What's new

Pakistan vs New Zealand | 3rd ODI | Dubai | Nov 11, 2018 | Pakistan Innings

This is probably the best batting surface in UAE this year starting from Asia cup - PAK should cross 300 here.

Hafeez is underrated against pace. He struggles terribly against movement, but he has dispatched genuine pace on quite a few occasions.

He has been underated a lot as a player everywhere. He has actually scored most runs for Pakistan in ODIs since 2010

Pakistan should rope in Irfan as a net bowler. Ideal practice for short-pitched bowling.

Looks like they are very short on practice against short-pitched bowling. The domestic pitches do not have bounce and the bowlers in the team are short.

I am still not sure what Flower is doing with these batsmen.

I guess you still haven't moved on. :23:

Mickey did not look impressed at Hafeez's innings today. Small wonder given Hafeez batted at a 55 S/R.

Lets hope Babar and Fakhar can carry on till 35 overs somehow

This is a 320 wicket, which means we should get around 270-300.

I do not have faith in our spinners defending totals in D/N games, but scoreboard pressure has its weight and Williamson is a big loss as well.

He hardly misses out on such surfaces. Munro cannot afford to miss out today, and I am worried about Faheem’s economy today.

Paced out wicket - they pushed him back enough on to the wicket on this surface!!!!

Big innings needed from either Fakhar, Babar or Haris for that kind of score

Relax, Kiwis are poor against spinners & missing 2 of their big 3 batsman - 275 should be enough in a decider.

This 1st wicket actually has worked in favor.

Can Choker handle the pressure of batting in a decider?

Its not that extreme pressure of chasing in a cruicial game, but still would do him a world of good if he can do something today

Latham would be a key wicket. Very underrated player in these conditions. Doesn’t get his due because of the big guns in his team, but he is as good as any of them against spin.

Guptill averages 26 odd in sub continent, yes he would have played but not their top batsman in Asia. Latham is more cruicial wicket on these pitches

Kiwis are putting 6, probably 7 (can't see where is mid-on) men in ring for new man.

I love the art of batting. It is what made me fall in love with the game, but batsmen wearing elbow guards is a big turn off for me.

Very aesthetically unpleasing - Aravinda is the only batsman who looked good wearing one.

Babar has started wearing it only after that fracture in Eng

Fakhar playing effortlessly second game in row. He seem to have sorted his game for UAE.

Yes. It is a necessary precaution, but doesn’t look good. Batsmen who don’t wear one carry a certain aura of confidence.

Goes to show. Not every bowling lineup can restrict Pakistani batsmen on such wickets. Bhuvi and bumrah nailed their lengths and choked the hell out of this lineup

So basically your worried that NZ might lose this game.:shhh

NZ should be able to compete decentley at the WC. Guptill and Munro are an explosive duo. Williamson,Latham ,and Taylor are able to adjust their game to the situation. De Grandhomme adds power at the end. Santner should be back for the WC, him and Sohdi will cause problems. Boult And Henry with the new ball will be a threat. Fergurson and Milne offer a different opition.

All round a decent team.

True. Southee is also there. They will be one of the favourites for the last 4

I don't understand why Colin de Grandhomme is being give some much respect. Be aggressive against him.!

Fakhar playing effortlessly second game in row. He seem to have sorted his game for UAE.

With Fakhar he is a kind of player who just needs to remain on wicket somehow and runs will automatically come with the range of strokes available to him. In Asia cup he was trying to force the issue and that is why he was struggling.

His helmet is another unique piece that suits him

Pakistan going well here but this is pretty boring to be honest!

Babar needs to rotate the strike at least. Can't afford too many dots here. Need to keep the pressure on NZ.

Babar and Fakhar should understand that if they can stay on the wicket, they are too good for runs not coming to them automatically.

People keep asking about Grant Flower's contributions but it depends on the materials you give him.

A hard working guy with a good foundation like Fakhar is easier to coach than someone who's stuck in their ways (Malik/Hafeez) or someone who is limited and just doesn't possess the range of shots needed to be a dynamic ODI batsman (Azhar/Imam/Shehzad), or someone who thinks they're a superstar already (U Akmal).

He did well with Sharjeel before the ban too.

93/1 after 20 - that suggests PAK should reach 285+ today. Might get a bit more considering Asif is picked today.

So what about Babar Azam who has arguably regressed since debut?
