FUTURE...malik is the wrong side of 40. he is a relic of the past with a long list of issues and part of the reason this team is in bad shape ( he shouldve gone years earlier ) . why not bring back nasir jamshed and the akmals whilst we're at it ?
stop looking to the past and accept we have to work with the younger players and hope to improve them
this mentality of rating players once they are kicked out of teams is toxic and had led to a merry-go-round of players in pak cricket for too long ruining any potential development of younger players .
You have to be blind to forget what Malik has achieved in his T20 career. Do you think 10,000 runs is a joke?
Name me one youngster who plays spin better than Malik.
You talk about improving youngsters, well, sorry to burst your bubble but all the youngsters on the team at the moment are either leg-side hacks or have severe limitations either due to a lack of talent, consistency, or temperament.
All the fans talking about backing youngsters don't really understand that the world cup is happening in INDIA. If you think this middle order can bat well in India, you need to seriously wake up.
If there were any options better than Malik, I'd take them. However, all the youngsters on the team who are on the right side of 20 will still be outperformedby Malik regardless of his age.
It would be a waste to leave someone like Malik on the bench when the team is struggling.
You claim to talk about the future. How will this team, which is losing to SAF B team stand a chance in the WC. Your "forward" thinking got exposed by our youngsters' failures to contribute anything noteworthy against a pathetic bowling attack.
There are about 18 T20Is before the WC. The PSL is round the corner. Do you seriously think we can afford to waste time with players who have been given ample chances to show some worth?
In the absence of Malik and Hafeez, if there is any lesson to be taken, it is that none of the overhyped youngsters was able to put away the low quality SAF bowling lineup.
One would be foolish not to use Malik and Hafeez when they are clearly the best candidates for the middle order.
