Not very confident about this series. I expect Pakistan to win.

O'Keefe should have a good series just looking at the number of right handed batsmen in your lineup

Australian performance in the warm up isn't very inspiring. . They need to play out of their skins to win this series. The UAE weather won't be forgiving either..

The only thing you can read out of the warm up was a few impressive performances by some young Pakistani batsman.

As a view of where Australia are at it's pretty meaningless- Smith won't retire at 58 and Doolan won't retire after 100 in an actual match. Clarke won't come in in the second over at number 3. Johnson will bowl more than six overs.

I seriously hope they go with:

Shehzad
Azhar
Shafiq
Misbah
Younis
Haris
Sarfraz
Babar
Yasir
Ehsan
Talha

All of them warmed up thats what it was meant for. Real test starts now. I won't take warm up game performances seriously though. Australia still are favorites.

I predict a 90 percent chance of Australian victory.
8% chance of Pak victory.
1.9999999% chance of a draw
and
0.0000001% chance of a tie, which could happen if Misbah is batting in the 90th over on the fifth day.
Last ball and 2 runs required to win and one wicket in hand.

In such a situation, Misbah will definitely go for a safer route and take a single to avoid the defeat.

I think that's how we will line up, point to note here is that is a pretty deep batting line up. O'Keefe is no mug, neither are Siddle or Johnson.

For us, it just depends how we handle the conditions with the bat. I am pretty confident Pakistan won't rack up huge scores against us unless YK brings it, but our play v spin will determine how competitive this is. If we play against spin like we did in India, it wont matter how few runs Pakistan score.

Hard to pick how this will go, a whole lot of results are possible. But I doubt there will be draws, simply because neither batting line up will last all that long.

I wonder if we'll see some early reverse swing by the Aussies, they've sure been talking up reverse in the pre-match build up.

WTH Boss moin is doing on pitch? Is he allowed to walk on pitch with these shoes he is a manager not player or coach!

Our bowling looks really weak. If the new guys impress against Australia, it could really help boost their careers.

Pitch
9.30 am Dean Jones says this is a tailor-made pitch for Pakistan. Absolutely flat, rock hard. Not a blade of grass. Cracks already appearing. Should spin. Should entertain reverse spin. If you are a batsman and if you got in, you should make a lot of runs. Whoever makes a big score on this deck will win

Perhaps we have a new method of ball tampering to roll out. I am more interested in when we see the early sledging and who we target. Well, who we target more than the others.

Played a big part in SA drawing, I wouldn't blame Aus if they did the same.

3 spinners, 2 pacers. I think not playing Taufeeq is the correct call but Hafeez should NOT come as an opener.

Hafeez back in test squad. What a bad news to start the say.

When are these old guns retiring? I want to see new talent coming through.

Pakistan's side looks really weak (mostly due to inexperience).

Never seen Imran Khan play before. But good to see a Misbah giving another kid a debut.

Imran Khan was the worst performer as far wkts go in the side match (for a Pak pacer) so it was obvious PCB is going to go with him.

Not sure why Talha is ignored, according to him he is best fast bowler in Pakistan.

We need Talha pace on this pitch :( usual pathetic selection

No Haris...when he is on a high.

Biggest problem with selection in Pakistan. NEver strike while the iron is hot. Half of cricket is mental and confidence. They select a player after he has been run into the ground in domestic and knows this is his only shot. Play a guy when he is in form and confident...regardless of technique or playing someone out of seniority. What a mistake to leave out Haris.

They had to play hafeez since theres no other all rounders. It's a shame haris is having to sit out again, whiltSt the dumb think tank puts even more investment into the average Shafiq and Ali.

Talha was excellent in practice game why has he been dropped

He actually wasn't that good, most of the batsmen gifted away their wickets (barring that one where he bowled a beauty of a yorker). Same can be said of Rahat in the game.
I guess Imran Khan was picked for his pace over Talha.

Misbah-ul-Haq (40 years and 147 days) is oldest Test captain in last 30 years. The last captain older than him was DS de Silva in 1983.

Mitch using some swan draught

Unfortunately there was no place for Haris right now. Who should be dropped so that he can play?

Good decision to play Khan. You can't have two potential spray guns in Rahat and Talha. Imran Khan seems like the kind of bowler with good control and will be able to keep things tight if there's not much on offer in the pitch. Sad to see no Haris though. Really don't see Azhar succeeding against this attack.
