Too many old age cricketers in squad hurts more than having upcoming youngsters. Remember Pakistan 2003 world cup campaign?
You are just saying that you need to win the trophy at all cost and then have no one in the team in next 10 years to carry Pakistan forward. Malik and Hafeez are not Ponting or Lara.
Give youngsters a chance let them try their best. If they lose, they will learn from their mistakes and may end up delivering in the long run.
Long term success will always be greater than short term success. World T20 is not the Pinnacle of cricket. Just hit and giggle format. I do not really care who wins. The only benefit that format has is that it helps youngsters grow as a cricketer and you even want to take that out of the equation too? Prime example is Warner.
Senior players should rather provide their services in Test cricket. Oh wait? The so called seniors do not even want to play that format. Our priorities are messed up, hence our standings in all formats.
These youngsters should first perform in domestic cricket before we start handing caps.
Khushdil has 0 performances, the question isn't about potential but merit.
Khushdil does not merit a spot. Neither does Asif Ali. Nor Azam Khan.
If there were people performing better than Malik and Hafeez, I would be the first to get rid of them. With a dry cupboard, we are harming ourselves if we pick those who are failing, and further humiliate them at the international stage.

Shadab at 5 is the biggest joke you could say on this forum. The guy is a liability with the ball, and even worse with the bat. He is no #5, not even close to being a #7 batsman either. He has age on his side but continues to avoid FC and List A domestic tournaments to grow as a cricketer.
Nawaz is in the same boat. He's had numerous opportunities to showcase some talent with the bat at the international level and has constantly failed. However, he at least respects the system and plays domestic cricket to improve himself.
We don't need Kamran Akmal because our keeping options are fine. I'm talking about positions where the cupboard is completely dry: competent middle-order batsmen.
People on this forum treat those who support the selection of Malik/Hafeez as some criminals who hate seeing youngsters perform. I couldn't be happier that Haider is using his brain to bat nowadays, I already said I would be willing to consider his selection due to his versatility and age.
However, Khushdil, Talat, Asif, Azam are all liabilities with the bat. They do not merit selection ahead of Malik in any way, shape or form.

Malik is the best of the limited set of options available.
I would rather take a guy who is performing rather than banking my cards on an inconsistent "what if" player.
Have a blend of experience and youth in the team. However, keep some options there for the WC if the youth isn't performing.
I'd have said take Haider but he is probably not going to be selected.
