Rain stopped play now. 44 for 0 from 6.2 overs.

Good stuff from Pakistan so far.
 
Word is that 2 hours have been set aside as extra time to have this match finished....
by the looks of the ct weather the rain should blow it away and hopefully we should have play in a lil while
 
salman butt and imran nazir shud take note on how to pace a T20 innings, NZ started very slowly, but the batsmen didny panic, if that was Butt he'd be swishing away w/o connecting
 
Not that bad i guess .. NZ just ahead though seeing as they have lost no wicket...

Now the 2 Pak spinners are the big big key for us now...

so are they going to delay the next match by an hour in 2 hours do get used here?

Nz won the toss n also it was first semi final

Pakistan have the edge probably by 60-40 at the moment, New Zealand have not been able to get away thanks to some good fielding and tight bowling.

agree but we need gul at the end to bowl in those inswinging yourkers.Afridi and fawad and then bring back Tanveer from one end and hafeez a the other.

In a 20-20 game you are more than likely not going to bowl a side out, even if you get early wickets. Keeping the run rate down to a managable rate is more important when the opposition is setting. We have done that.
 
we have 4 spiners and ground will be wet. thats not what we want right now
 
shoiab needs to play this match v strategically looking at the pitch and conditions
needs to rotate the bowling

I agree. Don't let the batsmen get too comfortable. Quick bowling changes keeps them on their toes.

7th over ... no wickets yet. Yes, it's good that NZ does not have a big score yet, but this "no wicket" thing is getting me worried.

If chasing ~150 is going to be tough, then the Pakistani bowlers have to do a superclean job of restricting the kiwis.

If it wasn't PAK playing them, my vote (of sympathy) would be with the kiwis ... they are soooooo underrated. They consistently operformn "well enough" ... get to the semis, but then bow out without major fanfares. They must have the lowest ratio of semifinal appearance versus gold in their trophy bank.

2 hours dude...its a SF so they have set aside 2 hrs which should be sufficient time to complete the match
 
This break will give both sides to revaluate the situation may seem some change in strategy.
I expecy NZ to start taking more risks.
 
Wow, awesome, 2 hours on the side! Pretty much no time will be lost for the whole thing then! Cool!

....yeh.....but if you don't lose wicket (I am not talking all 10).......then the rate is going to go up from 7 to 8/9/10.....!! So, I would say advantage NZ 65-45......unless Afridi/Umar/Fawad/Malik can do come damage!
 
Spin is going to be a problem for pakistan because the ground is v slippery and its going to be very difficult to grip the ball which could mean Shoab needs to switch to plan B

The good news is that New Zealand also have spinners. Vetorri has been one of the best bowlers in this tournament so far so the conditions will go against him too.........and Patel.
 
With the threat of rain, I'm a little suprised that Pak didnt select Yasir Arafat instead of SB, rather than Fawad.

We had the spinning bases covered with Hafeez, Afridi and Malik. I would have preferred another pace bowler in todays side.
 
They said it could be a impact , for pak meaning negative could be trouble for pak specially fr spinners , slippery surface with dew .. so bad start .. :(

yes.....Afridi has to stay at the wicket for minimum 5-6 overs!!! I hope he does open against Bond and come in at 8-10 over!!
 
rain and wet ground will effect our bowling but at the same note it will be hard to score boundries unless batsmen go over the top, if thats the case hence here is the chances for wickets and catches will be very important factor.
 
Why are these commies talking about English cricket in a semifinal with Pakistan and NZL?

Shoiab Malik mentioned that we wanted to bat first and get 170 and put NZ
and at the toss he suddenly had a change of heart and suggested he would have bowled..

This is the time that BOTH captain swill be seriously tested - tactics could determione who wins/loses this game.

Lets see what our Kapitaan is made of!
 
Wet outfield - oh dear could be problems for the Pak spinners in gripping the ball :(
