What are Pakistan going to achieve by playing a third class T20 team who even lost a series vs USA & UAE not a long time ago.

Whenever I read a Pakistan men’s squad without Babar and Rizwan’s name in it…

It reminds me of the beautiful times I had in my life when I supported Pakistan cricket team.

My love for PCB every time they announce a men’s squad without Babar and Rizwan in T20s

What did India achieve by smashing them in Gambhir’s first series? They are an ideal team to play when you are building a new squad and approach
Pakistan is playing back to back series against Bangladesh. :kp

He’s alright in BPL

Knows how to play here
Come on bro. Bangladesh should not be in any kind of calculation. Here all the matches are in mirpur, nawaj may thrive on low surfaces and survive till next wc damaging pak.

I think he is a decent addition. Not a great one but I don’t mind him tbf

When was our last test series? Feels like a long time ago now.

Sumair Ahmad Syed (COO, PCB):

Q: Could you please tell us a little bit that these are three T20 matches in Bangladesh. Along with that, we have to play back-to-back matches in Florida, maybe in Dallas. We have to play three T20s against West Indies. Will there be a separate team for that? And secondly, regarding the request made to West Indies to convert the ODI matches into T20s, have they honored this, or do they still stand as ODI matches?"

A: "Regarding West Indies, we will announce the team for that tour in the next few days. As for the ODI and T20 matches that we have to play against West Indies, our discussions with them are in the final stages. And because, as you know, in the coming days, in fact, at the beginning of next year, we have the T20 World Cup, so our effort is to provide the team with as much T20 exposure as possible. In this regard, we are going to play in Bangladesh, and we are also pursuing West Indies to convert these into T20s so that the team gets good exposure before the T20 World Cup. But, God willing, in a day or two, we will give you news regarding this as well."

Amir Mir (Advisor to the Chairman):

Q: All new boys have been included, Babar Azam and others are not there. Is this for the next World Cup? Has it been done for the future?

A: "Look, this is a T20 squad. The people you are mentioning are usually in the ODI squad. So this is a T20 squad. When the ODI squad is announced, then you will see which names are in it and which are not."

Q: Could you please tell us about the second phase of stadium renovation and other related work? When will it start, and what work needs to be done, given that the groundwork and other aspects are pending?

A: "Regarding the second phase of stadium renovation, we are currently working on Karachi Stadium first, and we will announce its plan soon. Our current priority is to make our administrative building functional, and we will, God willing, make it functional by the end of this month."

I also wanted to tell you that Salman Ali Agha will be the captain, and the West Indies squad will also be announced in the next few days. The concept of a vice-captain is not common anywhere in the world. So, this time we are only appointing a captain.

Good squad. I like the inclusion of Salman Mirza. He was impressive.

Ahmed Daniyal I'm not sure he makes it as a sole bowler. Maybe as bowling All Rounder.

Hussain Talat still has a long way to go. The brand of Cricket Pakistani youngsters are playing now. He'll need to catch up.

The opposition is Bangladesh anyways so I won't read into too much.

Quite interesting! Can’t recall a board COO taking the lead on team announcements before.

Pakistan men's white-ball and pre-Bangladesh series camp – Karachi

The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced the squad for the T20I series against Bangladesh, starting from 20 July in Dhaka. In addition to the T20I squad, the following players will also be part of the white-ball camp in Karachi (listed alphabetically):
•Babar Azam
•Mohammad Rizwan
• Mohammad Waseem Jr.
•Naseem Shah
•Shaheen Shah Afridi

Members of Pakistan’s T20I squad will assemble in Karachi on Tuesday, while the additional players for the white-ball camp will also report the same day.

I know we beat Bangladesh 3-0, more attacking brand of cricket etc, but couldn't we do with 1-2 more specialist batsmen in the squad ?

Seems like we're stacking our teams with allrounders.

Anyway don't mind the squad, good to see we're finally using these T20 bilaterals for experimentation.

Would have a another pacer in the team.

Also Sahibzada Farhan is a keeper???? Since when. He's only kept a few times. I know the alternate options are limited but still.

Anyway, like the squad as well the inclusion of Salman Mirza who has been pretty impressive in domestic cricket as well as seeing Sufiyaan in the team.

1. Sahibzada Farhan
2. Saim Ayub
3. Mohammad Haris (WK)
4. Agha Ali Salman (C)
5. Hasan Nawaz
6. Hussain Talat
7. Mohammad Nawaz
8. Abbas Afridi
9. Sufiyaan Muqeem
10. Salman Mirza
11. Abrar Ahmed

Some surprising selections in the bowling department but I don't mind them keep Shaheen & Naseem out and testing some newer guys. They know what those guys can do and if needed can always be brought back in.

Rauf & Shadab are injured which and their absence is felt. Shadab in particular, there is simply no spin allrounder and your 2nd best option is Nawaz who is quite mediocre these days. Arafat is probably the only one interesting & good one but he is raw. Either way no leggie allrounders and I think a big focus of PCB needs to be to develop more leg spinning allrounders. It's such a valuable commodity in T20's.

Glad they kept Babar/Rizwan out and for now, let the young dudes cook and see how far they can take you. Bangladesh conditions aren't exactly easy and pitches are unlikely to be high scoring so it will be a good test to see how these guys handle themselves on tougher/spinning conditions.

Wow, what an important series between 2 world class teams. I am sure the cricketing world will be waiting to watch this series while the rest of the teams are toiling it out in their whites in the summer heat!

No need for you to watch brother.

isnt it better to use Fakhar instead of Hussain Talat?

Team management:

Naveed Akram Cheema (manager), Mike Hesson (head coach), Ashley Noffke (bowling coach), Muhammad Hanif Malik (batting Coach), Shane McDermott (fielding Coach), Cliffe Deacon (physiotherapist), Grant Luden (strength and conditioning coach), Talha Ejaz (analyst), Syed Naeem Ahmad (media manager), Irtaza Komail (security manager), Dr. Wajid Ali Rafai (doctor) and Muhammad Ehsan (masseur)
Ok, Abbas Afridi seems like the lone pacer, Faheem Ashraf being an allrounder. Looks like more Coaches than players, LOL. If Bangladesh is the only team PCB can find to play against. Why not play Tests or maybe a few Odi. Playing just T20s is not how you build a squad.

The FTP planner from PCB needs to be questioned who scheduled barely any test cricket for Pak. Angry Pakistani posters on fb are stating that Pak's current schedule was planned under Ramiz's tenure.

Noffke is an interesting option for bowling coach. Never heard about Hanif Malik before. Grant Luden was strength and conditioning coach during 2016-19 as well. Hasan Ali was at his fittest during that time while Sohail Khan was struggling to reach 130kph after his second spell (not different from his 2011 fitness)

Farhaan
Saim
Haris
Fakhar/Fahim Ashraf
Agha
Hassan Nawaz
Khushdil
Salman Mirza
Ahmed Daniyal
Abrar
Sufiyaan Muqeem

Hussain Talat is the only dumb selection.

Ahmad Daniyal has pace but he seems to be another one of Aqib Javed's parchi (old Lahore Qalandar player). Fawad Ali is a better pace option as he was bowling 145+ kph. Akif Javed has also disappeared all of a sudden.

Not sure where Hassan ali went... He just made a comeback, and all of a sudden, he was rested/dropped... Why???

Rest of the team looks fine.. Good to see new guys in the squad... Salman mirza should play all 3 games.

Yes Pak could have been the 3rd/4th team in Zimbabwe T20 tri-series.

Seems like Hesson is very keen on developing a seam bowling allrounder in LOIs. Fahim and Talat both here. Salman Mirza, Abbas Afridi and Ahmed Danial are the only specialist pacers in the team. I guess 2 will play alongside Fahim. It sucks that we haven't produced an international seam bowling allrounder since Abdul Razzaq. Every one that was tried afterwards was just a part timer in one role at best. Hammad Azam, Bilawal, Arafat, Sohail Tanvir all of them. Aamer Jamal has looked he can both bat and bowl but has suffered arrested development. Looking at the bowling trajectory of Naseem Shah, he might end up becoming Pakistani James Franklin.

Fair enough but he is not youngsters for future development against weaker team best to try and give opportunities to likes of ubaid and ali raza.

Babar and Rizwan should have been tried here. They had a break and would have been raring to go. It is hard for me to support a team without either of them or Shaheen/Naseem but team over individuals always so I will support. In any case BD are a terrible team and will be beaten inside 35 overs. PSL teams are better than BD International Team. @Mainul @MMHS @sweep_shot @Bhaag Viru Bhaag

Momin bro happy with the squad no rizbabar finally pak has the new look t20 team great time to watch pak cricket again.
I think the squad we played last tour was better. Am not a fan of nawaz coming back and would have rather taken shadab over him even if I have issues with shadab.

Am glad Rauf is gone though.

Pcb has better options then nawaz, idkw they went back to him.

Ya arafat aur mehran should been there instead of nawaz but still its a good team with lots of good players.

@Aqib_mustafa what you need to bare in mind is that both Abrar and Sufyan are horrendous, atrocious fielders. On top of it, Abrar is the most village batsman in world cricket too whilst Sufyan still has some surprising ability with the bat

These two really need to improve their fielding and game awareness.

Quetta Gladiators had this issue and it really hurt them in the final.

They played 2 proper spinners in Abrar and Usman Tariq. Both bowled solid overs but if I recall both had to be hidden somewhere in the field and Usman did drop a crucial catch of a batter early on in his innings which hit the side as the batter went on to build a strong partnership.

You cannot afford such liabilities!

Ramiz Raja has shown satisfaction with PCT's squad combination for the Bangladesh tour, he said following on his YouTube channel:

“There have been two to three impressive comebacks — I’m especially happy about Mohammad Nawaz because he’s a very dedicated cricketer,”

“Similarly, I’m pleased with Hussain Talat’s selection. There’s a refinement in his game; he has definitely improved,”

“Salman Mirza has been included, and I like him because he has a quick arm action and has shown solid temperament. He’s a good choice,”

Mike Hesson shared following thoughts in his presser today:

On the Goal and Strategy of the Camp:

"It's very much a white ball camp for us, uh with a T20 focus. So a lot about, I guess working backwards from the World Cup, um, identifying key areas that we need to work on, and then putting the boys under a bit of pressure. I think we've identified, even in the short time we've had with them, uh with the last series that there are some real fundamentals that we need to work on as a group and, you know, that's why we've got a week with them here. Um, you know the first few days will be around those and then we'll start to be a bit more specific focus leading into Bangladesh."

On Babar Azam and Wicket keeping Speculation:

"Firstly, Babar is not seen as a wicket keeping option. No, I'm not sure where that came from. But I've heard that speculation around, you know Babar is competing for one of the opening positions at the moment. Obviously we have Fakhar and Saim in those two roles at the moment. So he's competing for that."

On His Role in Selection:

"Secondly, from a selection point of view, I am part of the selection panel. Yes I am. and then the selectors or the selection panel select a squad of 20 players, and then the coach and captain present 15 to the chairman."

On Shaheen Shah Afridi Role and Future:

"Shaheen Shah Afridi is a world class player. So, there's no doubt that we've identified some areas that we think Shaheen needs to work on as does every player at this camp. But there's a good reason that him and everybody else is at this camp is that they're in the wider frame for Pakistan in white ball cricket and that includes T20 cricket. So, you know, players go through good periods and periods where they're a little bit down in their game. And it's up to us as a coaching staff to try and get our best players on the park and make them better. So when they play for Pakistan they perform better. So we certainly don't discount quality players, we try and work with them to help them come back stronger."

On Playing in Different Countries and Facilities:

"I'll talk to Hassan Ali first. I mean Hassan will be involved with our team in the West Indies. We've seen it as an opportunity for us to introduce Salman Mirza into the Bangladesh series and that's in the Hassan Ali place. But not instead of him, it's just we know Hassan's playing cricket at the moment, he's playing very well and we can provide an opportunity to another promising player and then Hassan will come and join us again in the West Indies. So, look, I think the opportunity to play in countries that are very different to Pakistan is important for a player's growth. So whether it's Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, England, those countries are very different than what we face and the facilities we can offer here. So that's one advantage other countries have too, when they send them to tournaments in the subcontinent, they start to grow. So certainly something we need to encourage but make sure it fits within the international program."

On Shaheen Afridi Being Left Out and Bowling Attack:

"Shaheen is a high quality player. We obviously had Hassan Ali and Harris Ralph and Abbas Afridi performed really well against Bangladesh. Obviously one is injured with Harris Ralph. Hassan Ali we've seen as an opportunity to bring in Salman Mirza. But Shaheen will get his opportunity. We want to make sure that Shaheen's also made some improvements to his game so when he comes back into the T20 side he performs well."

On Babar Azam and Strike Rate Expectations:

"I don't think I'll ask anyone to score at a 150 strike rate. I think that's unreasonable. There's no doubt strike rate is important in T20 cricket, but you have to combine that with obviously a volume of runs. So, you know, we've got players and there's a good reason why our ranking in T20 cricket is as low as it is is because our strike rates from a batting point of view are not high enough. And we certainly made some shifts as I said in that last series to play a more expansive game of cricket and probably catch up with the rest of the world in terms of that's the way the modern game is. So Babar is one of many who has the ability to make those improvements. I'm certainly here to work with him and help him and in the last month or so he's made some really good changes and it's not a matter of going from 125 to 150. It's just a matter of increasing what you offer, because we're no doubt often 30 or 40 runs short with the bat. So, we need to find a way of getting that."

On Fielding Focus and Weather Conditions:

"From a fielding point of view, we've brought in a new fielding coach, Shane McDermott, who is highly experienced in Asian conditions, worked with a number of teams around the world. And certainly, if you saw some of yesterday's training, there's some real intensity there. So, a big part of our fielding is to increase the intensity and increase the athleticism in the field."

"Weather, look, it's actually pretty good. Like, when I left Lahore, it was 48°. About three weeks ago. So this is impressive."

On Expectations for Upcoming Series Against Bangladesh:

"Against Bangladesh first, going to Mirpur, it's going to be a challenge, it'll be humid. We're obviously practicing on surfaces where the ball's going to turn and it's going to challenge our batting in particular against slow turning wickets. So, you know, Bangladesh in their own country are far harder than they are away from home so we expect a big challenge."

Wth, where are the pacers? What is Pakistan expecting here?
Salman Mirza, 31 year old pacer will be making debut. Isn't over 30 too late to start a pace bowling career, because you are already past your prime. Over 30 is Ok for a spinner or batter but for a pacer?? Last year it was Mohd Ali a 32 yr old pacer making debut, now Salman Mirza. PCB never thinks about long term

I think the squad we played last tour was better. Am not a fan of nawaz coming back and would have rather taken shadab over him even if I have issues with shadab.

Am glad Rauf is gone though.

Pcb has better options then nawaz, idkw they went back to him.
Still can't forget how useless Mohd Nawaz was in the 2022 T20 World cup. Sufiyan deserves this opportunity.
