Can you remind me what the rest of the team has done, 50 of 35 sets us up nicely,he saved his wicket at the start while everyone else was falling he’s accelerating now, dunno what else you want.

He scores 31(30) against SA C bowlers while Haider and Hussain were striking at 180-200, then got another SA C bowler for three sixes to take himself to just 50(35).

Now imagine this with Babar already there as anchor. Rizwan has struggles with his strike rate, and we need to either have him evenly distribute these knocks or replace him.

Evenly distributing the knock is important - if he had gotten out at 31(30), and that happens sometimes, Rizwan would have singlehandedly lost the game. Now he’s recovered that and given himself the stats of a T20I anchor like Babar, which still isn’t enough.

I love Rizwan, trust me. He’s in both my Test and ODI teams. But I need to see these extra gears earlier in the innings and against better bowlers. Right now Rizwan’s just hitting looseners by timing them right - you won’t always get those.

Won’t say he is technically accomplished considering the gaping hole between his bat and pad, but he has the typical grit of a WK batsman.

He is like Moin Khan but with more ability.

He's one of Pakistan's most technically accomplished batsmen. I guess he gets the hate because he doesn't slog blindly.

He’s a fighter, may not be our best batsmen technically but in terms of application and actually assessing the match situation he is probably one of the more clued on batsmen in the team. The players around him keep failing, you can’t blame him for the way he approaches the innings. In an ideal world we could do with a more powerfuL hitter but this is not an ideal world and the rest of the batsmen we have just are not good enough.

I completely get that, if we had players like India for example then I would say rizwan is eating up deliveries and not letting others have a go, the problem is the rest of our batsmen are not good enough, if they come in and get out after making a quick 10 then what’s the point,.

Precisely, that’s too long. And after getting set, there’s no guarantee he’ll come off. But before getting set, you’re 100% guaranteed that he’ll play a 25(25) innings.

With Pakistan, the issue is they have no idea how to play the new guys who they haven't seen before or played before. Exactly why even when they play associate teams, they struggle for a mighty long period before pulling through. These guys played Boult, Steyn, Anderson quite decently but then got out to guys like Duffy, Olivier, de Grandhomme, Hasaranga.

Pakistan would probably play better against a full strength SA side than they would do against this SA B side.
