I think the verdict will be a shocking surprise against the general perception during two weeks prceding it. It could be any party here. PTI should continue to handle it in bi-modal pattern; retreat and rebuild pressure and repeat. And in closing days, shouldn't propagate perception waves positive to their stand.

Humaari courts video/audio evidence nae maanti (in some cases ). Not very long ago a HC justice used videos as evidence against IK to stop him from dherna and before him a video was used against Dr Shahid Masood when he went to court against Pemra. There are examples of video evidence being used in SC during Iftikhar Ch time when he was CJ.

Even if SC don't accept videos ad evidence they should at least ask the shareef family to deny what they said in those interviews and speeches. This will expose them fully in front of everyone...

No money trail of Sharif's London flats: Supreme Court

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court observed on Wednesday that there was no money trail of the Sharif’s London flats.

During the hearing, Justice Asif Khosa observed that there was no trace of transfer of money from Pakistan to a foreign country. The apex court was hearing a case pertaining to the alleged offshore wealth of the premier’s family in London.

Earlier, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan’s counsel Naeem Bukhari submitted a two-page summary of a transaction questioning the Sharif family’s investment of Dhs 12 million in Qatar in 1980 despite owing the Bank of Commerce and Credit International (BCCI) Dhs 14 million.

Justice Azmat Saeed Sheikh remarked that the Sharifs had failed to explain how they had cleared the aforementioned dues in 1980. He also observed that the Sharifs had also failed to explain how they had financed the construction of Jeddah Steel Mills.

The bench also observed that there was no similarity between the signatures of premier Nawaz Sharif’s cousin Tariq Shafi on an affidavit and a contract presented before the court.

Bukhari also contended that the Sharifs had failed to produce a single document showing how money had been transferred from Pakistan to Dubai, Doha, Jeddah and London.

PTI chairman Khan has been pleading his case against the Sharif’s offshore wealth and to defend himself before a different bench of the apex court for allegedly concealing his sources of income.

The party claims to have come up with fresh evidence this week to press its stance that Sharif’s London properties had been purchased in the 1990s rather than the ruling family’s claim of buying them in 2006.

On Monday, during the hearing, the PTI contended that the Sharif family owned both Nelson and Nescol companies in 1999. According to party sources, the new ‘evidence’ was brought from London.

On November 15, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his daughter Maryam Nawaz submitted ‘documentary evidence’ on the legitimacy of their assets before the top court, claiming a Qatari prince paid for their London apartment.

On November 3, the premier denied holding offshore companies in a written response to the Supreme Court on Panamagate petitions. In his reply, the PM said he had declared all his assets in 2013, hence was not liable for disqualification under Articles 62 and 63 of the Constitution.

A treasure trove of classified documents leaked from a Panama-based law firm Mossack Fonseca in April revealed that three scions of the Sharif family were among dozens of powerful people who owned offshore businesses across international tax havens.

The next date is freaking 6 days away, on 6th December.

The last working day of this year for SC is 14th December (that is also the last working day of Chief Justice).


I hope a decision is made on the 6th or the court session is held everyday from 6th to 14th to get to the bottom of this.

But all signs point towards the Chief retiring and then Nawaz appointing his own man as Chief and easily winning the case in the early months of 2017.

PM can't appoint CJ. Most senior judge of SC become CJ automatically. So next in the list is Justice Saqib Nisar and he will remain CJ for next 2 years. He isn't part of this 5 judges panama bench headed by current CJ so it will be interestiing to see what happens. There are many rumors about him already in the market but he denied them 2 days ago so let's see.

Very positive day for PTI as focus of judges was "Qatari Afsaanay", contradictory statements of Sharif family, fake deed documents etc. PMLN actually blamed photocopier error for a document that they presented that didn't match their claims and submitted a new one

Naeem Bukhari's performance was much better and overall things are looking positive for real justice, only thing i am concerned about is conusing verdict that may provide Nawaz Sharif some way out and PMLN propaganda machine is so strong that they can turn anything against them as a victory. Panamagate hearing: Third offshore company of Sharifs crops up

ISLAMABAD: Until now we knew that Premier Nawaz Sharif’s children owned two offshore companies — Nescol Ltd and Nielsen Enterprises Ltd — but now a third company, Coomber Group, has cropped up while the Sharif family is struggling to prove the money trail for the purchase of luxury flats in London.

In the documents submitted before the Supreme Court in the Panamagate case, the Sharif family has attached two different deeds where Maryam Safdar is a trustee of her brother’s companies.

On February 2, 2006, Premier Sharif’s daughter signed a declaration with her brother Hussain Nawaz as a trustee in his two companies Nescol and Nielsen. The same day, she signed a similar declaration with him for another company, Coomber Group, in which he owns 49% shares.

This third company is likely to be the focus of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s legal team in the next hearing scheduled for December 6.

After a two-week hiatus when a five-member bench of the apex court resumed hearing on Wednesday, the PTI legal team raised more than 10 questions to establish their case.

Agreeing to some of the arguments put forward by PTI’s lead counsel Naeem Bukhari, some judges observed that the Sharif family was ‘hiding’ facts about the ownership of the offshore companies as some necessary documents still seem to be missing in their replies.

The judges also raised questions on the money trail the Sharif family has so far submitted before the court and pointed out missing links. The missing details included banking transactions or any other channels through which money had been transferred from Dubai to Qatar and then to London to acquire the expensive property in an upscale neighbourhood of London.

One of the judges also pointed out that there were two contradictory descriptions on the part of the Sharif family. One was narrated by the prime minister on the floor of parliament, claiming his family had set up a factory in Jeddah in 1999 using money from the Gulf Steel Mills it had established in Dubai, and later the Saudi factory had been sold to buy London properties.

Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan, agreeing with Bukhari’s contention, said that the other narrative came from the written replies the Sharif family has submitted before the court in which the Jeddah factory has no mention and the money trail has been directly established from selling the UAE factory to investments with the Qatari royal family.

An affidavit submitted on behalf of a Qatari prince claims that the London flats had been given in the ownership of Hussain Nawaz in 2006 as part of a business deal against investments made by his late grandfather with his family in the real estate business in the early 1980s.

To substantiate this account, the Sharif family had submitted another affidavit from Tariq Shafi, a cousin of Premier Nawaz who actually owned the business in Dubai in the 1970s. According to him, he was working on behalf of his uncle, the late father of Premier Nawaz. All shares in those businesses in Dubai were sold in 1980, generating 12 million UAE dirhams. The bench observed that Shafi’s signature on the affidavit did not match with the signature in the agreement.

Bukhari contended that despite having liability of 14 million dirhams to Bank of Credit & Commerce International Dubai (BCCI), the Sharif family had invested 12 million dirhams in Qatar in 1980. He went on to state that there was not a single document produced by the Sharif family to establish how the money had been sent from Pakistan to Dubai, Qatar, Jeddah and London.

Justice Asif Khosa observed that there was no banking trail of transfer of money from Dubai to London. He, however, asked the PTI counsel to establish that the Sharif family was the owner of these flats prior to 2006.

“If you establish a connection with this property prior to 2006, then the burden of proof will be shifted to other side. Show us the connection as this is your entire case,” Justice Khosa observed. However, he said Premier Nawaz in his speeches talked about the trail of the money as he may forget.

Justice Azmat Saeed Sheikh, who has expertise in white-collar crimes, raised several questions over the money trail of the Sharif family’s London flats. No explanation has been given about how the family had cleared liability to the BCCI. He also observed that there was no explanation from the Sharif family that how had they gotten the money to set up Jeddah Steel Mills.

He was also surprised how the respondents had hidden the name of the owner of the Minerva Officer Limited, which was a share-holder of Nielsen and Nescol in 1994.

“No supportive document has been submitted to establish the ownership of Minerva. Why this information is being hidden from the bench,” Justice Azmat remarked. The judge also observed that the bench was conducting the inquisitorial proceedings in this matter.

Earlier, Bukhari pointed out that Premier Sharif has made contradictory statements regarding the ownership of the London flats. He also stated that the prime minister has evaded tax, adding that Marriam was a dependent and remain a dependent. The Qatari prince’s letter has totally negated the prime minister’s earlier stance.

The case was adjourned until next Tuesday.

This is quite unbelievable, PTI got so much criticism just because their lawyer didn't raise valid points (even though majority was valid) which was a minor issue but so much uproar that Hamid Khan refused to continue.
What about these blunders? first they brought fake Qatari letter, then presented a document that exposed another offshore company that has never been declared and forged documents presented that even judges are raising doubts on.

Now our PMLN supporters all of a sudden have conveniently become NEUTRALS again and will only jump in when something goes against PTI.

Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) leaders on Thursday said that the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf chief Imran Khan failed to provide any evidence in the Panama Papers case before the Supreme Court.

Addressing a press conference, Minister for Commerce Khurram Dastgir Khan urged Imran Khan to give up politics of baseless allegations and present proofs in the court.

Dastgir said that Imran Khan's moves were a hindrance in the path of progress and development of the country.

“China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project was delayed for eight month due to the sit-ins of PTI”, he added.

The minister added that the government had succeeded in bringing the country out of the energy crisis and terrorism and it also helped strengthening the country's economy, which was now being admitted by the world's leading economic institutions.

Khurram said the PTI's allegation against the PML-N could not stop the government from moving forward and developing the country.

He said PTI had told a number of 'lies' to the nation regarding corruption, money laundering and writing off loans from the banks but it could not present any evidence in court.

The minister added that lawyers of Imran Khan were now "taking now U-turns in the case and one of the PTI lawyers had withdrawn himself from pleading the case due to weak evidence".

Adviser to the Prime Minister Engineer Amir Muqam said that the Panama Papers is an empty box that was used by Imran Khan to mislead people and acquire 'cheap fame'.

The adviser said that Imran Khan was was projecting Panama Papers to achieve political objectives.

"Rather than diverting energies to resolve problems of people in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Imram Khan has wasted time by arranging useless sit-ins."

He added that Imran Khan should decide his priorities and work for the well being and betterment of the people.

Right now, PTI is presenting their arguments, they should be finished within the next session on 6th December. After that the court will hear arguments from N league's lawyer, JI and Sheikh Rasheed's lawyer.

It doesn't look like they will make a commission, so judgement should be after that shortly.

Even after all these episodes the case is still standing at a point where judges want PTI legal team to give full evidence that Shareef family purchased these flats before 2006 and once that is proved thn the real case starts for our judges Shareef family and all their dramas, fake documents, alif laila stories, no money trail and letters are already exposed in public but well that's not enough for the judges to decide anything so maybe we will have to wait for a couple of months because CJ is also retiring at the end of this month and SC winter vacations starts from 18 Dec to 30 Dec
