Can we extend the metaphor further ?
Which posters represent which family member ?
Almost thought this was another TM Riddle thread !
What family member does each PP poster represent !

I'm the youngest.![]()
Except that some go away and you are left wondering. Never going to invest emotions on any poster again.
How old are you?
saadibaba Thanks for that remainder.
Started for fun, now it's like a drug which i can't miss....
Totally addicted now.
No problem. The least I can do is help youngsters like yourself avoid the mistakes I made.. If anyone wants to learn about self-discipline, just know that Ive been on this forum for over 12 years now and have taken once a 6 month and second a 2 year hiatus from it all and both were at the peak of my posting days.
Why I came back ? Mainly to write about art in movies, music and TV. Have become totally disillusioned with politics. The craving to express ones thoughts over those topics finally overpowered any self-control I had.
How did you control that urge to look up into it during this 6 months hiatus? i tried many times but gave up within 20 days. Smart phone use makes it more difficult.
The urge goes away after a week or so. I focused on and re-discoeverd my other hobbies. Ones I had abandoned or have put on hold because of my time on social media. I went to my local library and started reading or listening to books I have always wanted to read but never got the time to. I think of myself as a cinephile but my exposure to old movies, especially the French new wave and Japanese cinema was lacking. I took the time off PP to explore those movies to develop a deeper understanding of the art of cinema and the impact those older classics have had on current movies and directors. I got more into sketching and painting, a hobby I have always find soothing but had never really taken seriously.
In short, I looked at my life and realized that there is more to it than posting anonymously on a forum for a select group of readers and admirers. The richness of what the world has to offer became far more interesting after a while. Of course, the need to express remained and therefore, here I am.
I think I should try to get onto my old hobbies i guess. May be, that would help me to fulfil the boredom in between my studies.
Your language suggests you are not going to do it.

As much as I like PP, please don't take it as a substitute for family, friends or your social circle. It may provide the momentary illusion of companionship and camaraderie but in realty PP or any other type of social media hangout place like Facebook etc. is going to fall short of your expectations and will leave you frustrated and disillusioned in the end.
Unfortunately, in today's fast paced world, social media has become an easy, convenient and no strings attached way to filling our need for companionship. But the advantage social media provides work contradictory to the formation of any long lasting and genuine relationship. No real friendship can be achieved without putting in the time, putting the other person's interests in line and going through some real life experiences together. What makes matter worse is when people start prioritizing their supposed friends and social circle on social media over real life friends and family. It leads to more personal isolation, feelings of loneliness and ultimately disillusionment once the fickle and transient nature of online relationships and the futility of it all becomes apparent to the person.
I've been through that path myself and know how easy it is to get caught up into it all. Ultimately, one is trying to fill some kind of void in their life. It could be boredom, lack of friends or just a need to be heard or admired. The admiration part especially can become like a drug. Whatever it is, social media is not the answer for it. The faster one can learn it, the better it is for them in the future.

Why iss it easier to express online and social media than in real life?? And sir you said you come here for admiration, how come it's easier to have admiration here than real life? Do people admire more people in general or do people admire you more? Or they express admiration easier?? Or it's easier for introverted people to gain admiration online?
I am addicted too now.... :3dtard3:
You are the only one who uses this website to its full potential.PP is a great escape and my favourite website across all topics.
