Pakistan secure a tense 5 wicket victory in the historic one-off Test match against Ireland

Pakistan should calm down. Just play the first 10 overs carefully and see off the new ball.

I clearly remember SriLankan series happened the same way. Azhar Ali as usual opened his big mouth, got out to herath. And the rest were like ducks.

This looks like the end of Sarfaraz test captaincy and he has not even played against the big boys.

Got destroyed by Srilanka. A team who India plays around with. And now is getting into a tricky position with ireland. For the sake of humanity, please do not compare guys like asad shafiq and azhar ali with virat kohli. they can not even lick his boots.

Would have loved to see how Aussies and Indian batsmen fared on this pitch against these experinced swinging bowlers. According to me they also would have struggled

Sarfraz and Mickey should be fired for making the decision to enforce the follow-on in bright sunny conditions.
 
This might creates pressure on other batsmen and make them play defensive and you know what happens then ..

Both Azhar and Shafiq are rubbish and even Irish no. 10 and 11 have better techniques. Both of them have to be booted out after England series. In bouncy condition Azhar is worse than Hafeez

Test debutants as in Ireland man. Losing to a team playing their first match is literally the most embarrassing thing that can happen to a team. :afaq

Shafiq can not bat top an order. He should come after Fahim in bouncy condition.
 
Well the only positive I see that they are still looking for runs rather than playing out maiden after maiden.
 
Play out another 5 overs, and the game is ours. Just have to blunt the new ball, and then the pitch is fine.

No need to overreact. Game is still Pakistan's for the taking.

Bro r u feeling ok. They only need 3 bowlers here. They will be happy to bowl 15 overs each on adrenaline in half a day
The top 3 are plenty good enough in these conditions . That kane dude was quite unlucky 1st innings

They are just making Irish happy, so they would tour Pakistan. Otherwise there was no reason the Legend would not have run trough Irish batting.

Either way, this is humiliation. This Pakistan test team is one of the weakest in world cricket at the moment. I predicted this would happen a few weeks back. People expecting these newbs to score in conditions totally alien to them are kidding themselves.
 
People keep mocking the bowling attack but the opening bowlers are very good especially Rankin who has been terriric for my team Warwickshire, they lack in the spin department but have pace bowlers who can hit the right areas and get the best out of a new ball or green wicket
 
To be honest, I'm not that worried about the England series. Pakistan go as massive underdogs and are expected to be whitewashed 2-0 so there's no pressure on them to perform. Works well for these players and they can relax.

Also, Pakistan is a team that plays its opponent on their level. If we were to play Papua New Guinea tomorrow, we would most likely make a match out of it as well, however the very next day we'd be defeating India. We don't have one gear where we play all teams on that level.

Imam ul Haq has pleasantly surprised me. Though comparison here is purely relative. He is so much better than Shan Masood. The guy at least somewhat knows where the off stump is.
 
While this is humiliating to say the least, this could also be the making of Imam-ul-Haq if he scores a match winning 80 carrying his bat. Similarly it could kick start Babar's Test career as success in these kind of opportunities when the pressure is immense can propel your career. Hopefully these two can guide Pakistan home.

This same team lost to srilanka in UAE and destroyed in New Zeland and fans actually think it will be different against England.

It's one of the worst test batting line ups in cricket

I think the issue runs deeper than the inability to handle pressure; it is more of an issue of lack of skill and technique. We did well in England in 2016 because they conditions were helpful. The ball barely swung.

We will probably get similar conditions in the England series, and our batsmen will have no chance at all against a master like Anderson as well as the likes of Broad and Woakes.

Anything less than a whitewash would be a big achievement for this team.
 
Number of tests Pakistan has lost in last two years on day 5 is shocking. How can you lose pretty much every single match on last day :12:
 
I think this might as well be Pakistan's worst Test team ever.
 
What I hate about PP is that whenever something like this is on we get the " guys not playing would be saviours"
We would have the same issue with misbah and yk in these conditions and recent chase history is there for all to see.
Also we had out ATGs in Inzi and moyo in 2007.
We r capable of making tricky situations look unplayable.
But we can also make big boys look avg on days.

There is no fun in dominating a country play her first test. You have got to make it interesting for the fans!

Pakistan's Test Cricket has been embarrassingly substandard for last many years, and it continues to be. :facepalm:

Good fight by Ireland, could have won the match if it wasn't for a disastrous 1st inning performance.
