What's new

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka | 2nd Test | Dubai | Oct 6-10, 2017 | Day 4

Nothing will happen, we will forget this and same players will come back in next series after sometime with new excuses

Well our next test is inay next year , shafiq and babar should go play some domestic and find some form.

Both our former U-19 players (Sami and Babar) turn out to be rubbish in test matches

By the way, Dilruwan Perera with a Man of the Match performance this game. 6 wickets already and a useful 50 in the first dig.

Its not like Pakistan doesn't have spinners who can bat a bit available for selection. In India, we have a saying called Aa Baeil, Mujhe Maar. I think you guys get the jist...

I'm seriously disappointed. I'm going to be in Dubai tomorrow but looks like I won't be able to go and watch the game since it looks like there isn't going to be a fifth day. Come on, Pakistan.. Come on. Heartbreaking stuff yaar.

So where are those fans who said the selection was amazing.

This team has all the PP darlings, golden boys, should be in the team in place of 'Misbah Younis', all these domestic 'youngster beauties' what happened to those fans now

You know things are bad when even Jibby Ansari isn't slitting wrists :)))
Bro last chance here. Need hundreds from both Karachi boyz. Both are good against spin and seniors and due for a big score.

A relief to see Shan gone. Worst innings I have seen by a so-called batsman.

Game lost - check
Spot in jeopardy - check

Rinse and repeat.

that and Shan will keep his spot because he ' he gusted it out' even though he set the tempo for this abomination

at least previous the epitome of nepotism Imran Farhat edged a few boundaries before getting out

I really hope this doesn't cause Bobby bhai to lose form in LO cricket.

PCB really messed up by including him in the test squad over and over again.

His confidence must be shot right now.

Srilanka are a battlehardened team , just got whitewashed by the neighbors. We were in our fantasyland hoping that we have replacements ready for misbah and younis. Srilanka deserved to win this one.

Take that PP'ers. See how big a failure your beloved: Sami Aslam, Babar Azam, Shafiq and Sarfraz have been?

Almost all teams in the world will fail from 61/5 even against this Lungan teams. Except may be England. So it is going to be a tough ask.

Just noticed Asad Shafiq's average is below 39. To think Pakistan has invested in this mental midget for the past 7-8 years. Sad.

Sarfaraz's head is down... where is the fighting spirit man? Quit and go home if you don't want to guts it out..

if you play shots and get out you will be called irresponsible. So it is a catch 22 situation. Ideally you should rotate strike and punish loose balls.

Oh come on. 20 runs in 100 balls? Poor batting. I remember Yousuf Youhana doing the same thing against India a few years back, and Kaif sledged him that he hasn't hit even a single boundary in 80 balls, and yousuf promptly went for a slog and edged it right to kaif at Short-leg!

Pakistan's biggest mistake is that they just blocked and blocked and eventually a ball with their name on it was delivered. That is a recipe for disaster.

Thanks to Mickey for yet another blunder.

Dude its a game and such things happen in sports so chill.

You are making it like none of the players from other countries ever failed or none of the teams ever lost a series.

Sarfaraz as captain and some others are still new to the task, once they find their feet we are going to see some good performances.

Sarfraz and Shafiq have been saving their best performances for now.

Come on boys.

Pakistan needed to be a lot more positive.

Made it too easy for SL.

Where are all the Misbah, Younis haters?
Pakistan has lacked an international test batsman for the last decade but for those two.
Once in a blue moon performances mask the dire straits Pakistan cricket is in.

Watch Sarfraz score a few soft runs here, sweeping blindly all over the place, now that defeat is inevitable. The guy never scores meaningful runs in test cricket. His test average flatters to deceive, big-time.

Yeah Pakistan never collapsed when Misbah and Younis were playing. We scored 500+ every innings with those two around.

:salute :salute

If Pakistan survive today, would you still go to the game tomorrow to see them likely lose?

Sarfraz, Azhar, Shafiq don't have the excuse of being new.

How was Shan Masood? Enjoyed tuk-tuks?

I enjoyed the reaction to the tuk-tuk :))

How long did Fortress UAE stay up once Misbah and YK left?

Why can't we just score the rest of the runs thinking it is an ODI. Blocking will eventually get us dismissed for 130 odd. Why not take the attack to the Lankans, maybe it comes off and field becomes spread and batting becomes a tad easier.

"When you're living your life in endurance mode, you don't expect anything good to happen. I'm not saying that you don't dream about some miracle that would change everything for the better. But you pretty much know it's only a fantasy, and that you have no real control over anything."

Pakistan batting mentality in this inning.

Thanks to Mickey for yet another blunder.

A couple of ballsy shots played with intent, and maybe the catcher that dismissed Babar Azam may not even be there. That's the chess match aspect of test cricket, that these guys are just lacking.

Or, whisper it softly, maybe they were just playing scared, trying to protect their fledging careers.

I think the likes of Shan Masood, Azhar Ali etc will look back at their innings here with a ton of regret.

YK and Misbah brought stability to the batting order. Without them, the batting looks really light.

A lot of the blame goes on Azhar and Shafiq, they should be the ones carrying the batting but you can't rely on them to score for you consistently.

not surprised with this at all but dissapointed with shafiq and azhar. They had to step up massivley and have failed us. Cant really blame anyone else.

but u were chest thumping like anything and referring ct final match everytime an indian has posted something.

now u r learning that team cannot win everything and upsets do happen .

Nope. I'm only going for a week and it's basically just wasting an entire day. I would have gone it were like 3 down for 150 runs but it's pointless to go in such scorching heat when nothing is even going to become of this.

Didn't we lose a test against zimbabwe? correct me if I am wrong

Exactly. He isn't a bad player but a hypocrite with all this talk of being aggressive and realizing ones mistakes but equating to nothing.

Yes they are experienced enough but:
1) Azhar was opening the series for the past two three series and now he is batting one down in this series. Nothing exceptional from him but he did ok.

2) Asad Shafiq first time in his test career is batting at no 4

3) Sarfaraz first time he is captaining the team.

All the three most experienced batsman were doing something they are not used to in their entire career and for Azhar atleast in the past few series. It could have turned out to be good but it didnt. Players take time to settle in at different positions.

Its arguable if these many changes in postions were requires or not.

And also 8th ranked Windies in fortress UAE....

but we MisYou :yk2 :yk2

We have lost following tests in UAE: to WI, SL (3 tests in total to SL after this one), NZ, SA.

And yet people say India is scared of touring because they will lose. The delusion is unbelievable. :)):))):))):)))

I would have but they dropped the legend for trash like Abbas.

They have caged the beast until the tour of England, when he will be released from his shackles and tear England to shreds thanks to the bloodlust that has built up during his absence from the team :rahat

I genuinely thought that anything below 325 was gettable for Pak. Not easy, but definitely possible.

Man, this team is not showing any self-belief or even some good old fashioned grit and fighting spirit. Very poor show here. Sure, the conditions, selections, toss, injuries, etc didn't help, but none of that can explain away this horror show.

Take nothing away from Sri Lanka, they have worked hard and have some up and coming players with ability, but a 2-0 scoreline doesn't reflect the skill gap between these 2 sides. It is a good reflection of commitment, confidence, and fighting spirit though. Never thought I'd be able to say such harsh things honestly, about a Pak cricket team. Especially confidence. That's so un-Pakistani to see such lack of self belief. Even the delusional fans have more self belief, baselessly so, than this bunch out there.

Pathetic performance, from all the teams, we lose to SL... LOL.

Top post. I've lost all hope for this team. But then again, I'm saying this for the hundreth time. I felt like breaking my television after losing to India in the CT and then we had that turnaround. So I guess you can never really say never with Pakistan.

This is about a test match between pak and SL so lets stick it to this. Let not make evrything about INd vs Pak

This is the advantage of going in with 5 bowlers. Workload will be shared. Kohli started adopting this strategy as soon as he took over . Typically mentality of Dhoni was to pack the side with batsmen.
