South Africa finish Day 1 of the second Test against Pakistan in a commanding position at 316/4

Ryan Rickelton (176*) and Temba Bavuma (106) steered the hosts through the second and third sessions, with Salman Agha's 2/55 standing out as the only positive for the visitors.

Can Pakistan bounce back on Day 2?

Pakistan team have lost it already mentally...only a miracle can save them now. I doubt this Test would go beyond third day.

Chase the leather it will be , only interested to see how Babar goes as an opener , with Ayub limped away the wheels were off, unfortunately 8th Test defeat in 10 games loading for Shan Masood Khan s/o Masood Khan member BOG PCB via HBL :kakmal

So Saim Ayub is out of the rest of the test.

They're saying he could well be out of the CT too next month depending how serious his condition is and how long it'll take him to regain full fitness.

Unfortunate he will 2x Tests against WI

Saffers will roll the pitch and look to hit that 500 mark. PAK need to draw this Test somehow. Win is out of the equation realistically speaking.

If Aqib was praised for the strategy to win the England test series then he should be blamed for this test series too. Leaving out Shaheen, and then not fielding a spinner or directing Siam to bowl part time spinners last match when pacers were struggling to break partnerships, are awful tactics.

That's different.

I agree aqib isn't exactly sunshine and rainbows, however even when Pakistan was ranked no 1 test side, that same test side got butchered in sa and aus, it was a pretty poor overseas team excluding England where it did shockingly well.

Aqib simply gave Pakistan the same conditons that misbah gave them in uae.

The first Test was winnable but Pakistani bowlers goofed up, otherwise Pakistan should have won that.

As for the 2nd test, SA simply took note of Pakistan's past performances and prepared a flat track. Because SA knows that Pakistan is incapable of outbatting any opposition hence it's awful record at home ore Eng series.

Ya so true bro people here are taking dig dont see we were inches away from winning first test spinners would have sealed the job and not to forget sa haven't provided them sporting track they know pak can actually win there they give them flat track so aqib team has competed here and bro is saim ayub out of champions trophy that will be huge blow he is like travis head for pakistan?

What difference would Shaheen have made once the ball lost its newness?

Rickleton who batted the longest didn’t feel SA have enough here.

Still Pakistan could do well if they keep them below 400

No clue on Saim, no reports as of yet.

As for aqib, Aqib isn't all sunshine and rainbows. He hasn't been the perfect selector. I'll list his positives and negatives for you and @PakPremi

Positives

1) He curated a test pitch similar to uae conditons.

2) Selected sajid khan and noman Ali + Lamran ghulam and dropped rubbish dead weights like babar. All 3 players proved vital on beating England.

3) Backed saim when saim was on the verge of being dropped and saim won Pakistan all it's odi series since aqib came into office.

4) Dropped dead weights like chacha, Shadab, Nawaz etc etc once and for all.

5) Backs newbies, He still hasn't given up on usman khan etc, Gave abrar a chance in pdi and t20 when babar wasn't willing, dropped babar from zim to try out other players like tayyab etc etc.

Negatives

1) He's probably the most brainless t20 selector i have ever seen. Farhan, Agha as vc and rizwan as t20 cap is hilarious. Rizwan as odi cap is fine, choosing a 120 sr batter in t20 as your captain is comical. Aqib has zero understanding of t20.

2) For some reason he doesn't back Saud in odi, even though saud can easily replace niazi or Abdullah who add nothing.

3) Whats the obsession with Abdullah? Fakhar is your main man? Heck even imam who's rubbish is leagues > Abdullah is a test and odi batter? So what's the deal with Abdullah and Hasebullah?

So far he hasn't been bad, but it seems like pakistan will remain a garbage t20 and garbage overseas test touring side under aqib.

They won't. Their already at 316. Their defo crossing 400 tmr.

It's not looking good for Pakistan.

If SA crosses 450, this will be a battering in terms of how the match turns out.

I think Shaheen himself has taken a short break from test cricket and told the board not to consider him for red ball matches until the champions trophy.

That’s the difference between Shaheen (Pak already don’t play many tests. Pak played just 6 tests in 2024. England a staggering 17) and someone like Cummins or Bumrah

Pakistan really needed a spinner here instead of Jamal. He is useless. Also Mir Hamza is like a bowling machine. no real venom in his bowling so far.

South Africa is in strong position now. Batting is looking pretty easy atm

Wait for Paksitan batter to come and bat on this pitch and then the demons will crawl out and this batting line will fail.

Heartbreaking to lose that 1st Test and then witness this typical Pakistani performance we are used in SA/Aus. A day in and match is over barring a catastrophe collapse by SA.

Pakistan must be deflated specially with saim out. I expect a complete meltdown from Pakistan

Women pacers get massive swing while bowling 115-125 kph.

Mir Hamza should cut his pace and look to swing the ball rather than bowl gun barrel straight at 130 kph.

so we have have bought another mediocre player(rickelton) to form, seems to be the case in almost every sena tour.on aus tour we transformed marsh into ponting and now we have transformed rickelton into bradman

This mir hamza is such an embarrassment to fast bowling.
Grunts like he bowls 150ks and delivers at 120ks

Lol mir hamza the phast bowler averages 46 in test cricket.

Why would anyone even select this epic trundler.

He is so terrible. Atleast abbas has performed for Pakistan before but this trundler is so useless

Ryan rickleton should not be too happy.
Runs against trundlers like mir hamza and others don't count. LOL

Wow he scored a 200*

India and Australia are looking on with jealousy - their entire teams put together can't match that score.

I don't understand why this mir guy grunts like that. He tries to intimidate batsmen with his grunts.

My firm belief is Pakistan lost that match for exact the reason of not bowling the part time spinners to break partnerships in both innings on time. In the first inning 2/3 overs Saim bowled he broke the low end partnership, and in 2nd inning despite a pacers looking helpless toward end Shan did not bring Agha or Saim to break that partnership. Even in this match it's Agha twice dismissed even top order batsmen. So I blame Shan as well Aqib for the pace only strategy.

It gets annoying after a while.

In the 90's bowlers use to grunt to fool batters because they were planning to deceive them with the slower ball.

This moron bowls slow by default? So what is he even trying to do?

Or is he telling the planet that his effort balls are 120kph 🤣🤣🤣🤣. If these are his effort balls, then I'm curious to seek how slow he normally bowls lol.

That's shan's fault. Aqib had no control over the playing 11. Just chooses the playing 15.

A valid criticism for aqib is that he dropped sajid khan. In which case I would agree. That's a goofup on his end.

How is he at fault if Shan chooses not to play noman? Or if Shan chooses not to have spinners bowl to the final 2 black tailenders?

Everyone's mama knows that sa black batters are garbage tailenders but their bunnies against spin?

The best black sa batter to come out of sa is bavuma and he's just a 37 avg test batter? So extremely medicore.

Lol he bowls at 118-120 range i have seen him do that.

Literally many female fast bowlers bowl faster than this embarrassment.LOL

I told people this yesterday. Sa ain't getting bundled for 400.

Verreyne looks like someone who is vulnerable to "chopping onto stumps" dismissal.

Think he'll prefer facing Khurram to Abbas
