The highest number is from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh

Well this is pretty complicated. Why do they come to India if they hate India so much... I think it shows that people in both countries are mostly peace loving. But only some are spreading hatred. Let Kashmir be solved by governments of both countries. If people of both countries come together then governments also will come together as they represent us as they are also from us.

I think majority of them are hindus, Their desperation to migrate to a poverty stricken third world country explains how badly they are treated in their own country.Thousands of hindus are migrating to india every year. UN should help them to migrate to better countries.

It is bound to happen with time especially with the hardships various groups , religions and ethnicities face in India at the hands of few powerful groups. Kashmir will be no different. It might take many decades but tension is definitely building up. And honestly speaking it will be for good of everyone. There will be less concentration of power , India cant bully the weaker nations and All of us can mind our own business and live in peace. Everyone wins.

Amazing that a solution that would benefit every party has no chance of being implemented due to political egos of the two major nations involved. I think Madplayer is right, the only solution will be when India and Pakistan break down into their natural regions and government is decentralised. The problem for India is that Kashmir on Pakistan side would probably still want to be part of Pakistan on some footing, whereas I don't think that would be the case with IOK.

Actually Indian leaders were quite clever and they created this bond and categorised all people as hindus who in reality have completely different deities and beliefs for example south Indian Hindus. Even buddhists and jains are categorised as hindus. I believe Hinduism is quite a loosely defined religion and due to different beliefs and practices of hindus in different parts of India, it cannot be said for sure that this bond is enough to maintain the unity of India. If that were the case, there would never have been separatist movements in south India and east India. South Indians in particular are more concerned about their culture especially their language. Also the lower castes or varna less people will cause more problems once they shed their sense of weakness and become more aware. Boy did Ambedkar-Gandhi pact save India from further break down or what!!

Personally speaking, i believe caste system among Indian hindus could have been a good way to ensure livelihood to all if it remained just about that. But due to the exploitative nature of man, this could not be possible and the issue of superior and inferior ruined it forever.

If true then Pak has to do better. Even if those applying for Indian citizenship are from our Hindu community it reflects what Pakistan is now. This can be reversed if Pak treats it's people and minorities in particular with respect. Kashmir issue arms both sides so will not be solved at least within the next ten years.

I know that but if 5000 Hindus are still migrating to india, government should setup refugee camps with the help of UN or should deport them if they can live safely in Pakistan now.
