No news regarding Pakistan Cup 2018 so far. Any idea whether its happening this year or has it been scrapped? Was a decent tournament last year with high scoring competitive matches.

I have no idea. This is so typical from the PCB. Leave fans in the dark for so long, I hope it does happen though as is probably the highest quality one day tournament in Pakistan's domestic season and can help us judge whether 1 or 2 players are ready for internationals.

Exactly. This is so unprofessional especially after the tournament has gained decent popularity over the last two years. The crowd was also not bad last year in Pindi, particularly towards the end of the cup. I remember 350+ scores were being made and chased. These guys need to get their act together, seems like the focus is solely on PSL, T20 and now T10.

It used to happen in April, yes. But you never know with the PCB as they might announce a two weeks tournament tomorrow.

If it does not happen in the upcoming months then there will be no domestic cricket till Sept-Oct except for the Ramadan tourneys.

It should happen. But with PCB there are no certainties other than screeming about the memo referendum.

Any info about the teams bro? Or will we find out on the day of the tournament.

He said he has 3-4 years left in him. Get ready for a show guys :kakmal

This is the 2nd most domestic tournament that I look forward too (After QeA of course), also with Grade II cricket (Patrons and QeA II happening simultaneously rigth now) I would think that teams could get a few emerging blokes from these if necessary!
Abdullah719 bro will these be telecasted?

No clue about teams or telecast yet guys.

Wait till April 25th. :genius

Didn't I tell you guys? So typical of the PCB.

Wouldn't the bulk of our best talent be away on the tour to UK+Ireland? How will the emerging players improve if they don't play the best we have to offer? Superb planning from PCB as always.

Apart from Farhad Zaman none is in pcbboaln for future captaincy. Are they making imad Qasim in near future which will be disaster

Sigh. The squads are quite mediocre. How did the best fast bowler of the last edition, Ghulam Mudassar, not get picked here?
babajee Looks like Faheem is confirmed for the tests tour. Fakhar and Fawad miss out.

Can you replace this image with the one I had originally posted. The quality is a lot better.

That means we aren’t taking a spinner to England? Shadab, Bilal, Asghar and Kashif are all in this tourney.

Nor really.

There are 12 players who are part of the training camp and missing from Pakistan Cup squads.

Sami
Imam
Azhar
Asad
Usman
Haris
Saad
Sarfaraz
Fahim
Amir
Hassan
Rahat.

3 spots are still up for grabs. Fawad can still make it

I am OK with the Sindh Squad minus Salman Butt of course and luckily enough we got the only Akmal with any relevant skill whatsoever.

Punjab opted for Viv Manzoor and Water Weight in the same squad :14: :14: :ma

Ttfs galore. This is just ridiculous. On top of my head the following players are missing.

Nasir Nawaz
Zeeshan Malik
Saif badar
Kamran ghulam
Zafar gohar (doubt they will select him)
Umair masood
Arshad iqbal
Nauman Anwar
Ghulam mudasar

I am sure I have missed quite a few. What happened to that emerging quota. If they are gonna pick this trash they might as well call it buzarg tournament.

Exactly what I was thinking. He is usually selected for these tournaments but now he isn't.

Don't get your hopes high we have atgs playing this tournament hence he might be missing. If he is not selected for pakistan and not in this tournament then it really is disgraceful unless he's injured...

Ideally, would've like to see a few more youngsters get the nod ahead of some tried and tested players. These squads do have a few promising players —

• Rizwan Hussain (21) – Left-handed opener, recently had a really good FC season for Lahore Whites, 2 100s and 4 50s in 20 FC innings. Currently playing Patron's Trophy, scored a match-winning 2nd innings hundred for State Bank, highest scorer for them after 4 games.
• Abdul Samad (20) Right-handed opener, played two solid knocks for Faisalabad (62 and 130*) in the recently concluded Regional One Day Cup. Faisalabad's been the best region in recent past as far as new talent's concerned. Gave chances to Samad, Raees Ahmed, Asad Raza and Ahmed Safi Abdullah this season, all promising prospects.
• Rohail Nazir (16) – Right-handed top order batsman, probably one of Pakistan's most exciting prospects going around. See him captaining Pakistan U19 in the next World Cup. His game and mental strength must have improved working with someone like Dean Jones, has now been part of Islamabad United's title winning squad, Federal's Pakistan Cup winning squad last year and been involved with Omar Associates, one of Pakistan domestic's best-managed departments. Scored 81 in Pakistan U19 WC game against a highly potent Afghanistan bowling unit.
• Saud Shakeel (22) – Left-handed middle order batsman, one of the better, more mature batsmen in the domestic circuit currently. Had a breakthrough season for PTV, has improved his fitness and has all the shots needed to accelerate. Also has been surprisingly good with the ball recently. Record suggests he picks up wickets frequently with his SLAO, expect something similar to what Fakhar is capable of.
• Mohammad Saad (28) – Right-handed middle order batsman, Saad formed the backbone of WAPDA's batting unit in the previous Quaid-e-Azam Trophy scoring 3 100s and 2 50s on difficult batting tracks. In the recently concluded Regional One Day Cup, he averaged 77 in 7 games scoring 5 scores of 50+ (96, 100*, 72, 67 and 89) for Lahore Blues. Has scored heavily this season, definitely be exciting to watch.
• Danish Aziz (22) – Left-handed batsman and slow left-arm orthodox bowler, personally rate Danish Aziz to be a strong, useful prospect. Had a bad outing for Karachi Kings in the semis, but he's shown glimpses of being an aggressive hitter when given a chance both at the top of the order and lower down. Has enjoyed a good season with Karachi Whites and developed well under the tutelage of Azam Khan at Omar Associates.

These were the lesser known ones, otherwise excited to see how Shaheen Shah, Agha Salman, Amad Butt, Umaid Asif, Sahibzada Farhan and Irfan Jr. pick up from the good form they had during the Pakistan Super League. Good to see Zia Ul Haq back in the mix, seemed like he had fallen out of favor with the selectors and, of course, Sadaf Hussain getting some well-deserved airtime to show what he can offer.

The ONLY positive thing about the main players not being there is that some newbies will get a proper chance to prove themselves.

But yea the tournament will not be of that level in order to test them properly which is true as well.

Lol I just realized now that Zafar gohar, kamran ghulam, zeeshan Malik, umair Masood are in the reserves. This is beyond ridiculous. Does anyone how the teams were selected. I hope some of them are drafted as shadab ,fakhar won't be there.

Pcb for you.Sohail tanvir jo ha.

Wahab Riaz ruled out of the tournament as he’s due to have naval surgery. If sanity prevails, hopefully, we’ll see either Musa or Bashir take his place.

any word on Shazaib Hasan?

his ban is up

He has'nt returned. He is playing League cricket in UK for the summer.

There is a rehab process also where the player suppose to accept the decision of the tribunal and take some rehab steps assigned by Tribunal post finishing of the ban. Shahzaib has done neither.

thats a shame, destroying his own career

Mohammad Musa and Arshad Iqbal should have been picked.

Both were very promising in the U19 WC.
