4s, 2x6s) looked in good touch as he kept churning boundaries while his fellow opener Imran Butt (15, 24b, 1x4) struggled in the middle. Hussain Talat (57 not out, 36b, 2x4s, 1x6) led Lahore Blues from the front as he smashed an unbeaten fifty. Wicketkeeper-batter Junaid Ali’s (23, 15b, 3x4s) contribution also helped Lahore Blues post a decent total.

FATA’s pursuit of the chase was jolted by the loss of four wickets by the 50-run mark. Khushdil Shah (54, 42b, 2x4s, 3x6s) and Rehan Afridi (35, 30b, 4x4s) got together and kept FATA in the game. Kashif Bhatti struck at a crucial point in the game to remove both Khushdil and Rehan, which dented FATA’s chances of success. Hunain Shah bagged two wickets in the last over and kept FATA tail-enders at bay from pulling off anything magical.

Hussain Talat and Nisar Ahmed bagged joint player of the match award for their efforts with bat and ball respectively.

Peshawar vs Abbottabad at National Bank Stadium

Peshawar registered yet another magnificent win in the Super Eight stage as they beat Abbottabad by 21 runs. With this triumph, Iftikhar Ahmed-led Peshawar have also secured a semi-final berth. Peshawar openers Sahibzada Farhan (64, 40b, 7x4s, 3x6s) and Israrullah (22, 12b, 3x4s, 1x6), came out all guns blazing. Mohammad Haris (64, 49b, 6x4s, 2x6s), batting at number three, struggled early on but then became the glue for Peshawar’s innings with a fine half-century. Iftikhar Ahmed’s (28, 16b, 1x6, 3x4s) contribution saw the team surge to 195-4 in the allotted 20 overs.

In reply, Abbottabad lost three batters early in the powerplay but then Kamran Ghulam and Afaq Ahmed stitched a 92-run partnership that kept them in the game. Peshawar’s bowling effort was led by Mohammad Abbas Afridi, who bagged three wickets. He was also aided by fellow pacer Mohammad Imran and Iftikhar Ahmed as they kept Abbottabad in check.

Imran Khan Snr took the prized wicket of Kamran Ghulam. Only three Abbottabad batters managed to enter double-figures. Sahibzada Farhan was declared player of the match for his brilliant knock with the bat.

Karachi Whites need 166 runs in 19.2 overs to win from Sialkot , RRR: 8.59

Saim Ayub
Ammad Alam
Mohammad Harris
Azam Khan
Omair bin Yousuf

Absolute FIRE top 5

Very annoying from Ammad looks good all the time but always throws it away. He definitely has talent but needs to use it. Wouldn't mind him in the t20s squad.

Why is khurram still playing he a 40 year old with no future. All he's doing is blocking a youngster development.

Yes looks to have all the shots in the book. But always throws away his wicket typical Pakistani batsman. Need to blood him in better than imam ul haq and shafique

He's better than Imam at t20 but Abdullah is equally good. I like Ammad but he only for t20 potentially odis. Doesn't have the technique to succeed at test.

Karachi Whites beat Sialkot by six wickets at National Bank Stadium, Karachi

Looks like Karachi are the ones producing the best white ball batsmen

I mean it is t20. Throwing it away is part of the whole thing

Never trust the word of some people who think abbottabad top 6 is good.

Never trust the word? I am always right

It's shocking and disappointing to see some of the best spinners we are seeing in this tournament are the likes of Qadir, Danish Aziz (laughable) and Ifti. The spin stocks are just so poor.

Any single notable pace all-rounder either?

Most of the runs are being scored by the top order too and there is hardly any notable names in the middle order that have potential. There's Azam Khan but he'll always be one mistake away from fan's ire due to his weight. Qasim Akram has had a pedestrian season which is unfortunate. I still think there is potential in him long-term but he needs to show more, particularly in white ball which is where he should be best suited.

So much moaning about spreading the teams

Abbotabad rack 200. They batted really well last night as well. Thank God these boys are getting a chance to showcase their talent with the bat. They were nowhere to be seen in the 6 team format.

Kamran Ghulam and Sajjad Ali are consistently performing for Abbottabad in this season of National T20 Cup 2023

Where was Ammad Alam, Sajid Ali, Afaq in the 6 team tournament?

Where were the 3 young, well built pacers of Lahore whites in the 6 team tournament?

There is no way whatsoever Shahzad deserves to be picked for the national side over Sahibzada Farhan

It would be an absolute travesty if this happens

Shahzad even now, in the form of his life at this level isn’t a better option to open the batting over Babar and Rizwan….

That says a lot

Poor coverage today

Too many times the streaming went and now sound quality issues

Shahab Khan bowled well for Abbottabad his bowling figures are 4/33.

This is the 2nd time he has taken 4+ wickets in an innings in this National T20 Cup 2023.

You need a strong lobby to get selected. There have been many cases where talented players were ignored.

The pool of batters in Pakistan is strong now. We are witnessing good-quality batters emerging from Pakistan's domestic scene. The main issue now lies with spinners.

Excellent match today. FATA messed it up, they should have won had they fielded slightly better

This Ammer Azmat guy looks a quality batsmen. Plays proper strokes and has a range of them. Deserves another chance in the PSL. Can be a good back up player in the Pakistan middle order as he plays spin well.

What did Shahzad do today? Go missing as usual against a proper team?

He’s finished like Umar akmal needs to retire. The other guy that opened with him looks a proper player. And I’ve seen some good batting talent coming though especially openers

I liked nisar. Looked decently quick with good height. Also liked Mohammad Amir Khan, he seems workable and has good energy behind the bowl.

I think we also lack a little in pace battery as well. Or maybe it is just t20 batters overshadowing the pacers this time around

Faiq Butt right? He has talent.

All these talented guys should be kept under the radar, connected through with the NCA and let them player another season or two before considering them in Pakistan plans. This is where the NCA role plays in and also the A tours.

Good batters for which format?

Pakistan as a batting nation are behind as a batting unit.

They bat in T20 like the best teams bat in ODI.

Abbottabad’s chase was anchored by opening batter Sajjad Ali Jnr (60, 41b, 6x4s, 2x6s) and the experienced Kamran (69, 45b, 5x4s, 4x6s), who stitched a second-wicket partnership of 83 runs. Nisar Ahmed took two wickets for Lahore Blues while all other bowlers except Asfand Mehran took one scalp each.

Kamran was awarded player of the match for his all-round contribution.

Peshawar vs FATA at National Bank Stadium

Peshawar beat FATA by six wickets as they hunted down the target of 181 in 19.4 overs. Earlier, Peshawar’s decision to field first looked to backfire as FATA plundered 180 runs losing only three wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Opening batter Samiullah Jnr (10, 11b, 1x4) was removed early on by Mohammad Imran but then the other opener Rehan Afridi launched a counterattack. 31-year old Rehan smashed an unbeaten 90 from 56 balls consisting of eight boundaries and four sixes. Salman Khan Jnr (21 not out, 13b, 1x4, 1x6) also contributed at the end of the innings to take FATA to 180-3.

Peshawar’s chase was highlighted by Sahibzada Farhan’s (74, 40b, 7x4s, 5x6s) belligerent batting right from the start. After Sahibzada was dismissed in the 13th over, Iftikhar Ahmed (45, 29b, 2x4s, 3x6s) took charge of the innings and remained unbeaten to seal the triumph in last over.

Only Khushdil Shah managed two wickets while other bowlers remained wicketless. Sahibzada Farhan was declared player of the match for his brilliant batting.

Who’s picking Haider Ali in the PSL Draft? My guess is:

NO ONE

Deserves the humiliation. When he was in England playing county cricket he was more interested eating at flashy restaurants and smoking Shisha rather than working hard and learning the basics on how to bat.

Should retire he’s finished

A lot of oldies still dominating that list. But glad to see Mohammad Imran there.

Karachi, 8 December 2023: The Super Eight stage of AH Group presents Jazz Super 4G National T20 Cup concluded with Karachi Whites beating Rawalpindi by a whopping margin of 86 runs.

Karachi Whites finished second on the Super Eight stage points table while Rawalpindi finished fourth which means both these teams will lock horns again in the second semi-final at 2000 PKT tomorrow. The first semi-final will be played between table-toppers Peshawar and third ranked Abbottabad at 1500 PKT.

After electing to bat first, Karachi Whites lost their dynamic opening batter, Ammad Alam (8, 7b) early in the fray. Omair Bin Yousuf, batting at No 3, looked in good rhythm as he top-scored with 46 from 39 balls while hitting four boundaries and three sixes. Danish Aziz (43, 26b, 2x4s, 3x6s) and Azam Khan (34 not out, 19b, 2x4s, 3x6s) joined forces in the middle-order and put on a vital partnership of 67 runs that helped Karachi Whites surge to 170-5. Jahandad Khan managed to pick up three wickets.

Rawalpindi’s chase was an absolute train-wreck as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Sohail Khan and Anwar Ali struck with the new ball as both the Rawalpindi opening batters, Yasir Khan (10, 10b, 2x4s) and Nasir Nawaz (5, 15b), returned to the hut.

Skipper Umar Amin and Haider Ali were undone on back-to-back balls by Danish Aziz leaving Rawalpindi 29-4. Mohammad Nawaz was the lone warrior as he battled for his 21-ball 32 hitting two boundaries and two sixes. Leg-spinner Arif Yaqoob chipped in with three wickets, becoming the leading wicket-taker of the tournament.

Rawalpindi were eventually bundled out for a paltry 84 in 14.1 overs. Danish Aziz was declared player of the match for his useful contributions with both bat and ball.

Umer Akmal has become a tail-ender type batter. Needed to be replaced and look what his replacement did. Superb

Honestly speaking, the super 8s have been good

Really happy for Abbottabad to make it to the semis. They can cause an upset and go on to win the tournament

Yeah underdog story is always good, but that being said, Pehawar look unbeatable right now.
