What's new

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka | 2nd Test | Dubai | Oct 6-10, 2017 | Day 4

we needed a a big score from azhar ali to have a chance
highly unlikely to win from here now tbh

This is what happens when you just block block and block... Azhar will never be in the league of the Kohlis, Roots or Smiths of this world because those are actual batsmen who score runs rather than just survive.

Pakistan have deserved to lose this series.

Micky and Sarfi have worked very hard and in tandem to lose a series in UAE by selecting trundlers.

I am out fellas.

Micky and Sarfraz need to be held accountable for this

Is this what they tell them to block all the balls.

Two lefties and and an offie comes on... excellent captaincy. Chandimal is smart

CricketAnalyst you see the result of that pathetic approach, it was a disaster waiting to happen.

This team is a joke.

Azhar was average this series, their plan of having him bat at #3 and go with two openers in Aslam and Masood has completely blown up in the management's faces. That's what happens when you select a terrible squad and make baffling lineup decisions (ie. not using 2 spinners).

Bookie odds for Pak victory went from 40% to 25% with Azhar's departure. I would say the odds should have fallen even more. As long as Azhar was there, there was hope.

Even Harry's defenses go further than Masood's drives

Meanwhile Mickey should've had Shafiq ready if the right-hander got out.

Instead he decided to send Harris at 4 before the innings even started. No margin for adaptation.

Shafiq wouldn't have done jack.

Funny how people were calling out inzi for selecting haris
now he's the only batsman other than azhar safe for the next test series

Pak team is definition of insanity, they repeat the same mistakes again and again and again but expect that by some miracle the result will be different.

I'm so disappointed... Woke up once when we had Lanka out for 97, but now we're 38/2 after 26 overs...

Hope things can start to get a move on from here. No point in leaving loose balls.

horrible innings by Azhar today, one of the worst knocks he's played in 2+ years

seems to have gone back to Azhar circa 2014

If and it is a big IF... Pakistan go onto win this match would it rank as one of the top ten comebacks in test cricket? Its not common that you concede 200+ lead after first innings and still win

Abdullah719

It's only happened six times in Test cricket (a team coming back from first-innings deficit of 200+ to win the match).

You know when it happened last time? Sydney 2010 :kakmal :kakmal :kakmal

good shot but a high risk shot as well and we can't afford anymore gifts, and some one Plz shut up Ramiz this Jinx will spell his magic again.

Dubai is such a soul-less city.... do they even have a city team that most the city gets behind? Or any local cuisine? Or any local sub-culture? Baqwas concrete jungle

Ramiz Raja trying to get Harris Sohail out from the commentary box :)

Haris has a 52.09 average in FC so him excelling shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.

This is why having a strong domestic track record is important. If you can't manage to excel in domestic levels, you most certainly will not in International level.

If Sarfraz doesn't walk in to bat next, this will be absolute gutless captaincy and a slap in the face of all those fans who targeted Misbah his entire career for being a mentally weak captain. Say whatever you want about the man but the fact is, time and again, he walked out and held together one end as all batsmen fell around him. And he didn't even block the way our batsmen are doing these days. Pathetic stuff.

What mistake - there 5 Azhar clones in the team, whose batting mantra is occupying wicket. Each one will struggle if there is a target or pressure - check Azhar's 4th innings stats or ODI stats while chasing. He basically has made the target 350 & then got out to Pradeep of all people with a 25 overs old Kookaburra.

I actually really like Dubai. To be honest, while this is disappointing stuff, I don't blame the fans. 1) It is boiling out there. 2) They have an overload of cricket and therefore, it's become very ordinary for them. I'm surprised even a few fans turn up. 3) Everyone's there to work. Nobody lives in Dubai because they "love" the place. So therefore, a very fast paced life and little time for entertainment and going out.

haris showing shan the level required to be a test cricketer
Shan can come back to play for kuwait team maybe even here he wont avg more that 30

You have a habit of bringing in useless Misbah in the discussion when there wasn't any need

Almost happened last year too in the 1st Test against WI when our batsman almost gifted WI the match by collapsing in the 3rd innings but Yasir saved the day lol

I like the fact that he's held up one end because at this stage, that is very important but a strike rate of 20 after facing almost a 100 deliveries is utterly disappointing. I actually thought Masood worked hard on his game but it seems as though he's gotten worse.

Yes I do. And I will keep to it looking at how fans like yourself left no opportunity to target Misbah but turn a blind eye to any mistake that Sarfraz mistakes and even worse, pin it onto the coach.

did he come up the order in situation like this,,,...????and this was his golden boy shafiq,,,,what else he left for the team..nothing....

Almost happened again in the 2nd Test at Wellington for NZ vs India in 2014.

Can never forget McCullum’s triple hundred that day!

NZ could have won had Kohli been correctly given out caught behind.

You became judge jury executioner.... what if Saifi walks out after next wicket and you have egg on your face.

I'm sure if Sarfaraz does walk out and loses his wicket you lot will then complain he came before established batsmen like Asad and Babar and got them under pressure by getting out.

Fact is Misbah's batting position was number five and he rarely ever budged from it despite many people's insistence for him to come higher. Stop living in lala land. We all were there when Misbah was playing.

What a pathetic display of batting. Our batsmen makes any bowler looks like a million bucks.

Situation is such that can't even pray for Shan Dismissal but don't know what purpose he is serving by being in, such a gutless batting.

Shafiq has massively deteriorated over the last year. Before the WI series, his average was in 40's. And he's given us a world class batsmen in Azhar. How is it the captains fault when selectors like Inzi persist with mediocrity like Shan Masood?

Misbah made the best possible use of below average players. Babar Azam, Sami Aslam looked world class under him and even the likes of Shan Masood got big hundreds. That is what happens when you have an ATG captain. He turned average players into world beaters and as soon as he left, the reality of everyone has come forth.

Playing for their place, shan is no different than farhat. Does anyone know what is pakistan game plan? what are they waiting for? Goodness me things will get worse from here on(interms of pitch)
