And as I said couple days ago, Azhar Ali is pretty much opening when 1 of the openers is either Shan Masood or Taufeeq Umar. He was selfish and didn't want to move to opening position to slot in Haris Sohail. Probably scared of his undeserved place being taken

Can't believe Talha suffered such an epic phainty with the new ball. Would have loved seeing Junaid bowl here.

Oh bhai stop this selfish nonsense. According to people, every cricketer is selfish.

Azhar isn't opening because the management feels he's doing well at 3. That's it.

Even a 60 ball century by kuptaan would be more than useful in this match. :mv

I would be amazed if we get through the day without losing atleast 5 wickets, we might get bowled out today

Would have expected more great bowlers to come out of NZ. Hadlee is the only one. Southee can potentially become their second.

Calm down guys......Let the boys settle on the crease first. We also do have the additional pressure of the scoreboard although I think at this point the management should have told these blokes to just go and bat out there to their heart's desire.

The only player with best technique against both pace and spin Pakistan's line up is Asad Shafiq and deserves to be at No.3 not this joker of a player who is just mediocre.

Shafiq is my favorite batsman in the team ATM and yep should bat at 3 in both Tests/ODIs but he needs to take his game to the next level now. Still too inconsistent.

Azhar's weakness is swing, not bounce. He would take a few hits but would grind out good scores in Australia. He's a fighter.

Brilliant bowling this

Game over, perhaps pakistans best batsman who could bat time is gone

Please don't do this guys, please. We can only afford one or two more wickets to fall today.

Well, this shows that our bowling attack sucks.. as our bowlers didnt bowl well on this pitch.. ofcourse our fragile batting is back

Mamoon haha thats what I am taking about, Joker finally put to his rest inability to judge the ball, Hopefully now we will see Younis Khan!

According to you Azhar, Shafiq, and Sarfaraz are not good enough right ?? Who should replace them, please do tell me.

We deserve this. If we had the decency to chase a low total against a team that was down-and-out in the 2nd test we wouldn't have been staring down the barrel of defeat.

That #3 ranking is probably the shortest lived ever

Wrist-slitters out in full force. Since we are so obviously going to fail here, why are you guys wasting your time?

I think anyone can be excused a low score. The amount of times Azhar has come in early and lasted for 100+ deliveries is testament to his ability to handle the new ball better than other Pakistani batsmen.

He has faced an insane amount of deliveries in Tests in the last 4 years which is a big deal for someone batting at 3 for Pakistan who are renowned for its mediocre openers.

People are too harsh on him. Irrespective of what age he started batting, he's well worth his place in the team and scores consistently enough. Yes he has his problems, but he's one of our least worries at the moment.

Hafeez is such a great batsman to watch when in form. PCB needs to send him to play county cricket in England. A few technical adjustments and he can become a very good batsman.

Younis is better against the new ball, so is Shafiq and even Misbah. Azhar handles the new ball expertly in Asia but when the ball is moving about, he is exposed.

If Flower can fix Hafeez's technique against the outswinger, he can really be a run machine. Has more shots than anyone in the team as well as more gears.

Azhar's Wicket - Bowled Boult

Younis is an average batsman of pace. Gets caught fishing many times. If he can get through the difficult early phase he goes onto score a hundred because he's excellent against spin.

Misbah no and too early to say about Shafiq.

Younis as usual amateurish against the moving ball and looks like his golden run is over. Back to his old self.

The old self who was still a gun batsman and surefire great? I'll take it.

And he isn't usually amateurish, nor was this a fault by him as opposed to Azhar's dismissal. His bat got stuck.

Sarfraz is good... but the other 2  Fawad Alam and Haris Sohail are miles ahead

The asphyxiation with Harris and Fawad is seriously unhealthy. What would be the excuse if these two fail and with the technique Fawad has I seriously doubt he will do anything significant in Aus, SA, Eng or where ever there are good to decent pacers going around. Harris I believe should be given a chance but with all the bubble busting happening for all our domestic bullies, I expect him to be 35+ Avg batsman at most in International. Please don't get offended at this since this might be a little bitter but our domestic bats barring Shehzad maybe have not lived up to their reputation and Harris I believe would follow the same pattern.

Hope I am proved wrong.

Right. I'll just keep my hopes up and InshAllah we'll pull off a miracle here. The swing should dry up soon and then it will just be down to the batsmen not making mistakes.
