Former cricketer Shoaib Akhtar on Sunday advised Pakistan's cricket team to follow Virat Kohli's style of leading the side and should look to create a roadmap to get better than the Indian side.

"I have seen India's team evolve. Pakistan had a forte of playing aggressive cricket, we did not use to be timid. We used to be aggressive and be up for the fight. Let's compare our skipper to India's skipper," Akhtar said on his Youtube channel.

"Both Mishabh and Azhar should come up with ways to make Pakistan's team better. The roadmap should be to get better than Virat Kohli's side," he added.

Akhtar also said that Pakistan used to be a force to be reckoned with when Imran Khan was the captain of the side. He went on to laud Kohli for inculcating a fitness freak attitude to his players.

"Virat Kohli is a fitness freak and his team completely looks up to him. If the captain is agile and sets such standards, the side will obviously follow. I believe this thing used to be there in our side when Imran Khan was the captain. He used to run ten laps around, and the team followed him," Akhtar said.

"Imran Khan was not a tactical captain, but he knew how to gather match-winners. Now India is doing the same, see Kohli's attitude. India has strict rules to ensure players' conduct both on and off the field," he added.

Pakistan is currently playing against Sri Lanka in the second Test of the two-match series and the hosts are in a dominant position to win the series.

Top four batsmen of Pakistan-- Abid Ali, Azhar Ali, Shan Masood, and Babar Azam all went to register centuries for the side and as a result, Pakistan became only the second team whose top four batters scored centuries in a single inning.

"Pakistan needs to be fearless. In this team, you have to inculcate brotherhood, players need to look after their fitness. Pakistan is currently playing well against Sri Lanka. We need to replicate these performances," Akhtar said.

"We need to play good and fearless cricket. Our players need to be aware of the situation of the game. Pakistan needs to promote talent, especially in batting. You should not worry about the age of a player," he added.

Yes.

But, that mark is not that close. We first have to become 2nd best to think about overtaking the best team.

Lol he just puts India in all his videos to get views from the country

Man he’s made so much money off gullible Indians :))

Am sure every team wants to win every thing. Give it some time and a few home series.

There is a better chance of Shoaib taking his retirement back and becoming the number 1 ranked bowler in all formats.

Of course also not to embarrass ourselves when we tour like last month.

On topic, clearly Shoaib is trying to monetize Indian views. I want our players to stop doing that. It's getting lame

I didn't realise that he was taking money out of Indian pockets.:))):)))

Man Pakistanis get bruised easily.

lol what are you talking about.

Unless you don’t get how it works here you go:

Indians watch his channel => Indians watch ads as part of the video => Indian companies pay YouTube for those ads => YouTube pays Shoaib-Akhtar a percentage of that money paid by Indian companies

He gets paid by YouTube, and Indians contribute to it considering the amount of Indian views and subscribers.

So yes, he does take money out of Indian pockets.

nothwithstanding the usual verbiage...the broad point is ok. you need to aim to beat the best.

While target isnt bad but Shoaib needs to realize that the best talents of Pak havent not played anywhere near as many matches as Indian top players who are at their peak. To become a top team you need to put in hard yards and have enough experience within the ranks. World cricket has not seen a top team ever with all the top talents of the side having played less than 10 matches with Babar being the only one having played around 25 and is still far behind his Indian counter parts.

In 2-5 years Pak can target to be one of the top teams with Babar, Shaheen, Naseem, Hasan etc having more miles under their belt. If Pak produces 4-5 world class players out of the new generation players than they will definitely be one of the top sides but expecting extraordinary things now on consistent basis is unrealistic.

No Indians watch Youtube on internet proved by Indian companies. The money if any, Shoib Akhtar is earning is from the Indian advertisers. So while you are technically correct the money is Indian, the users are not paying for it.

"The gullible Indians" are watching him chant India-India for free and are not in the least bit upset about it.

Shoaib seems a little obsessed with Virat Kohli and Team India.

At first I used to make fun of Shoaib but now I think he’s actually clever. Read the comments :)) he’s taking them all for a ride

The only words he knows when it comes to cricket are "agression", "fearless", "attitude", etc...

He just keeps repeating the same things in every video, and doesn't forget to mention players like Imran and Kohli to get as many views as possible from both Indians and Pakistanis, without making a lot of sense.

Kohli Kohli Kohli....Why.Lets cheer for Babar and our team.Enough of this.No shame. He even compared that bottler to Imran Khan.

Imran bottled it in 1987 when he had arguably the best team in the world. Kohli bottled in 2019. So, you see... it's a good comparison. :akhtar

I know you’re being facetious but Imran’s personal performance was great that tournament. Even in lost semi it was 3-4 wickets and a 50.

Kohli didn’t do remotely as well.

Also do you think india was stronger in 2015 or 2019 WC?

Kohli bottled 2015,2017 CT and 2019.Not fair.Add onto having Eng and Aus as only strong teams today. That time cricket was more competitive tbh

Obviously the 2019 one. The best bowling attack we've ever taken to a world cup and the best top 3 in the world.

He was the top scorer in 2013 final , player of the tournament in two consecutive T20 WCS and played an underrated role in the 2011 final. It's unfair to call him a bottler after all that.

So a slow 30 in 2011 is an underrated knock? That win was all Gambhir and Dhoni. The only time Kohli did well was in the 2014 world.t20. 2013 CT was just a t20 so it's whatever.

35 off 49 when chasing 270 is not slow. Besides, he came in under tremendous pressure with India 2 down early. You have to look at the context to realise how important that knock was. Also it doesn't matter if it was a T20 or 50 overs, it was still an ICC final and he took India from 50/5 to 130 something.

IK also bottled it in 1983. So technically, IK bottled it twice as a captain and won once. Kohli has bottled it once as a captain. If you include 2017, then both are just about equal.

Pakistan was a poor side in the 83 world cup, they were lucky to reach the semis, so technically its not bottling.
