these two are batting well

this is a serious team effort to get back in the game

pathetic stuff from Umar and the way he was answering back this guy will need a strong captain to keep him straight and narrow. I liked the way yousaf gave him the eyes earlier.

Not umars fault. Moyo calling is absolutely pathetic, common knowledge.

Play has been stopped due to Rain. The covers are out. It's coming down pretty hard now.

from cricinfo.

3/83 with 12 overs remaining at best ... Rain is looking like its going to be a spoiler of another great test match!

Why do they keep showing Guptil caught and bowled wickets? It make me sick seeing that again and again.

lol only south asians can do that. if a white guy did that to you itd be more humorous than scary

Prolly a 30 minute early smart tomorrow + time at the end. I'm sure it'll all be made up.

can anyone tell me what happened about UMER Akmal. i missed it and happy to see our team in a good position from here to post a big total. surprised to see faisal scoring 67 and he again just give away his wicket. very surprised to see guptill pick up 2 wickets.
im thinking of a draw here cuz rain spoile 45 mins game and 10-15 overs game we could score another 50-60 runs. if these overs don go wasted so tomorow its sure that it would be a draw

Captain and Umar fighting? That can't be good news

Butt and Farhat should really be kicking themselves. Got out to nothing deliveries in the end. Both could have easily scored centuries.

normally not a fan of Yousuf's running but Umar is absolutely motionless at the non-striker's end, which is just bad cricket. he needs to look to be on the move and give himself a bit of a start so that if a single's there it can be converted easily. Waqar Younis and Martin Crowe caught on to it pretty quickly and I'm sure someone will have a word with him about it.

i caught it before them. and i think this is not first time he did it. he did it before too.

1) it was Moyo's call as he was running to the danger end.

2) Umar Akmal needs to start taking moving forward at the non-striker's end instead of standing still which he was caught doing by the Kiwi commentators and Waqar.

Can I ask a question?

WHY do Ten Sports always have to show Yuvi's innings against us when it rains? Some sort of addiction problems for the guys controlling the stuff coming on TV.

Barring any ridiculous batting tomorrow this match should end in a draw.

The only way wickets are gonna fall on this pitch is if batsmen gift them away.

I believe the PCB does wrist scans of every player that is selected for U19 WC and Aamer passed. Nasir Jamshed was not selected because he failed, despite being officeially under the age of 19 at the time.

Having said that, Aamer could be 19 right now (he would have passed the wrist exam at the last U19 WC). Its not highly unlikely that people use the incorrect age in Pakistan :)

Around 15 out of 30 selected players were thrown out bcoz of the wrist test this year. The question is if Ameer went thru the test two years ago when he was selected for under 19.

Weather forecast is not looking good for tommorow, with 2-3 mm of rain expected in the afternoon.

Overall its been a good day for us - the openers got out early BUT a good partnership from Yousuf/Faisal rectified that - and now the Yousuf/Umar partnership is going well, at a decent pace aswell

Its unlikely we will be able to win now - we have to continue to play for the draw now

Great looks like we might see a bit more batting from these two today. All three results still slightly possible, although a draw looking most likely!

Cricinfo.
Update: The covers are coming off.

Faraaz from the US: "I'd imagine it's like getting your heart broken, when it happens a couple of times you make sure it doesn't happen again because it hurts too much. Pakistan and NZ have lost too many heartbreakers for them to go all out and risk it again. "

Lots of people writing in from the US. Adil says: "Yousuf is in a tough spot. It's his first big test as Pakistan's test captain and he doesn't want to be remembered for losing a series to a weak NZ team. After the lead Pakistan gave up, it was always going to be hard for them to push for a win on a pitch that would have made Pakistani curators proud. "

Aleem Latif from Australia: "Looking at the All-Clear weather forecast for 15th Dec, Pakistan should try to save the match at this stage. There is nothing in the pitch for bowlers yet and nothing looks like would change tomorrow too. So, given the fragile nature of Pakistani batting line-up I would rather go for a draw at this stage. It would be difficult to bowl-out NZ in lets say 2 sessions anyways on this pitch."

if no play is possible today, i would look to bat till lunch tomorrow and put on at least 120 runs. that will give us a lead of 200 to declare on. 2 sessions, 60 overs, see what New Zealand can do.

120 means 4 an over, not unthinkable. McCullum and Vettori in their partnership scored at over 5. but for it to happen both Yousuf and Umar Akmal will need to continue batting. if a couple of wickets fall early then they'll look to shut up shop.

Update: There's no rain, the light is good, the only problem now is a wet patch around extra cover.

From cricinfo

Seems like play is over for the day..

They will probably bat till 1 1/2 session tomorrow...and let NZ bat for the rest 1 1/2 session...

looks like a draw from here, unless we have another twist!

That's all well and good, but I don't think Yousuf being defensive will put NZ to bat at 200.

Its amazing to think we could get a full day's play after all the interruptions today! Lets get through to the end of the day with only 3 wickets down, that will be a great acheivement!

Its A Comedy Out There Nobody Seems To Know Who Was On Strike, Who Bolwed The Last Over, Which Umpire Should Stand.
