Around 4.5 hours still to go. Hopefully rain will stay away.

Toss will be crucial because whoever wins it, will choose to bowl first because of overcast conditions. And I hope it's a close game and of course Pakistan winning it in the end!

Best of Luck Pakistan!

Was waiting for this thread :D im soooo excited! will be gutted if it rains! im in canada so planing to stay up all nyt

slight showers predicted for today jus saw on bbc news...
so thre wont be a an abandoned day hopefully..desperate to see some test cricket

I remember what happened last time it rained and we bowled first against Australia.. :(

It's okay though - it might be raining now, but there's still a few 4 hours left before the game so we can hope the rain goes away by then and we get an on-time start.

I'm hoping it starts ontime. I can't stay up till late gotta work in the morning. Hopefully the match starts ontime and I get to watch the first session.

If Pakistan bat first and are more than 3 wickets down in the first 20 overs, let it rain :D.

LOL! Far too early for a match commentary thread :))

But what the heck - this is special so I decided to make an exception just this once.

Can't wait!!! :)

Pakistan Zindabad!

Cloudy with showers or spells of rain, but becoming brighter and drier from the south during the afternoon. Light to moderate easterly winds veering southerly later.

Live near Lords, and having just walked out a few mins ago, can say that its pretty 'muggy' round here in North London. Overcast yes. Will probably rain too at some point today.

i cant wait .......im going to stream the match at work and hope no one catches me.. :D

Does it look like it'll rain soon (before the start of the first session) or much later in the day (after the game starts)?

is tensports going to show toss and pitch reports ?

They generally do and with the world cup out of the way, they won't give anything else priority over this summer.

Australia will bat first even if they win the toss in overcast conditions. Throughout Ponting's captaincy this has been his MO. its possible though, that he might be looking to end this game very very quickly, and put in Pakistan's inexperienced lineup in.

Such as at Edgbaston? :)

I hope pointing is arrogant again, and he gets aussies to bat first.

Clarke was captain in the T20 matches :)
Sheesh man! Who cares about the T20 pyjama hit-and-giggle stuff! :) As if I'd even mention that nonsense as an example in a thread about a Test at Lord's ! That would be blasphemy, surely? :P

I was referring to the VERY famous Ashes Test at Edgbaston in 2005 - the most famous Test of the past decade, and certainly one of the most dramatic.

Now the stupid T20 matches are out of the way, let the real cricket begin!

Looking foward to finally getting a test cricket fix, seems like i have been with for a long time.
Hopefully the weather will be good for the whole test series and we get to see great cricket from both sides.

Hey My Client from London just told me that its getting sunny in London. and he is hopping the match will start on time. :)

Big cheers to all. :pkflag

I am agree with you. But in this real form of Cricket We are still quite a bit behind of other front line test playing countries. But the truth is We can beat anyone if we become tactically more sound and bring more plan into our cricket. I can surely say this, Pakistan do not win any matches according to plan, We win through some extraordinary performances by our very talented players. Now If we could bring some thoughtful plan into our cricket, We can beat any team on any given day.

:pkflag ZindaBaad!!!

I just hope n wish PAK wins the toss and decides themselve whts the best thing to do. i just want this winning streak of aus against us in test matches ends. they are 12-0 currently. inshallah we wil win.

btw it would be a record winning streak of victories against any team in test matches if australia beat us again.

Not sunny at all. Doubt that the match will start on time.

You said it brother. I'm suppose to wake-up in an hour and a bit, but just can't hold back the adrenaline. I can easily sleep-through ODI's and T20's, but Tests...I become insomniac.

lol, by the way, the level of excitement before we played Australia in the First Test earlier this year was also as much as the level of excitement right now (if not more).. and we ended up really disappointed. So don't get your hopes too high. :)

I think Aussies will bat 1st if they win the toss. I doubt they will worry to much about overcast conditions because the wicket will be a flat one!

at work but all ready for this, I wish I was ill this week not last week :D

Thats whats being a Pakistan cricket fan is about from extreme highs to extreme lows. It just would not be the same.

Btw the weather is brightening up and Lords has one of the best drainage systems so wet outfield should not delay the game.

Come on the boyz.

I am trying to use the best formula of not being over exited or expect anything big but lets see how they play.

those weather reports are generally wrong :P so dont worry too much about those

by the way how much more time for the toss???

There's still more than an hour left before the start of the match and we're already on page#2 of the "commentary" thread!

Sorry guys but I'm in NW7 and Lords is NW9 - About 20 minutes drive away from where I am now...Its dark, completely overcast and drizzling....Even if the rain stops I dont think there'll be play due to the bad light...

It is expected to become better through the day but as of now, something drastic is gonna have to happen for the game to start on time...
