I hope we continue the positive approach and play with intent. We need to score runs faster if we want to give ourselves a chance to win.
 
300 should be the minimum for today. However I have a feeling we will go at a snail's pace in the morning session again just to try to preserve wickets. I would say we'd make about 62/2 in the first session.
 
I am watching all 90 overs today (data willing).

Days like today graduate batsman to next level.

Decent track with no demons. Just pressure.
 
Good batting pitch. Must be positive and take advantage of the conditions
 
Batsmen must score at a good rate today if we're to force a result. Aim for 3.5 RPO, get to 550+ and try to bowl SRL out cheaply in the 3rd innings which will be very tough with only 3 bowlers.
 
Can't afford Shan Masood to be blocking ball after ball. Needs to look to rotate the strike at a very minimum.
 
Sami doesn't look to be blocking every ball like he was a year ago. Now has looking for singles. Good to see a young player improve after being dropped.
 
Let them settle down - no point giving wicket away in first 2 overs!
 
Nice to see Sami at least thinking about his strike rate. If he plays with intent he can be a great opener
 
Shan is getting stuck at the crease. This is what happens when you play too many dots.
 
No surprise that Shan is gone. Trying to drive a ball that wasn't there to be driven. No way he should be opening versus England in May.
 
Don't think Shans gonna be making the trip to England next summer. Failed in the West Indies and now at home.
 
No way he should have gone back to play that one. Such a poor shot from Sami.
 
Micky's judgement is dubious .
Why does he rate Shaan ??

Are u happy now Mr Arthur? Sri Lanka has had a free wicket in Shani Masood.

Hopefully he has seen the light now.
 
These 2 need to step up. The most experienced batters in the side. We desperately need them to perform today.
 
Sami needs backing as he’s shown that he’s very talented.

Shan needs dropping for good :( and Azhar needs to open
 
We need to get rid of both Sami and Shan. Both are such a rubbish!!!!
 
Hope that's the end of Shan Masood (again).

Hope we don't even think of taking him to England where Anderson will torment him again.

Azhar should return to opening. It suits his batting style to open as well. Can't believe a pro coach like MA moved Azhar to number 3. :facepalm: :facepalm:

Shan Masood is just a poor player, simply not good enough. Should stick to first class only.
 
But I am saying again. It is the bowlers who have let us down in both matches so far. How can you let this SL lineup put on 400+ twice here.
 
Two batsmen on the crease are supposedly better than Virat Kohli in tests, so we can expect a good partnership between them
 
Remaining positive is still the only way Pakistan can win this match. I hope they don't go into a shell to preserve wickets.
 
Sri Lanka have a good batting line up which will improve the more test cricket they play. They will always find spinners with variety. Also Chandimal seems like a good captain, captaincy doesn't seem to have affected his batting.If they can find a couple of good pacers to replace Lakmal and Pradeep, they will have a good test team which can compete in most conditions.
 
I like Chandimal's captaincy here. Misbah mastered this in-out field strategy in the UAE and it worked wonders especially when Pakistan racked up 400+ scores in the 1st innings. Chandimal is following the same Misbah route. He knows Pakistan wants to press on but he's not allowing free boundaries by having men on the boundaries despite being 400 runs ahead. Ian Chappell would ridicule this captaincy but this is perfect.

Nope. They've just been favored by the dull UAE conditions. Winning the toss has also helped them because in UAE you can just bat first and pile up massive runs in the first innings.
 
Being positive versus Lakmal and Pradeep is a way of putting pressure on SL.
 
If Inzi hasn’t understood by now hopefully he saw that list where Shan topped with average of 23.
 
They are making the exact same mistake here that they made in Abu Dhabi! You can NOT let spinners settle into a rhythm on these surfaces!! You can NOT let them bowl maidens . . they will get you out sooner rather than later . . whenever Paksitan has played Herath well, they have attacked him . . granted,w e dont have the ability of younis and Misbah . . but thats the only way they will dominate these spinners . . if they just let them bowl, they will all fall like dominos soon!

Chandimal looks a good captain so far.
