That's what the job of a FINISHER is.

Faulkner did the same in last ODI, and finished the game well.

That's no excuse for a talented batsman. It's his professional job.

He's the best young batsman in the country but he will only have himself to blame if he throws his wicket away in the chase.

But you just supported another TTF playing in ODI basing it on a T20 match. tanvir has played 50 matches at an avg of 33 at an EC rate of 5 .. Isnt that a TTf infact a worse one over shezad who has played only 27

He has done well in his last few games.

Shehzad averages in this twenties in his last two series since his comeback.
 
Decent top 6 though, although Hafeez is 4 places too high.

He played ODI in 2012... In that year he avg 45 with the ball ... you call that good? dude i know we lack talent but you have completely lowered your standards

The captain makes him bat in the role of a finisher so its his duty to do his job.

Stop treating Umar like a baby. He's not a youngster anymore as far as experience goes. Playing international cricket for almost 5 years now.

Tanvir and Wahab are never in or never have been in form. I just can't believe for one second that if Pakistan play 3 seamers in an ODI and Junaid is not included. Absolute rubbish. This is gonna be funny watching Wahab get massacred by AB and co.

He bowled very well with the new ball in the T20s in WI.

Besides, Junaid is struggling for form and its more about giving him a break than playing Tanvir. One or two games without Junaid won't ruin us.

Shehzad is backup quality at best and if we get a good opener in the future and he needs a break, no problem if Shehzad plays.

Shehzad belongs on the same bench as Tanvir. Both are not first choice material.

But the problem is, he's first choice and it shouldn't be that way.

He should be backup like Tanvir who can play when the first choice opener needs a breather, like Tanvir is now playing in place of Junaid.
 
Why people upset about Junaid resting?

He's bowled so many overs. Don't want him getting injured. Give him a 2-3 match break.

So who would you have as an opener ahead of Shehzad?

Don't say Hafeez because he is a certain 3 for us now.

Cmon mammon. you say dont look at T20 performances for ODI yet you make the same case for tanvir. Junaid before this Sa test began avg 19 with the ball in ODI. In the first test he avg 26 with the ball... was bad in the second but on that basis he shouldnt play.

Well lets see how this goes.
 
Junaid and Maqsood on bench and TTF's like afridi and hafeez in team :)

Well he averages 40 with a SR of 85, so it's harsh to say he's not doing his job.
 
i do support players who are playing. I thought i would never say this again but cmon sohail and irfan. lets get early wickets.

Format changes, but the ball does not.

Tanvir has been better with the new ball recently than Junaid, whats the problem if he plays one or two games ahead of him?
 
select the best player first, try to win the games early than rest. To say junaid is out of form is stupid, he just had one bad game where 2 great players played 2 great innings

You are basing it on a one of T20. Yet Irfan has struggled in t20 where he has been successful in ODI. The ball doesnt change. The problem is he is not being replaced for some newbie but for a player who has avg 45 in his last 6 matches.
 
Tanvir is one of the worst bowlers to ever represent Pakistan, the only reason he is here is to carry the mandatory "senior" tag in Guls absence
