What's new

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka | 2nd Test | Dubai | Oct 6-10, 2017 | Day 4

So half the run scored with half of the the wickets still remaining not bad, considering our tailenders are better batsmen than our top order.

These two have been scoring at a run rate of 4. Where was this attitude when the ship wasn't half under water?

Top order was tiring out the bowlers, like the rope-a-dope. Let the Sri Lankans think they are on top and then unleash the beast :rahat1

Asad needs to win this match , and not repeat the sydney test. He needs to take his game to next level

MMHS how much you rate Asad? why he can't pull such inning too often and win something real?

He would have been as good as anyone in PAK, had he spent 3 seasons in Counties in his early 20s. His cover drivers are actually almost as classy as Zaheer, and that's a complement probably Viv Richards won't get. But, mentally short - his world is limited to score a 75 for Karachi Whites, instead of targeting 256 in 10 hours. I do agree with MoYo here, but batting skills are only may be 25% of the game - 75% is in your head & guts.

One draw back of playing SO slowly early on is that only 19 overs are left to the new ball and you can bet your bottom dollar Lanka will take at first opportunity. These two atleast have to bat till second new ball otherwise game over.

You cannot blame him for Sydney... The ball he got from Starc most batsmen would have struggled to negotiate

Saifi's captaincy is improving at a rapid rate considering the lack of whining by Misbah lovers on this thread of late :))

I still feel he didn’t need to play that .. shd have left the ball and let that hit his body but then he’s going through the motions n middling everything that day.

MMHS so in short Asad is just all style without substance, but if he is mentally so weak how he pulls such "from nowhere innings" ?

One of my biggest surprise in Arthur that he is from AUS/SAF - whose entire batting strategy is batting domination from 1, 2 & 3 - that was from Vic Trumper to Steve Smith. The 3 this guy puts for PAK is at top is unexplainable - we must not have heard the full story here.

No personal comments or stuff about player families - clear?

141 more needed... I have this gut wrenching feeling that we will get real close but fall short.

Because, this is a nowhere situation - no one will blame him if PAK loses this by 50 runs. Put him in a situation where the stakes are even - people would expect the set batsman to win, you'll see the fun. His ODI stats are reflective of what he is good at when the stakes are even.

if "x" was batting this and that. Enjoy the game and watch who currently is batting

keep playing your shots.. no fielders around the bat.. that tells SL lil worried

Another 70 runs by these two and SL will be feeling the heat.

In ODIs he's totally incompetent because he can't score fast. He is literally really LITERALLY the worst ODI player in the last ten years.

But his shortcomings there have nothing to do with his Test game. When he doesn't have to score fast, he can be lethal, and he does have an exceptionally solid technical game and he won't have any problems with anything other than having to score at a particular rate.

I know some people sweat a lot more then others but Sarfraz really looks wrecked, his fitness is still lacking

Pakistan are the kings of raising your hopes only to dash them.

See Brisbane.

I heard in a parallel universe these two scored a 200runs partnership. What will they do in this universe?

I guess a 199 runs partnership in this universe would be good enough too.

Lets not forget the guy keeps for hours and hours too.

It's excusable if he's tired. He's still running hard, he's still fighting as hard as he can and batting well.

Even if he is a little fat, it's fine. You won't find a better batsman or keeper to replace him and he is a good leader.
