Pakistan thwart Brendan Taylor’s brilliance to seal 26-run win in first ODI against Zimbabwe

Raza can hit, I think Chisoro can hold bat, but other three are genuine Tailender. It’s Brandon or bust from here on, but guy is playing wonderfully well.
 
I think this should be the last over Faheem bowls.

We’ve got away with him in this game
 
99 needed from 70 balls with 6 wickets. Its a sad state of affairs when our matches with Zimbabwe have to be this close. This is awful.

Easy decision Iftikhar. This guy can never be relied on an I ni g of substance maximin a flashy or scratch 35,and they do not trust him to bowl even 5 overs. Shadab can score as many runs as him and will bowl a lot more and take useful wickets. Fahim is also very average, OK to contain runs but no wicket taking ability. The runs he scores are fluke.

Probably makes the most sense. If Shadab is going to be the VC may as well give him more responsibility with the bat as well.

They need one over of 15-16. 99 of 12, and they are easily maintaining 7-8/ over - take 16 out of 99, it’s 83 of 11, at 7.5. Late Bob Woolmer once said that ODI gives much more time while chasing if you can keep your cool till last over.
 
Zimbabwe should look to win this. If they can't beat Pakistan after such an inept performance, I dont know how they will be able to compete otherwise.

Woolmer was always on point remember him saying that too well.
 
I'm actually hoping that Zim win so that we can abuse this shameless Misbah some more. I hope he gets heckled where ever he goes

Same team with roughly the same players was doing well under Mickey.


I remember when last time Misbah was captain we often heard about how far we have fallen as a cricket nation. He left and we saw a step improvement in our performance. The problem is just Misbah.

Babar used his bowlers well today, and he was handicapped for lack of genuine spin options; but he was let down by Rauf with new ball - PAK has to find a solution of this new ball issue, particularly when two of those will be used.
 
If my calculation is correct this defeat could be end of our chances reaching world cup directly
 
100 for Taylor is well deserved today. Zimbabwe should win this with the way Pakistan batted. Zimbabwe quick strike rotation and looking to score. Whereas Pakistan was timid
 
Zimbabwe need 70 off 49 and you can't help but think Zimbabwe are at ease and looking confident of winning, despite just knocking to ball round for singles. Well played so far Zim.

Really amazes me why Pak think tank do not trust spin bowlers. Even a bowler like Imad who does not spin much has been difficult to get away.

Looks like two evenly matched mediocre teams playing out an exhibition game. How does Faheem find a place in the team is beyond any imagination.

Haider, Naseem aren't playing, and we have Abid and Iftikhar chachas hogging a place in the side.
 
64 of 43 shouldn't be that hard. If Zim lose its will be really bad luck.
 
Rauf has been unlucky atleast couple missed catches of his bowling, and some falling in no man's land.
 
I was ready to do some bhangra for the next couple of weeks but the reality check came much sooner than the NZ tour. :uak

This one I probably can explain - it started with Woolmer imbedding his English County theory on PAK cricket about spinners. Since then, the philosophy has been runs from darters. Otherwise, Imran often played Qadir & Tauseef; In 90s Mushi-Saq played together.... it started from Woolmer than Arshad, Kaneria ... been dropped for Malik, MoHa, Afridi ....
 
Good thing Pakistan has only selected a squad for 1st game which means we can call back our youngsters like Malik & Hafeez so that we can win this series 2-1

At the end, Wahab's three overs is the key - not a good sign for PAK.
 
Zimbos have already humilated Misbah when he was captain, could be same here as coach.

Pakistan have been pretty mediocre so far today.
