Azhar Ali wins the toss and Pakistan will be batting first again. Sohail Khan in for Amir.

incredible that they didn't rotate players. Azhar just like Misbah likes to stick to same playing XI even in a dead rubber game. Pathetic. Could have so easily bench Sarfraz and give Umar Akmal a chance to prove.

This is not a dead rubber, Pakistan NEEDS to win 3-0 for sake of rankings.

Good to see we've won the toss again but would like to see us tested chasing a 250+ score in UAE.

Should have played Yasir, but may be they don't want to unveil him before Test.

Umar is probably paying for his "Aabbu Jaan's" rant. This guy Arthur won't break under any media pressure.

he should wait for his chance

Good lineup for Windies. Looks like it will be a tough match for Pak. :sharjeel

thats is good for pak cricket evryone will learn lesson from the junior,s stupidity,..

today we will witness Azhar Ali scoring 70 odd and securing his place in the team for next series.

Apparently Sharjeel has been working hard on his off side game in the nets earlier in the day

I think Azhar is someone like Wahab Riaz. Feeds off confidence. Was given encouragement by Mickey and he's played exquisite shots up until now and seems to be looking for quick singles and doubles too. Hope I don't jinx it!!

Worst case scenario say Pak have to qualify, are you that worried we won't beat the likes of Nepal and Hong Kong :)) With the rankings, long way to go mate cutt off date is in around 12 months time

Only one change by the way for Pakistan - Sohail Khan in for Mohammad Amir.

Azhar laying the SmackDown on the West Indian bowlers, running the fielders ragged.

Yea but man our games against WI are must win since they are the ones we are competing against in the rankings.

A loss to Aus (ranked No.1) or NZ (ranked No.2) wont cost us too much in the rankings - however, a loss to WI could his us hard.

I'd rather not like to find out if we can beat Hong Kong and Nepal :yk

With Pakistan's historic ability to lose matches they should win and win matches they should lose, Im not overly keen to see how they perform in a competition with 10 teams from which 2 will qualify. :P

Azhar shot during the 3.1 over; was mouthwatering.

You can never be sure which Pakistan could turn up :))

What's with all the weird songs the DJ is playing after each boundary :)) entertaining himself I guess, no one home

Pakistan really ought to be scoring 350+ today.

Fast start from Pakistan.

Been some good shots too - no miscues or slices.

Crowd is amazing

Lol

Imagine what its gonna be likw for the test matches

with shezad we used to make 8 runs in first 4 overs

Say we do lose here and win games against high ranked teams or do well in the CT next year we''ll be fine, I think in the grand scheme of things there is so much cricket to play that anything can happen winning 3-0 will be irrelevant for example if we lose our final series to BD before the cutt of for example, so much can happen in between am not really going to stress about it just yet, just relax and enjoy WI's jobbers bowing to our batting shovels

Despite being a founding member of the PakPassion Spirit Squad - the part in bold is what worries me :irfan

Bet yes you are right - there is is tons of cricket still to be played and anything can happen, specially when teams as unpredictable as Pakistan, West Indies and Bangladesh are involved

iA I have faith that we will just about manage to qualify closer to the cutt off date, many thought we wouldn't for the CT but we managed to some how. I think we've made some decent changes and there seems to be a sense of direction so we just need to keep the momentum going and be consistent

This pitch looks like a belter. Ball coming nicely onto the bat.

Glad Rizwan is playing

Failing here, he should be dropped for a while

Highest opening stand since 15 matches ago.

Yea man InshAllah we should be able to do it. To be honest, I'd be very shocked if god-forbid we are unable to raise to Number 8 in the next year with tons of cricket still to be played.

However, what if India throw the series against WI next July 5-0 and push them above Pak... :afaq :)) #LetTheConspircaiesBegin #SurgicalStrike

Looking at Azhar's SR, its safe to say pitch is extremely good for batting.

Pakistan should aim to break their total score today.

another boundary on off side . #sharjeeldonthaveofsidegaem

46 is the highest opening wicket stand for Pakistan in the last 15 ODI's!!! That is absolutely insane!! :O :O :O

Make that a 50 run partnership

That would explain why Dhoni doesn't like Ashwin, he must be amongst the few who's not willing to lay down for the WI's to pin him :yk

Seems to be a mindset change from ur guys, maybe the aspect mickey is really focussing on.Because there was always talent in that squad, felt more a case of players paying for their spots and hence couldn't play with the freedom that other sides played with.

Did Ramiz just say Sharjeel hasn't been in great form? I sometimes wonder whether he's paying any attention while sitting in the comm box. An embarrassment to his profession.

You people are way too harsh on Azhar.Seems a decent bloke.Just needs to give that captaincy bit to Sarfraz.

66/0 after 10 overs - great start MashAllah!

No.8 is within reach today InshAllah :inzi

I think it's great that Azhar is playing ODIs. Him scoring at a quick pace in ODIs will actually make him a better Test player I'm sure. There are times when Azhar completely bogs himself down (ala Pujara) and doesn't score at all. There comes a time in the Tests when after you have soaked all the pressure, you need to attack the bowlers and get some runs which Azhar doesn't really do. Very similar to Pujara which Kohli was alluding to. He continues in his own one-dimensional mode. This stint in the ODIs will allow him to expand his shot range and make him into a better Test player.

Seems like Sharjee and Azhar has been given a score to achieve. :D

I bet you someone will burn about that and imply that they'll be glad if we lost against tougher teams so they can put waqar over and bury mickey because the way we are playing is entirely because "WI's are weak" .....

Biggest difference between Azhar and Shehzad (both players of similar ilk) I've found is that the intent to score runs at a quick pace is present in Azhar's case. Uses his feet at every opportunity to look for singles/doubles, with an odd boundary here and there. Doesn't always work for him, but he tries to keep the scoreboard ticking. Unlike Shehzad, who was intent on playing dot after dot, while hoicking the 6th ball of the over for a boundary.

Shehzad is a selfish player. He just wants to score for himself and for that he doesn't want to take any risk in his batting.

He won't resign. PCB asked him to step down and he refused. His ego will hurt us in the long run.

that was just media ********. If PCB wanted to give captaincy to someone else they would have stripped it off. They have done it before with malik, afridi, yousuf. don't believe everything watch on tv
