definitely if you are an inferior team to NZ and playing in their backyard.

I don't see any spectators but who is making so much noise in the ground :20:

probably Hawkeye or Big Mac. They must be over excited to see both Azhar and Misbah at the crease.

If we can bat till end of day without losing a wicket I would be happy regardless of runs scored.

Poor from Misbah. Even I knew that after a few inswingers it would be an outswinger. Should have left it.

damn, Quaid gone. We need to get through the day without losing any more wickets. Otherwise we'll be far behind and in the frame to lose.

I don't know what you want. Misbah is striking at 50 and Azhar knows he is the key cog who has to stay in and ensure we get to their total.

It's never winning with this type of thinking. In ODIs there is a completely different argument, but tests is a whole new ball game.

Play faster, we won't win the match otherwise! Play slower, we lost too many wickets are at risk of losing now!

So far, we are completely fine in the approach and 10-20 more runs by Azhar with a 50 SR wouldn't make a big difference in the grand scheme of things.

no complains against Misbah today.. he did well for his little stay but the hole has been dug up by YK and Azhar.

I know it's a test match and we should treat it like one but RR @ 2.25 under these conditions is really criminal to be honest.

Good to see the likes of Shafiq and Sarfraz thrown into the deep end after a long time.

Can't afford to lose any more wickets.

This will be a crucial partnership.

+1

Hopefully Shafiq and Sarfraz show some positivity. Azhar must get to 100 to make up for that hole he got us into.

Few batsman in the world can match Azhar's concentration levels. Incredible.

That's one thing I can give to him. He has an incredible concentration span and an equally good defensive game. He just needs to work on a few things (ie strike rotation and attacking game) and he can be a very good batsman for us.

Azhar going really well.

We can still win if we can get a 80 run lead.

Azhar, Shafiq, Sarfaraz, Adil & Shah to get 280 from here?

Hmmm

we've got to ensure we don't lose anymore wickets, runs aren't that important at the moment, wickets are more valuable.

Lets not forget that he is limited. I don't think he has the ability to bat for 200 deliveries at a 50+ SR and increase the tempo as the innings progresses, like Pujara for example who is a slow starter as well but gets more fluent as the innings progresses.

Since Azhar cannot do that, I'd rather have him score hundreds at a 40 SR rather than get out early looking to play aggressive shots. The SR criticism isn't justified because he isn't capable. When the likes of Shehzad, Younis, Misbah, Asad etc bat like this, the stick they get is fair because they have the ability to play shots.

Azhar is one dimensional but operate within that dimension better than most players in the world.

If only he could rotate the strike in LOIs. He could be such a good player. He has a huge problem other than strike rotation though, that being his inability to hit shots that are errors by the bowler.

Oh well, he will be a good test player, but still needs to score slightly quicker.

That's true, the fact that he knows his limits and plays well inside them is commendable. All these points make him more suited to opening the batting.

Definitely lacks conviction and in the few ODIs he played as an opener, he did very well against pace but got bogged down as soon as the spinners started to operate.

Shouldn't be playing ODIs any time soon. We have better options.

Indeed he should be opening, but not going to happen unless he succeeds Misbah as captain and decides that it is best for him.

The problem is that he has not improved a wee bit , since debut.
