Its fine stuff but, one thing they need to work on is being ruthless. If there are 6 balls in an over they can hit without taking extra risk they should hit them rather than being too calculative sometimes.

If the bowlers are giving boundary balls as some Eng pacers have today then you don’t really need aerial shots (If they are your risky shots) however on a day when a bowler is bowling accurately then you have to create shots and aerial route provides more options.

Lots of injuries - Bairstow, Livingstone, Buttler, Woakes (may play later), Wood (ditto), Topley (ditto), Archer while Roy was out of form.

This second string team still would beat or at least seriously challenge many first choice sides.

True but, the issue is that RR against spinners across the surfaces for us is not great which is against the historical way of us dealing with spinners. If we can improve on that aspect then we will be more formidable. Obviously it’s nitpicking things but, to be a top side you have to keep on improving
