Sorry guys but I'm in NW7 and Lords is NW9 - About 20 minutes drive away from where I am now...Its dark, completely overcast and drizzling....Even if the rain stops I dont think there'll be play due to the bad light...

It is expected to become better through the day but as of now, something drastic is gonna have to happen for the game to start on time...

:(

I hope something drastic happens! :D

Meanwhile, in a distant land not too far away...India's bowlers are getting a good ol' spanking in their Sri Lankan warm-up. Three draws for the series 0-0?

Yesterday was an infinitely better day weatherwise so picking the playing eleven yesterday seems quiet pathetic considering how the conditions have changed today! Unless Pakistan intend to select a team regardless of pitch and weather conditions!

not much wind either so chances of the clouds being blown away are minute...Plus the clouds look thick set and I cant see any breaks in it at all!

I think they shud go in with an extra fast bowler. Play Afridi as the lone spinner because at the moment Umar Gul in unproven at test level.

I wish weather changes drastically in london.. for atleast today

9.45am Hello, good morning and welcome. Hugely exciting day in prospect - Pakistan v Australia at Lord's. It seems like a long time since we've had quality Test action and if the right Pakistan team turns up today we could have a cracker.

as per trafalgar squre...web cam.. dark clouds are bit far away on the eastern side of trafalgar square

Predictably, after the unbroken six-week heat wave, Test cricket has been welcomed back with a dank, grey and drizzly day at Lord's. It's a concern, but the proficiency of Lord's drainage is a happy cliche, so we should get a lot of cricket today.

ok latest weather update from NW7 (15-20 mins drive from Lords)....

It seems to have stopped drizzling but its still quiet dark - extremely overcast...

o llol...really...a big thanks to ten sports for even broadcasting the series.. :)

im at work atm so no ten sports, probly going to stream it ;-)

9.55am Good news - the covers are off and the pitch is being rolled. You can't do that in the rain - or at least you shouldn't. We might just start on time.

we have won a match against newzealand last year

When Australia heard you were leading Pakistan for the series Ricky Ponting said "We'll sort him out pretty quick." Does that mentally spur you on?

Shahid Afridi :Allah has given me two ears: I hear with one and throw it out with the other. Whatever happens on the ground, we will know soon.

Legend remains a legend

Yup. That pitch was a featherbed and we desperately ruined a good start by dropping numerous catches on the first day, otherwise we could've taken it.

10.00am Pakistan, as Brydon's preview will tell you, haven't beaten Australia since November 1995 at the SCG. Apparently there will be an inspection now.

inspection due to bad light

Ponting pwned by Lala!

Pakistan, as Brydon's preview will tell you, haven't beaten Australia since November 1995 at the SCG so they have a pretty big task ahead of them. Apparently there will be an inspection now. The field is quite damp and the light does not look too smart, so we're in for a delay. The next inspection will be 10.30am.

Sky Sports showing clips of Umar Akmal...and on one shot they mix him up with Kamran! :))

Waqar on tms. Speaking very wel about how we dont want to get used to played at home away from home as we want it to be in Pakistan!

One of the guys who works at my bank has gone to the game to entertain a client. Just BBMd me saying its pretty dark and overcast.

13th July is a lucky date for Pak's debutantes.. Exactly an year ago, someone scored a century in SL.... :D

What a compliment by Jack Banister to Wiqi bhai and Wasim the great. "Stuff of legends who will be remembered as long as the game is played".

can it be u.amin today ..INSHALLAH

a little brighter here in NW7 (15/20 mins drive from Lords)...

Good news is that the weather is supposed to get better throughout the day and tomorrow will be a much better day - 24 degrees with sunny intervals...

It doesnt get dark here until very late so lost time can easily be made up, weather permitting...

Same Jack Bannister that calls us cheats every time we play?

It isnt raining in london at the moment, and Lords has an excellent drainage system, we should be starting very soon.

Which means that batting second might be a big advantage.

Any word on the toss yet?

Well as its a Pak home series, had the game been played in Pak, Zardari's cronies would have announced the result of the toss 1 day earlier!

10.20am If and when it does happen, this really looks like a win-the-toss-and-bowl day, but I said that yesterday and England racked up 347 in 50 overs batting first. Also the Lord's pitch has been mercilessly flat in recent years

cricinfo

So if we win the toss do we bat first????

Its overcast and we know how lords wicket responds under overcast conditions...BUT outfield is wet and there is nothing worse then bowling with a wet ball.....

Hello kids! I'm at the ground, eating kebabs with biryani to follow, as promised! Weather so gloomy but holding up, overcast but I don't think it will rain for a while. Can see afridi up in the balcony, awesome! Just saw Ijaz Ahmed bowling Vattey to butt in the nets! Inshallah it play will start at some point and it will be fantastic!

so you mean what ever happens we are the unfortunate side.

LORD track is flat.. we know .. but in overcast conditions ..will there be enough air movement...?

bowling first will be better option :) because i have no faith in our openers to survive this 2 hours of play .. under these conditions...and then two debutants to follow.. will be immensely under pressure

Lords becomes seamer/swing bowler friendly when the clouds arrive - however what happens when the outfield is wet???

This is going to be quite an interactive kind of thread with so many guys in the ground & reporting via their phones!

your clothes get dirty if you slide or even wet if the field is watery
