Pakistan's hopes of avoiding a 3-0 whitewash against Australia in tatters after they end Day 3 of SCG Test on 68/7, a lead of 82 runs

Not against this Australian team. They are not going to fail with the bat twice. They will attack and put the bowlers on the defensive
Australia lost 4 wickets while chasing 34 against SA. Current Australian unit is out of form so they have no choice but give it a go.

Typical pakistan Calpse.Pakistan have had thier moments in this test and in the last test.

Positives
Jamal
Shan Masood Captincy
Rizwan glovework and batting

Pakistan collapse is always just around the corner.

Even now if Rizwan and Jamal can put together a 50 - 75 run partnership, Pakistan will have 175 to defend. Anything can happen.

But Pakistan squandered a great chance to win.

Absolutely, there was a chance to win the second Test and also this third Test, but we missed the opportunity to make history.

Playing well in patches will never win you games. It's the marathon and sustained performances that stands out at the end and makes the difference.

Before the start of this series if you'd ask anyone if as a Pakistani fan will you take a 3-0 defeat if Pakistan competed well. You will say yes because in recent history were abysmal. No where near them. Even the team had the mind of playing competitive cricket rather than thinking of winning.

But when it all happened, the team was competitive mostly in principle they had achieved their goal. In hindsight and in reality however Pakistan were so good until that moment (whatever that maybe) that they genuinely were on course to win the 2nd and 3rd Test match.

All in all this also tells us how important it is to always have a fearless, positive and open minded mindset where you prepare yourself for to win. Because the last and the worse thing you can do to yourself as an individual or a group is to put a cap on your mentality. To simply limit yourself way beyond the realm of what is possible.

India got all out for 36 and that was like worse than what Pakistan did in any innings with the bat of this Test series. But they were prepared. They wanted to win, they believed in themselves to turn around and they did.

Massive opportunity missed by PCT, Babar has flopped big time, even a 60-70 by him here could have taken the target to 200 which is tough on this wearing pitch. This is the best I have seen Pakistan compete in Australia, but lack of killer instinct, failure to seize big moments, failure to run away with the game on top, have made this series look one sided. Maybe mental block, but from the positions in MCG and SCG I reckon 4-5 teams in world cricket would have buried Australia.
Probably this is the weakest Australia team. Hardly any difference in weak Pakistan sides. I think better players have toured there before.

Australia's bowling is as good as ever but out of form Marnus and Smith has made their batting weak

Match is not over. Put 70-80 more runs and it can get interesting.

true . Only stage they were ahead of Aus in this series was when they reduced them to 16/4 last Test . Today at 53/2 they were not remotely ahead but 200-220 was certainly on which could have been very competitive . Anyway , will not be up early tomorrow but have a improbable hunch some upheaval ahead !

Super disappointing how poor our top 5 batters have been throughout the series. Openers, Babar & Saud have been completely useless with basically Shan & Rizwan scoring and Agha chipping in a bit. That is simply not good enough.

It's one thing for openers to struggle against new ball vs Starc & Hazelwood but Babar has the cushiest position in Tests at 4 and this is his 3rd tour here. His abysmal performance is completely unacceptable and it's a part-timer you are getting out to? Unreal.

I think there needs to be a lot more and louder criticism of Babar at this point. His performance for the past year+ has been garbage with literally zero notable performances. It dates back to the 22' WC, in which he was probably one of the worst players in the WC. Other than scoring a couple of times on Pakistani road pitches in the Test home series, he's been utterly useless. He was horrific in the WC both as captain & batter. He was useless in Test series vs SL and Pakistan won on the backs of great performances from Saud/Abdullah/Agha. Now, he's been horrible again in this Test series which easily could look a lot different if Babar was any better.

Fair to wonder how much Babar has tarnished his own legacy at this point. He will be remembered for the back to back abysmal WC performances, the epic failure in the Test home series vs Aus/Eng/NZ where they didn't muster a single win. He will just remembered as the King of soft runs and always went MIA when his team needed him most. I am disappointed beyond belief from Babar.

In case AUS do not start with Starc & Hazelwwod 1st thing tomorrow , some strange things could happen .

175 is a great total to defend in 4th innings anywhere against any team.

A little bit of grit needed from rizwan and jamaal to achieve a lead around 180-200. Pakistan can still try and hope for the best on day 4.

Australia will be prepared for counter attack. I already saw 3 deep fielders plus close-in fielders. Given the state of the pitch you cannot survive with singles as one ball will have your name on it.
