i dont see a declaration coming at all. I might be wrong, but i think kumble will be happy with 1-0
 
Kaneria doing his best to make sure this is his last test match for pakistan in sometime..

but he will make a big mouth statement and play for another hundred matches

Kumble has nothing to lose. Scoring at 4-4.5 rpo on this day 5 pitch is impossible. And in an effort to do so, if India can pick up a few wickets there is no doubt Pak will go back onto the defensive.

Yes, but if Pakistan needs to go on the defensive, they can play for a draw. India does not have the bowling attack to run through the Pakistani lineup.

So, India cannot win. Which means they have no reason to declare. It's really up to the Pakistani bowlers to make the penetrations.

I have no idea what Younis wants to get out of Yasir: He should surprise the batsmen by calling in a fast bowler to replace Kaneria, the way Gang came into to bowl...

Horrible captaincy by Younis, to have persisted with Sami and Kaneria, long after they stopped being effective. He should have tried Arafat and Shoaib.
 
Big question will Kumble declare after lunch or anytime soon after lunch ??
 
Can anyone tell me why Arafat hasn't bowled a single delivery all day? Did Younis forget he's in the playing XI?
 
Here's the situation, at lunch. India is 310 ahead. 64 overs remaining. Reducing 3 overs for change of innings, 61 overs remaining.

If India can play 6 more overs, and score 3 runs per over, Pakistan needs 329 in 55 overs. That's 6 runs an over. An impossible task in a test match.

So, I am sorry to say this, but unless we can wrap this up in the next two overs, it calls for a herculean effort - and I'm afraid I can't put money on it happening.

Ahhh ... the last few overs before lunch were crucial. This partnership should not have been allowed to prosper.

This would mean Indian innings will go for another seven overs or so at least after lunch to get these 31 runs off the 4 or 5 overs of Dani...

Meaning Pakistan will be given a chance to try their luck chasing at 7 runs an over...

Since Arafat did not bowl a single ball, is he really fit to bowl and if not, so we have another unfit player...

If he is fit to bat, he should open the innings with the bat...

Had Dhoni been captain he might have declared the innings now and try to create a fight out of this match but I don't see Kumble declaring the innings at all. This match would be a dull draw if Pakistan are given less than 60 overs to chase the target.

Pakistan needing to bat out 60 overs will not be dull. I suspect we will lose atleast 6-7 wickets.

Can't blame India for being a litle nagative, they are well placed towin the series anyways. Pakistan was pretty negative, for a team desperate for a win, at the end of our first innings.
 
I don't expect Kumble to declare any time soon and he wont. But I find it strange how pakpassioners are defending Kumble for not declaring because the series is already won for India. The reason I find it strange is because Pakistan/Inzi/Bob were being heavily bashed on this very website for doing exactly that against England in Lahore (even though we won that game!).

In most countries people go out of their way to defend their teams and stand up for them. Pak 'passion' (so called) is different!

lol, going by our anti-indian stuff, i guess u just wanted Kumble to declare at 0/0 and let Pakistan win it or probably decalre at 0/0 in both innings... why care about making runs...rather than blaming Kumble, u shud blame Pakistani approach..Pakistan played way tooo slow in firstinnings..India took 142 overs to make 616 and Pakistan took 158 to make 526... man, dont throw mud at Kumble for no reason..atleast we tried to play agressively... since we are 1-0 up, why give chance to Pakistan when pakistani coach himself mentioned the day before that Pakistan will go guns out for any target..
 
and first inning pakistan playing with 3 bowlers and nobody to support yasir in taking wickets

You are being disingenuous in your argument. Inzi was criticised for declaring too late when Pakistan was leading 1-0 in the 2nd test of a 3 match series. England could well have drawn the series by winning the last game. Plus it was pretty obvious that Inzi was only delaying his declaration to make his century, not like Kumble who I guess is not happy with the target he is setting pakistan to win.
 
If India had decided to be defensive Ganguly and Pathan would have batted on and on till they reached 1000 runs.

o ya?? dude chill and stop whinning... half an hour before, Pakistan needed just 270 runs... you think Pakistan would have declared at that stage... actually i was thinking, y didnot Pakistan declared when they were around 450... lol, you guys want criticizing India and want them to declare now but why not criticize Pakistan for playing slow in 1st innings and not declaring earlier in their innings...

Laxman's broken arm should be on Kumble's conscience. He could ahve declared and saved Laxman the agony.
 
shoaib is most concerned . worried about box office success of his film if he injured an indian batsman

Shoaib should target the Indian bowlers here. May make Kumble declare a little faster.

I am not talking about the 2nd test. Though the point would equally stand in that argument too, because pakapassioners pwere defending Kumble's decision to bat on in Calcutta too!
