Pakistan vs Sri Lanka | 1st Test | Abu Dhabi | Sep 28 - Oct 2, 2017 | Day 5

People bash Hafeez here to every extent possible but the fact is that Hafeez has been our best player overall in UAE since we moved there.

yes but he is 36 and his time is up

its always like this in UAE

This Abu Dhabi is the worst out of the 3 test venues they hv in UAE. If it was a two test match, it Wd hv been better to play them in Dubai and Sharjah but I think they chose Abu Dhabi over Dubai just to save some bucks as Dubai is slightly relatively costlier than the other two Emirates. My guess

is abu dhabi cheaper than sharjah? never knew

always though Abu dhabi was the 2nd biggest in uae

I still don't understand why Sarfaraz didn't come up the order and bat at 1 or 2 down.

He attacking approach is what was needed vs. the spinners.

Well the team consists of 11 players including 6 specialist batsmen.

Even if these to fail I trust Hasan Ali to get over us over the line

If required Hasan Ali should be next man in, but hopefully he wont need to bat!

Truth to be told I was thinking exactly on the same lines since morning. Hafeez once set at least used to make sure that runs keep coming at a good pace.

This!!!

He has a cowardly approach to batting. Should be nowhere near the side until he learns to attack.

Come on guys. Sami is a newbie trying to make his way in the international are and at least has domestic performances as merit. What does shan Massod have? When will Asad Shafiq come good?

To be honest, I don't care about age anymore. Fitness is the barometer not age. If a player has the fitness and form to back himself up, age doesn't matter. Misbah/younis/Sangakkara were batting as well in their late late 30s as any 24 year old.

Giving opinion is blocked here. Lol. So u think only facts can be shared on a forum. Google, if u don't know what a forum is. Lol

kid you can give opinion as much as you like
just don't quote my posts while giving your generous opinions
hope you get it.....coz i dont speak stupid

Grass is always greener on the other side. I don't believe in persisting with the seniors just because he is not as bad as some other guys. I believe in bringing in new players giving them fair chance and the evaluate the performance. If it's not good enough bring in an other young player.

Well, we have tours of England and South Africa coming up so I think Hafeez's Test career is thankfully over.

Game on a knife edge at tea! 67/5

These two need to score at least another 60 runs between them... cant afford a lose of any sloppy wickets after tea!

Yeah. He's going to be useless there. But he's a beast in the subcontinent. I always wanted Afridi in the Test team whenever we were playing in the subcontinent. We should adopt a horses for courses policy.

Lol...the top order looked like tailenders and u except bowlers to survive there

I actually expect them to do better because they will try to score rather than potter around till one gets them.

I'd rather have Hasan Ali than give Sami or Babar one more go.

Pakistan are more than halfway now. If these two can get another 30-50 I will be relaxed.

You can't relax with Pakistan EVER. Only relax when these two have gotten Pakistan to 135.

Great stuff. Quick singles make a difference. Rameez Raja commentating though and he still has no idea what he talks about.

Hasan ali has been sent in. This could be dramatic now

What was he doing? Amir needs to play a good innings now as he hasn't done much this match and this coming from a fan of him.

Can't believe Sarfaraz threw away his wicket like that.

Pathetic. Needs to learn to take more responsibility.

Haris sohail has a chance to become an overnight hero now.

Hasan has a world class average in Test cricket, no worries

Can't blame too much. That's the way he plays. But yes he should've batted up the order...

Well, he needs to change the way he plays. There's tons of overs left and there was absolutely no need to take a risk, especially one of jumping down the pitch to Herath of all people.

Haris sohail already looking like the best test batsman in Pakistan. Puts all the seniors and veterans to shame.

From yesterday's match thread:

You can't score quickly on UAE pitches, there is a reason why we have played in this manner for the last seven years.

You can score quickly on these pitches if you show intent. Sarfraz has a SR of 72 in the UAE all because he shows intent. Niroshan Dickwella on this same pitch scored at a SR of 71.

And yet Sarfraz's top score in the UAE was 112 from 195 balls (SR 57.43). Yes, Sarfraz has a good strike rate but look closer and you'll see that a large proportion of his scores are in that 15-40 range. If you're happy to settle for twenties and thirties as long as there is "intent" then I don't know what to tell you.

I-told-you-so-GIF.gif

Now that he is captain, Sarfraz is suddenly going to find himself on the receiving end of a lot more abuse because he is now the senior player.

Sarfraz was the last hope. This match is in SL's control. Unless miracle happen the match is gone!!!!
