Had it been Pak batting first then easily they would have lost 3 to 4 wickets by lunch

Had Gould not been umpiring Aussies would have been atleast 3 down

Lala has already shown his intentions he is not going to be intimidated in the test area.... he will continue to be aggressive......change in the making...

Bob Willis hates Aus more than Pak - so he's supporting us this summer!!!!

Rameez ffs stop defending the umpire - it was a poor decision and you are allowed to say as such

But it was taxing... whatever that means. Im pretty sure Ramiz doesnt know what it means either.

I don't get why the guy with the greatest yorker doesn't bowl it up more. On a pitch up
with so much swing he is bowling so short.
Waqar, Aqib is ko kuch bolte nahin hai kia. Its not about 1-2 matches. He bowls like that in test matches all the time.

Rameez is a constant source of embarrasment to Pak cricket.

How can someone with so little playing talent & so little cricket knowledge get so far?

Mate these conditions were made for asif and co but we bowled too straight. An ambrose/walsh or pollock/mGrath would have made the batsmen dance here.

ffs build a bridge and get over it. Would not matter who umpired any Pak game they would still get flamed. How about talk about the game of cricket for a change?

Good recovery but things still pretty even. Testing Pakistan bowling, aggression and good field placings so far.

We are playing a very long batting line up here though so will be hard to blast us all out. The guy batting at number 8 was the best batsman in domestic cricket last year.

I thought he bowled pretty well, but he might have been at the wrong end.

McGrath was superb from the Nursery end, bringing the ball down the slope. Perhaps Asif should get a go from there.

He speaks in English OXY.

No I will keep complaining about that decision until katich gets out

Disgusting umpiring from gould

It wasn't necessarily a bad decision. There were two noises and so he was right to give the benefit if he had any doubt. However what Rameez said is pure garage. "Taxing.....the ball moving around .......... what...........?!"
We're talking about discerning what the noise might have been not whether the ball was gonna hit the stumps!

Willis is the only outspoken commentator around.I remember he ripped into harper once after couple of shockers.

if Asif bowles this the whole summer he's going to get smashed no effort in his action front arm too low the guy really comes across as a lazy bum, happy he went wicketless he acts as if he has a god given right to take wickets on a green top.

If you observe Mr Raja, you'll notice he has a bit of a brown nose...!

Yes, and he was even appointed captain of Pak team because he could speak English!

Having a powerful family & going to Aitchison college goes a long way in Pakistan

ffs, will you stop your tirade against Pakistani bowlers? First it was Aamer that felt your 'wrath' - did you like his inswingers today? According to you, he would average 40+ this English summer.

He's bowled half a dozen overs and this is a five day cricket match. He is a class bowler and could have gotten a couple of wickets alreadu.

Whatever, keep on sooking then...if you want to spend your time that way.

The love/hate for Asif on here is always a bit perplexing, he is clearly your best bowler but he cops a lot for no real reason I can see.

Mate all umpires make bad calls but some times its gets too much.Taufal never gets any criticism from us or Billy bowden but trust me gould is getting annoying now.

Welcome to Pakistan...

Mixed session for Pakistan

Good to see there were no misfields as such, and decent energy on the field. We could've had more than that one wicket but that's how the game rolls.

let's hope the bowlers continue their good start after lunch!

I have no hate for asif ...He is our best bowler but he hasnt bowled upto his potential today and lets see how many decisions go pakistans way when they bat .... Gould's umpiring was very bad though

No point arguing with RA here cause he doesnt see where ppl like us are coming from. Its easy for him to say 'get over it' as at the end of the day most of the time its not his team thats on the recieving end...

How is the crowd, must be many empty seats because of the weather?

whats the point of bowling short *GUL* if u have 4 to slips behind the wicket ?

i think they didnt even take a deep squre leg or mid wicket for that short pitch stuff by GUL

if gUL needs to bowl short... field should 3 slips and gully with fine leg and deep mid wicket

Easa said:
He was? Bob Willis said something different.

I'm sure he was. It seemed that way from the TV....I'll check but either way I agree that Asif should bowl from the Nursery and Amir from the Pavilion end.

Here you go................"Well, we'll find out about Umar Gul right about...now. He's coming on in place of Mohammad Aamer who was very impressive. There's a delay as something is causing a distraction in the pavilion. Here comes Gul "

Hopefully the Umpires will have been learning the LBW law during lunch break and we may get some wickets this session!

But then you want them to forget them all when we come to bat!

The crowd is fantastic. A few empty seats but as much as you would have thought.

Probably more have turned up on the 1st day than would turn up during the entire series in Pakistan. It's a real shame.

Headingley is a greater challenge because they will be heavily reliant on Pakistanis to get people in and they don't tend to go to test matches.

I seen somewhere that ticket sales are pretty healthy, 12k+ for each of the first four days.
