Imam and abid competing for the test spot. They know they need to be on the tuk tuk levels of misbah himself to impress him.
 
Smh someone notify me when one of these guys get's out, out here playing like they facing Starc and Cummins on a green mamba.
 
No Haider, no Abdullah, no Khushdil, no Zafar = no reason to watch this snoozefest.

Actually though, haven't been keeping up to track with cricket at all online uni semester is kicking my butt, is he on the squad, in the future plans, any news on him?

Interesting. Mine sounds okay until I turn the volume up and then the artificial crowd noise starts to become very irritating. Some posters on reddit have also been complaining about the audio.
 
Zimabawe have some experienced campaigners in the line up they are underestimated here.

Abid Ali will be providing slip practice in New Zealand just like how he did in England.

Yeah the crowd noise is also annoying but it's also as if there's an echo from the commentators, just doesn't sound right.
 
So Misbah fooled us again with team selection. Changing selectors will not help us in future if Misbah is the coach.

What a team Misbah has lined up today. Let's have a looks shall we by focusing on two major categories, age (I'll discuss fitness along with it) and ability.

These are officiall ages, mind you.

Abid Ali will be 36 in 2023. In the recently concluded National T20, he couldn't make Central Punjab's XI by the end. Was horrible in the games he did play. CP finished last just for context. In England too, his technique and ability was there for all to see. Poor against any sort of movement, bounce and by the looks of it worse than Shehzad at finding gaps.

Wahab Riaz will be 38. I mean that says it all.

Haris Sohail and Imad will be 34. Both are panting by the and of quick single. Imad was a disgrace on the National T20, cost the team a good ten runs with running. Both have had knee problems and other injuries especially Haris. And both consistently fail or are made to pass borderline on fitness tests.

Faheem Ashraf has failed to do anything of note ever in international cricket or even PSL (last few seasons). He will be 29, that front is fine.

Iftikhar will be 33, officially. I don't know how he keeps getting selected in every squad we put out.

The squad had Fakhar (33 in 2023. He had one fluke innings to begin with and gas gotten even worse since then). Usman Qadir (who averages 40 in domestics, with the ball) was given the mid over Zafar.

I don't know what Zafar has to do to get a spot. He is the best spinner in the team, best fielder behind Shadab and Rizwan and no mug with the bat either.

Abdullah and Haider are the the token, oh look youngsters, selections. If you aren't going to play them, have some shame and let them atleast play the QeA trophy.

It's a shame the camera work doesn't change with the channel though, lol this is garbage camera work. I'd honestly rather watch us play in UAE if this is the standard of broadcasting we're going to get in Pakistan this is shameful tbh.

Well he wasn't included in the central contract list by the PCB. He refused to sign the full season domestic contract offered to him. He wasnt selected for the Zimbabwe series because apparently Misbah wanted to give the younger players a chance (where are the youngsters, I have no idea lol). Yesterday he announced his Youtube channel so who knows if he is even serious about working on his cricket anymore. Time will tell.

Abid Ali was possibly the worst batsmen in national T20 after Saad nasim.

If Zimbabwe gets Babar they can win this match. Haris and Iftikhar cannot score big

Dont know whats wrong with you guys. Its ODI not a t20. People talking like 400 is scored every day. 300 is still average.
Though I agree Fakhar or Haider should have played

Damn Misbah is going to take Pakistan cricket down into the drain once again before he walks away again, what is Abid Ali doing opening a white ball game in 2020 lmao, and since when are Ifti chahca, Wahab, and Imad youngsters? I really hope they pick Amir back up for LOI's man because he is still up there with Shaheen as our best LOI bowler.
 
This is even better than what we all thought these misbah selections were capable of, they keep surprising you, (albeit in negative ways). Long may it continue.
 
Just imagine Haider opening with fakhar/rizwan. Atleast there would ve been something to watch

Really difficult to understand the point of playing Abid Ali. If Pak management was going full strength then Fakhar who had 2 50s in last 3 match ODI series should have played. If they were experimenting (Which they clearly arent as other players are full strength) then Haider, Abdullah or Khushdil (Could have opened with Rizwan or Babar incase of Khushdil) should have played.

Not a fan of fakhar but he's still miles better then Abid Ali. Misbah truly is a disaster.

Well atleast he is going to be removed as the selector after NZ series. That's a start. The team selected in the first ODI has been absolutely horrible. Painful to watch as a fan.
 
As usual Misbah uses young players as shield. This guy has something against young players.
 
Pakistan batsmen need to come out of their comfort zones and should try to score every delivery. Very poor attitude.
 
Man when do we play a real tour next? The quality of this is just unbearable for me I'm not going to waste my time any further with this garbage performance with 50 dots already against Zimbabwe, and don't even get me started on the broadcasting, this is broadcasting at it's worst. Oh great now there's an echo in the commentary lmao, no way this is an international match.

He should have nothing to do with Pakistan Cricket his approach to cricket in 2020 is just appalling.
 
70 should be the total number of dot balls in 50 overs cricket and pakistan have played 50 in their first 14.
 
Someone tell imam since he has already decided its a test match he should stop swinging his bat in the air and look for just singles.

There is no way he can justify this decision like quite a few others. Fakhar despite his shortcomings had a good ODI record and did well in last ODI series as well as was the highest scorer of national T20 cup. So if they were going full strength he should have played. Replacing 30 years old opener to test 33 year old opener (Who doesnt even have an impressive List A SR) is just bonkers unless I am missing some bigger masterplan.

Nothing will change. Misbah will still be in team selection for the match. If players follow his instruction they will lose matches.
 
This thread seems more fun then the actual match so far, thanks Misbah the clown in chief.
 
If I was coach, there's no way Imam would play the next game. A strike rate of 68 against Zimbabwe, that too at home, is disgraceful to say the least
