This is turning out to be like Healy-Gilespie partnersip against India, they both frustrated Indian's till Tea session during Aus tour to India ...

The worrying thing is that I can see PAk being skittled out for less than 200...

Gul and Asif cant even go through a tail. Very Sad. Makes Akhtar's inclusion even more demanding.

If we had Akhtar we would have two bowlers standing - ala India 2004.

FInally Gul gets Harris...shukkar

Gul gets HArris.

FInally.

Quite a couragous inngs from him

347-8

dont get too excited they still have two players left they may make mr than harris

120.4 Umar Gul to Harris, OUT, full outside off, goes on the drive, does not get over that, in the air and taken, Harris fails to get his first Test 100, but helps in a great 88 run partnership

Cricinfo :))) :)))

to win pakistan will have to make 600 i dont see us getting that plus our pace bolwers have been bowled to the ground

Yes that I was wondering, I guess they are fasting as well :)

malik has regressed to the inzi philosophy of bowling kaneria until his fingertips starts bleeding ?

u know mr . malik we do have another spinner (who i might mention out-bowled kaneria head to head)

Disappopinted with that - the fielder didnt even make an effort to catch that!

i see malik is still not bringing in the field to stop the single on the last couple of balls. i wonder if he will make the same mistake as he did in the first test

Had some disciplinary issues in the 'A' team I believe...

Is that true? Can't be any worse than what Shoaib did and it looks like he is coming back...seriously, I would love to see what Lawson can do with Sami.

Lawson and Dyer have put a white towel in the dressing room with 'NO EXCUSES' written on it and anyone who slacks/gives up has his name put on it. That fielder should go on there pronto.

Was it Malik? Then he has an excuse as he was probably thinking of something else. But never again.

Do you blame all of lifes 'ills' on Inzi?

skipper himself...

Gul and Asif have bowled their heart out - with very little luck.

SA clearly playing for a draw here. Wasted enough time already

SA have had no intention whatsoever to win this match.

They have been playing for a draw since the first ball.

What's with the length deliveries, Gul's got a great yorker, he should just keep firing it in to tailenders

we played for draw as well last time they toured.

350 , Hum Pitch has eased but unfortunately we are talking about pak batters
Butt not in form
inzi not in form
Yusuf (has not played in 4 months)
and Can our bolwers bowl more overs they look tired

bowled em, Finally Kaneria gets a wicket today

a bit too late now .. damage is done.

if we could barely manage 300 on a dead track like karachi .. i dare to wonder what will happen on this lively track.

Akmal and Butt

Karachi was not dead and Lahore is not live. Which planet are you watching the cricket on?

only on the 5th day

which is understandable.

But to go into a match with the intention of drawing is pretty sad and pathetic. If we batted for 1220+ overs at less than 3 per over there would be about 30 different threads on PakPassion about negativity, defensive tactics, Malik is scared etc etc

Mckaya "6 or out" Ntini is in....don't expect this to last too long. I got my 350 ...I'm happy....time to get bowling !!!

:))) this guy has to be on a wind up

So who are the Pak openers today !!!!

Akmal and Butt probably. Harris and Boucher managed and 80 run partnership. We will be lucky if our openers manage half of that! But here's hoping Inzy has a movie like finish to his career.

Poor DK bowling his 43rd over with a bleeding finger.

poor rehman .. not given the ball much despite being our best bowler in karachi !!!

Akmal plays like a ODI or a 20/20 even in a Test match. He really should not open. I would rather fancy Yunus and Butt.

seriously man ... i've worked with many people with substance abuse issues.. if u need help ...just let me know :19: :19:

357....hmmmmm.......could be enough if South Africa gets early wickets...else the game is wide open .

357

30-50 runs too many really

Need a lead of at least 100. Days 2 and 3 will be best for batting here. The pitch is nice, flat and easy to bat on. Now for once our batsman need to apply themselves but most importantly, not bat like the south africans did at half a run every millenium.

yeah need to be positive and look to get at least 450. Preferably 500. In 2003 we managed a win with a lead of 81. Need a good start though/

Pakistan openers need to survive 15 overs to make the seam go away is that too much too ask . I think yes

But when was the last time he got 4-5 wickets without giving 100 runs???????

A very Long Long time ago.

Poor Asif bowled so many overs only got 1 wicket.!!!

unlike Kashif97 who gets all his cricket knowledge from following matches on cricinfo, those who had watched the match yesterday will agree that Asif bowled very well. Fate was against him!

Asif needs to speed up, line and length is not enough in Pak if you are bwling against good batters on flat wickets

Yes but this time Akmal did not drop any of his ctaches or miss any of his stumpings (at least when I was watching!).

How the heck did the tail manage 98 runs! These are one of the worst tail-enders that I have ever seen, and yet they manage to score so much against us. Now the pressure is on the batsmen again to get a good substantial lead, which will be hard to achieve if we play anything like we did on that last day in the 1st Test

Pakistan should just try and play positive cricket. Too much defending and we will end up digging a hole for ourselves

He was very unlucky today, 9 maidens, well he got almost the wicket of Bouchter today just didn't cary to him. I hope it doesn't bump down his confidence :|

Pak out to bat.

Butt & Akmal.

Both players OWE Pak big time - what greater opportunity?
