Bit early but looks like Bangladesh will outperform Pakistan in tests in NZ this leg. The track must be a belter for Shakib al Hasan to score a 200 as not long ago we were appreciating Babar Azam for a fighting 90 odd and Grandhomme was swinging it miles. Wonder why NZ would not continue with the same strategy.

Ps. Hats off to Shakib though. Best all rounder in the world.

The pitch looked green at first but it flattened out. I think they were wary of our newbie pace attack. But once they look at their mediocrity they will revert back to their old strategy

Bangladesh's batsmen have applied themselves a million times better.

The pitch trolled everyone. Commies, analysts, pundits, team mgtm etc all thought the pitch was going to be green and a bowlers paradise. Heck BD even went in with three pacers in a test match, when do you see that?

Regardless of pitch NZ shouldnt be conceding THAT much in tests

Have you seen our bowlers? They're as bad as, if not worse, than Yadav, Ishant and Aaron,

Still long way to judge. Till bd played much better than Pak considering difference of experience(bd tour little than Pak),rank and others. We can judge after five days as it is TEEEST.

Wasn't long ago Boult, Southee, and Wagner were beating nearly everyone! They do seem to have fallen off since McCullum retired.

Is KW struggling as a skipper? Or is it the absence of Bond as the bowling coach?

Even if the pitch was flat, I dont see Pak batsman scoring at the same rate in first innings of a match. They would not have lost wickets but would have crawled to 400

KW is struggling badly with both captiancy and his batting. Our bowlers have regressed significantly since Bond left. Boult and Southee were world class when he was there, there drop in form came once he left as bowling coach. Now it's all way too much short stuff, that's the go to plan, the lengths and bowling game plans are not very well thought out.

McCullum and Bond look like gods right now. McCullum made a team of nobodies into world beaters and Bond turned two trundlers into world class bowlers that were respected by every team.

Our bowling game plan is

1) Prepare a greentop
2) Hope we win the toss
3) Use the conditions to knock the top order and put pressure on the middle order
4) No more movement? Give the ball to Wagner to bounce them out.

If none of that happens you either hope for the batsmen to give their wickets away (Pakistan) or you get scores of 500 for 3 or 4 (Bangladesh and Australia).

It's honestly really sad to watch...

What part of worse than Yadev, Ishant and Aaron don't you get? :))

Firstly, nobody can be worse than Indian trundlers. Nobody.

Secondly, your team is based around a seam bowling attack who've grown up in those conditions, versus the most hapless test team of this century.

How can you not win?

Because we're really bad.

We were fortunate to catch the Pakistan's unprepared, if they were, they would have easily swept the series 2-0 with their superior batting and bowling.

Well played in the end. But this includes alot of dropped chances.

Hope their team can win from here on.

More than Sakib, I was more impressed with Momin. He played exactly the type of innings I like to see from No. 3 - played out new ball on merit when he had to came early; but once set, dominated the bowlers. I believe, his last 50 runs came almost at run a ball with quality stroke play. Sad that, he got a good ball early on 2nd morning before settling down; but these are innings that set the one of the game. At same point, had he played 23 of 85; I am sure Kiwis would have been well into their batting innings by now. No. 3 is the most dynamic position in a Test batting line-up & this was one of the most impactful innings, far better than the volume of runs.

Flat track or not, it still takes great doing to score 550+ overseas, and at a good clip no less.

Was just excellent batting by Bangladesh. I was surprised by the number of boundaries their batsmen hit.

Yeah next to 217 and 158, Mominul's 64 looks miniscule, but its qaulity was actually far superior to both.

They are not good bowlers but how exactly are 2 bowlers who consistenly bowl 140k+ and one who can crank it up to 140k, 'trundlers'?
