What's new

Pakistan vs Sri Lanka | 3rd ODI | Abu Dhabi | Oct 18, 2017 | Pakistan Innings

If Mickey is hell bent on keeping Azhar at 3 in tests then i think Imam and Sami should open.

So unlucky, this guy MoHa is born with lots of talent but little luck ...... had Imam not been Inzi's relative, nepotism won't have deprived him for another crack at opening ........ poor fella.

Common sense suggests he should at least wear contact lenses.

Contacts don't offer the same clarity of vision, from what I've heard.

And anyway, you can get sports spectacles that don't slip/fall off easily. Eye sight is hardly a problem in sport anymore.

Yep, especially considering Inzi is his uncle. He will favour his nephew over shehzad, whether intentionally or not

I wouldn’t mind that. The amount of chances shazad has been given in limited overs cricket is more than enough and he should never have any complaints.

Let’s first give the same number of games to Imam first and see how he fares.

Shazad however needs to tried in test cricket may be one last time .. that’s his prerogative.

Some people's eyes are sensitive to eye-contact-lenses. I'd rather the player is comfortable and focusing on the game, as opposed to his eye. Think back to any eye pain, it's very distracting!

Glasses arent ideal since there is a distance between your eyes and glasses hence the image produced isnt accurate which can have an effect on his ball judge, and the bigger correction you need the bigger the effect.

My favorite part about Babar is when there is an opening partnership and then he comes in and just goes run-a-ball. Looks so good at the crease similar to Kohli at times after Rohit-Dhawan partnership.

Imam needs to prove that he is capable of scoring fast, lets see if he can score his century with a 90-100 strike rate

Imam and Sami were U19 openers and Bobby was the one down. This is a reunion of sorts for these lads.

Muhammad Nawaz was also in the same u19 side.

Babar i think also opened with Sami in few matches.
Nevertheless,it will be great if these 3 plays together.I am still ignorent why Sami is not firing. He is a great talent

Lol all the top scorers on debut for Pakistan in ODIs except Imam turned out to be such disasters and failed to stabilize their place in the national squad.

We just haven’t handled him well so far. We need to set him free. He seems to be carrying a lot of unwanted burden on his shoulders when he comes to bat. All those who have followed him since his under19 days would know that he’s exactly the opposite of that Sami Aslam who used to scores runs for fun.

What's the greatest losing streak in ODIs for a Test nation? SL should be up there.

I thought, it would be 7 wicket win 45 overs, but Imam actually has out performed my expectation.

This is Pakistan. Even at this stage we can collapse to win by just one wicket or two.

Won't - minimum skill set is required from bowling side. Also, this is not 90s - lot many eyes around.............

Want to see Faheem promoted if a wicket falls and we need 30-40 runs. Good opportunity to test his skills.

Yes I forgot the CT final, but it was a tactical change in terms of the match situation.

If you don't promote Fahim or Shadab in such matches at this point, when are you going to give "exposure" to yiungsta buti? This guy is going to make a quickfire 25* to boast his average & SR which will be used till 2023. Recently, I heard that since return he averages 39 ......

Hafeez is usually crap in crunch situations of game, a bottler of epic proportions but in positions of strength with plenty of wickets in the shed and no pressure to deal with, he's an absolute beast, goes to show you how mentally fragile he's.

Few of you heading for bans if you continue to post NON cricket rubbish - Clear?

Exactly.Infact Sami was the most prolific batsman of these 3

how is imam guy???

Good, but there are many such him. This kid was new, and batting well - in next few months teams will have lots of batting footage of his, then his baptism starts. In soccer, we call it 2nd season syndrome for Managers.

May be, he is a bit lucky that now Arthur is there - before him in last 25 years I have seen many - from Salim Elahi to Umar Akmal ... in between Md. Wasim, Nazir, F Iqbal, Taufique Umar, Yasir Hameed, Amin, Shehzad ......

Unfortunately, after International teams started to expose their game - they ran towards Basit Alis and Kohlis went to Achrakers ...... Imam is indeed lucky in that regard, might have a long career. Talent was never an issue for many, many such

I just hope we develop that ruthless flair to chase these tiny scores inside 40 overs like India does.

Nazir and Umar Akmal probably the biggest casualties :(

Never seen such insipid body language of opposition in a long time, seems like they're just there for the sake of formalities.

I didn't watch the match. How Imam batted? Is he going to last long with good technique and temperament or a supposed to be few matches wonder youngsta beuties like Umar or Shehzad?

The later is more likely to happen in my opinion.

You can't even imagine how well Faisal Iqbal played an Aussie attack of Warne, Mac, Gillespe in his 2nd or 3rd Test. Unfortunately for him, he had a famous uncle who tried to get him in through back door; instead of using his contacts to send the kid to Glamargoan or Sussex for just 2/3 seasons - after Inzi, MoYo retired FI could have played for 125 Tests for PAK.

He’s looked world apart then the 2 u hv mentioned.

I hope Prof doesn't rob Imam of opportunity to score ton

My word he used to look so pleasing to the eye. Was indeed 70 80 test batsman at least but maindad being his uncle didn’t help his cause irrespective whether maindad Wd hv tried to get him in the team through back door channels.

No India would have chased inside 15 right?

That wasn't sarcasm but rather a realistic guess based on the beastly batting line-up they've plus the innocuous SL bowling on display, a combination of which could've made it incredibly easy for them to chase down the paltry total in a rush.

India's batting isn't as beastly as it is made out to be. They have Kohli who is beastly. The rest are just supporting actors. Get the main gladiator and the rest act like fish out of water.

India has the lowest runrate amongst all test playing nations in the first 10 overs of ODI since the 2015 WC. Such beastly wow.

Depends where the matches are played. UAE we know is not like India or anywhere else . The pitches are sluggish here and the out field and ground size are something the less talked about the better batting Sharjah.

One of the best back foot driver from PAK in last few years, and he could play Warne stepping inside out so well that next Test Warne put 5 men in covers. But guy didn't develop an inch from 2002, when his uncle got him even as ODI opener, not caring that a young middle order might get confused in his new role.

I hope Kaptaan comes out and gets some match practice. That or send Fahim to hit it out quickly.

but we all know Malik will come
