Definitely lacks conviction and in the few ODIs he played as an opener, he did very well against pace but got bogged down as soon as the spinners started to operate.

Shouldn't be playing ODIs any time soon. We have better options.

I'd say Asad or Sarfraz. I somehow can't see Azhar as captain. Sarfraz is a good choice due to his experience as a captain, while Asad has a good head, temperament and seems to know what he's doing. I think Asad will be our next captain.

That's not true. Azhar Ali up until this season had I believe the lowest SR of an test batsman ever. Now, he isn't obviously blowing the world away with his SR at the moment, but overall he is getting consistency and scoring 50s or centuries pretty much every other inning, doesn't throw his wicket away, plays within himself, doesn't get bogged down, and a key aspect people forget, he takes the shine off the new ball so the middle order can ease away and score a lot of runs.

He's not an ideal player by any means, but he is a damn useful one.

on the cuptaany for me there is simply one candidate and that's sarfraz. But first iw ould give it to younis in tests with sarfraz as VC. learn the ropes and then when YK retires he can take over. in ODI's again sarfraz and in T20 give it to him too. We should have one captain for all formats.

coming onto azhar, his innings at the OVAL will live long. He played some great shots near the fag end. and his innings in that world record chase also. He can do it. We should let him open in a t20 and see how he does. No harm.

Shafiq will be a good ODI batsman if he plays at #3. It's pointless playing him anywhere else. Even in domestics, Asad's stronger format is One Day. I hate umar akmals brainlessness , I dont hate him. I would love to watch him in a t20 game where nothing is at the stake,

Younis slowed down considerably after lunch and azhar was already too slow. After playing 220 odd balls you should at least be striking at 45 , even the modern day anchors play like this. The pitch isnt a minefield either.
