Pakistan v New Zealand | 1st T20I | Lahore | 14 April 2023 | Pakistan innings

Feel bad for Saim. He's missed out on back to back 50s in his last two games.

Yeah, I forgot that.

Still doesn't change the fact that he was the best for 2 years.

They both were poor in both tournaments which was an unexpected surprise, and goes against them, even if they did have a stellar WC in 2021.

He was. But it’s been a while and youngsters have shown enough promise since then to show him the door

Why is ifti in team if he will bat below shadab lol . Better play Nawaz or haris then

"Omg the middle order will be exposed if these 2 get out need to play very slow" hahaha

They used to get exposed literally everytime we lost those 2 early before the likes of Saim debuted and Shadab/Nawaz started batting up the order.

“The level-headed Pakistan captain is well known for his flamboyant batting style and along with Mohammad Rizwan forms an intimidating opening pair in T20Is.”

ICC release

As I have said, Rizwan will have to be the one who will eventually make way for Haris/Saim.

Babar is too good. He is not going anywhere.

Isn’t that higher than both Babar’s and Rizwan’s?

He's only scored 4 50's in 36 innings as opener. So if he's playing at a SR of 132 in the powerplay, he's not even going on to make a big score. So what was the point of playing at less than 8 RPO in the powerplay when you can't even prolong your innings to hit out later.

Not true. WC was the only time when the openers failed consistently and your middle order carried you to the final.

Before then, as you yourself said, Rizwan Babar were extremely consistent.

Can’t give Imad the opportunity to have a big impact on the game. Wouldn’t be surprised if his full quota of overs isn’t bowled either

It's exactly what I suspect. Babar (along with Shadab) playing politics again.

No surprise, Shadab at 5 is just wasting time and a spot.

Keep on playing useless chacha. Now that saim has performed I hope Babar’s bits n pieces 11 loses

What was the point in bringing Shadab and Ifti ahead of Imad?

If this isn't politics then I don't know what is.

Best batsman shaheen still to come (just goes to show the standard of the PSL)

Shadab at 5 and Iftikhar at 6 is an absolute joke. Needed Haris in there and another proper batsman.

I mean you wouldn't have needed Nostradamus to have come to this conclusion.

Both gone with no impact as expected.

I won't forget it either.

Lol. Keep quoting someone who deliberately makes up stuff. We were talking about ODI cricket not T20 cricket. Rana clubbed both of them and said I said economy doesn't matter for white-ball cricket. Ofcourse it matters in T20 cricket. Not much in ODI though.

Also I said, no team has ever selected any bowler in ODI simply based on his economy. The longer the format, the less important is economy.

The people who talk about giving proper chances should know that even 4-5 matches are enough to gauge a player. There's Saim on one hand and there's 50 year old uncle ifti, who despite getting 100's of chances is still useless.

I am so glad to see the 2 DESERVING openers showing the auqat to the stat padding ones.

It was interesting discussion we had and generally speaking I agree however if you're lacking a trusted death bowler in ODIs then reliable defensive bowler can be an asset, especially if they can bowl at the death.

This is politics.

And what is "I will take an action if I am not selected for Pakistan again" or "We have got rid of players who play for personal milestones instead of playing for KK, only to end up at the bottom of the table in the PSL.

We could be 160 all out here

We needed Babar and Rizwan to take 13 overs out of the game for us

Fakhar and Saim did the job. The longer Babar chew his nails for some introspection about his decisions of choosing a team and the batting order, the better.

No offence Waleed but you do come up with dumb posts sometimes.

They didn't finish bottom of the table. It was actually Karachi Kings under Babar last year that finished last because they won 1 match and lost 9 out of the 10 matches they played.

Under Imad, KK won 3 of their 10 matches so overall showed good progress from last year.

Imad best player of spin in Pakistan

Name someone better?

Sanath Jaysuriya: average 23, Sr 129

One of the greatest white ball openers in the history of the game

No offense, this is the most ridiculous post ever. What exactly are you trying to say that an average of 23 @129 is good. In that case Rizwan must be the goat.

I'll maintain what I've said in other threads. Usama Mir is the best white ball spinner in Pakistan. Azam Khsn should play purely as a batter ahead of the likes of Ifthikar. Saim Ayub should play in ODIs as well. After the PSL and Pakistan Cup he has had , it would be better to give him a ho ahead of Imam as an opener.

Rizwan isn’t an opener

He is a failed middle order bat. Who in their right mind would pick Rizwan over Jaysuriya in their team??!

Yet they both opened and one guy averaged 23 and the other 50 while striking at the same. The answer is pretty obvious.

Not one for conspiracy theories, but I’ve seen enough to tell me that Babar must be hoping for Imad to fail here

Milne as always very expensive

But I guess economy rates don’t matter :))

what did you see

He’s been kept out without reason for long while failures like asif Ali and Chacha were given chances after chances.

He had a decent WC and was dropped unfairly.

Since he’s been brought back, he’s been used sparingly, most shocking was how shadab used him against Afg (we all know of Shadab’s loyalty to Babar).

In this game playing shadab and ifti over
Imad again proved the same thing.

The pattern is hard to deny

When Babar was there, they won the title and he was the POTT.

Great progress, make Imad the captain then.😂

They finished with the same number of wins and points as Quetta, but if you want clutch at straws, it's fine.

It is unfortunate for newbies like Saim to play under the captain Babar Vs the best batsman of Pak Babar.

So I guess you would take Rizwan over Jaysuriya?

I think its a pretty silly comparison. One guy debuted in 2012 ish while the other retired then. I would say in terms of output Rizwan has done way better than Jaya. Similarly, I don't like to live in lala land where we assume we had some killer openers before he came along.

Internationally Fakhar was an average opener as his overall aggregates suggest. I don't like Rizwan as an opener and would like to see him make way. But I dislike illogical assumptions which have no backing.

One guy averages 50 the other 20. Both strike the same. Obviously the former has done better.
