Pakistan thwart Brendan Taylor’s brilliance to seal 26-run win in first ODI against Zimbabwe

If shadab was the VC, why wasn't he playing? Where was Haider Ali? Abdullah Shafiq? Khushdil Shah?
 
Even if Misbah is replaced coach , I don't see Pakistan competing with the tops consistently. We need to open our eyes and admit we aren't good enough instead of blaming coaches and saying things like "players are mentally weak" LOL.
 
I feel we are gone back 6 years when Misbah was captaining and Incharge, selecting useless players and not able to take any risks in selection. Same thing happening today with coach Misbah. I saw this coming.
 
Riaz will bowl 3 off the last 5. That's my only hope
 
boy!! what a masterclass from Brendon. He has looked miles ahead of any batsmen
from both sides.

Pakistan should lose this but Misbah should hang his head in shame. There has been
no intent shown by Pakistan batsmen. The bowling combination missing one spinner

If Zimbabve can win this series will be very happy
 
Wahab may do the job today but he isn't going to cause top teams problems and he is 34 so he isn't a long term solution.
 
Wahab can be relied upon when the chips are down. Easily the second best bowler for Pak after Shaheen in last two years.

Pakistan were much more competitive under Mickey and Sarfaraz...

He did trouble many teams in the world Cup just gone, and is needed till others develop enough. For that likes of Husnain need to be played in place of Faheem.

Agreed. Unfortunately Babar has turned out to be another run-of-the-mill, dressing room script merchant. Hard to see him grow into leadership role. He should stick to batting only.

5-0 against New Zealand
5-0 against England

Destroyed by West Indies in the first game at the WC which cost us a semi final place lol.
How on earth is that competitive? Not even gonna talk about our horrific test form under Arthur and Sarfraz.

Azhar, Babar weren't supposed to be captains. They are forced to be one because of their senior role in the team.
 
If we were playing this series in UAE, Pakistani fans would be like:

“If we were playing in Pakistan, we would have smashed them. We don’t have home advantage like other home bullies”

Were we losing to Zimbabwe? Misbah hasn't even toured those places you just mentioned, do you really want to debate if the results will be different with Misbah? At least we were trying to adopt an aggressive style of play under Mickey, up until he was abruptly terminated..
 
Everyone is highlighting the blunders Misbah has been doing ever since he started his dual role, but Babar has been equally clueless when it comes to captaincy skills.
 
So Pakistan took this game sooooo deep and still had so many overs of Shaheen and Wahab left.


Bobby seems like another remote control captain like acha bacha Azhar with shameless Misbah at the control.



I miss PCT under Mickey and Sarfaraz atleast we played competitive exciting cricket.
 
2 singles so far. good bowling by shaheen cramping that batsmen here.

Brendan Taylor is indeed such a stylish player, he's one of the most talented players to come out from Zimbabwe. Still remember his century against India at the 2015 World Cup, it was a wonderful knock.

I'm saying Misbah is rubbish but let's not act like changing coach is going to make us compete.

Pathetic display by Pak batters..No intent to play big shots.How can u select both Abid and imam together..Pakistan lost match during first 10 overs.iftikhar is too old and doesn't add any X factor to team..Faheem ??This is crap..This series was the ideal opportunity to test young guns like Haider Ali,shafiq Abdullah,Zeeshan,khushdil etc.

Shaheen has been 148kmh consistently. This is called pure pace!
 
Looks like most Zimbabwe players play in the PSL, so looks like they are used to playing some high quality bowling. Also some might get lucrative contracts too playing out of their skin.
 
Well played, but he kept it too late - they are just one over short and wickets at hand at the end. No matter how many wickets at hand, I haven't seen teams chasing 89-91 in last 10 overs too many times.

Well the coach in most sports is the one who sets the tone for the team and the style of play. So let's agree to disagree there.
 
In Shaheen, Pakistan can re design that world class trio of Gul, Ajmal and Afridi.

Shaheen has shown some bullet yorkers. Pakistan need two gun spinners and they can start competing again as a serious unit
 
That was an extraordinary knock from Brendon Taylor and good gesture by Shaheen and other Pak players
 
It's alright guys, Misbah just wants to hold an unassailable 2-0 lead before introducing our most talented youngster, Mohammad Hafeez.

Not in cricket - it's one unique team game where, within a team individuals compete. At the end of the day it's one bowler vs the batsman - the more skilled one will win. Any other team game, the tactics, strategy is build around the combination, formation, coordination ... that's why coach is the most important figure in games like Soccer, Basketball, Hockey, Football, Handball, Netball or Volleyball, even Baseball as the scoring there is a combination of team effort. But, in cricket, you need individuals more than the sum. Even today, you see few overs back I wrote that Taylor kept it late because he didn't calculated Wahab's 3 overs.
